Yes, that’s right, Gym- Kinetics is celebrating its 34th year in business. With the season approaching soon, the summer team workouts have been going great, according to the coaching staff. The staff for the competitive team includes Victor Fredrickson, Samantha Fredrickson, Brad Stegenga, Samantha Hawkinson, Ashley Rice, Joseph Hodges and Jim Fredrickson. Currently, Gym-Kinetics has approximately 200 competitive gymnasts on its team, which is one of the largest private club teams anywhere in the country. The southside gym is known throughout the country for its strong competitive team but is equally proud of its recreational programs. “We have a huge team primarily because we do such a great job at the recreational level getting the kids proper instruction to become competitive gymnasts,” Owner Jim Fredrickson said. The team at Gym-Kinetics is a powerhouse in the state of Illinois, with Top 5 finishes at almost every level entered in the state competitions each year. One of the levels even had a Top 5 ranking nationally. Fredrickson said that it all starts when the student walks through the door for the first time.
