The right greases and oils are essential for performance. 

Your Bosch dealer and your workshop will advise you which of 

the 30 or so Bosch original greases and oils have to be used where 

and in what quantity. The right grease in the right measure will 

ensure you Bosch tool works perfectly again after maintenance and

Basic guide to correct use of 

greases and oils in repair 

You will find detailed lubrication instructions in the spare 

part documentation on the internet or on our Service DVD. 

Not all greases are the same, and not all oils 

are the same. 

In addition to a base oil, lubricants usually contain 

additives which give them certain characteristics. 

▶ Fluidity 

▶ Oxidation resistance 

▶ Friction characteristic. 

The base oil and the additives are precisely tailored 

to each other and to the relevant requirements of 

use. Original greases and oils from Bosch are 

developed especially for Bosch Power Tools and 

meet the same high quality standard as the tools 

themselves. 

What purpose do lubricants serve in a power tool? 

Lubricants perform many important tasks: friction 

and wear reduction, power transfer, cooling, vibration 

damping, sealing, and corrosion protection. As 

with all machine parts, lubricants are also subject to 

aging and wear. They become dirty, overheat or dry 

out. When this happens, or during every necessary 

wear repair, they have to be replaced or replenished. 

What has to be observed when greasing 

and oiling during repairs? 

Bosch original greases and oils must not be mixed 

with each other, nor under any circumstances with 

non-recommended greases and oils. The specified 

quantities and the lubrication instructions for each 

tool must be observed at all times.

We have compiled a selection of the most common 

lubricants for repairing tools from various product 

groups. You can therefore order any quantity of 

the required lubricants to meet your individual 

requirements. 

Note 

Repairs must be performed only by trained 

experts. 

To ensure correct use of greases and oils during 

repair, please always observe the tool-specific 

lubrication instructions in our service documentation 

on the internet or on our Service DVD.
