WEEE Returns
In July 2007 the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006 came into force affecting how producers
of electrical and electronic equipment deal with end of life equipment placed in the UK market place.
BeaconMedæs is a producer of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). It is our obligation to finance the costs of
the collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of any end of life equipment falling within
the guidelines below.
1. If the equipment has a sticker displaying a crossed out wheelie bin with adjacent bar then the product was
placed on the market after 13th August 2005.
2. The costs of financing the collection, treatment and sound disposal of any equipment placed on the market
after 13th August 2005 lie with BeaconMedæs unless otherwise agreed with the distributor / end user.
3. The costs of financing the collection, treatment and sound disposal of any equipment placed on the market
before 13th August 2005; where BeaconMedæs is replacing for new EEE lie with BeaconMedæs.
4. The costs of financing the collection, treatment and sound disposal of any equipment placed on the market
before 13th August 2005; that is not being replaced with new replacement equipment, lie with the end user.
5. All producers of equipment are required to join a Compliance Scheme. In doing so they will be issued with
an EEE producer registration number which is to be communicated to any distributor to whom he intends to sell,
sells or otherwise supplies EEE.
