The Gaffer
FRANK WILSON – Frank
is probably best known
for his spell as manager
as Tooting and Mitcham
United, where he won
the London Senior Cup
in 2016 and Isthmian
League Division One
South in 2017 before
leaving at the end of the
2017-18 season. More
recently he has been a
co-commentator on Back
of the Net broadcasts as
well as joining ex-Casuals
Manager Kim Harris at
Kingstonian towards
the back end of last
season. Following the
departure of Hayden
Bird at Merstham, Frank
took charge at Moatside
in the Summer and has
begun his rebuilding of
the squad following the
exodus of players with
Bird.
MATTE PIERSON Goalkeeper.
Matte spent last season at
Bedfont Sports, where he was
awarded player of the season
by both management and his
teammates. Matte was a trainee
at Brentford and signed for
Hampton & Richmond, before
Frank Wilson took him on loan
at Tooting & Mitcham and then
made the move permanent in
2016.
PETER WEDGEWORTH
Defender. ‘Wedgie’ spent three
seasons at Tooting & Mitcham
and was originally brought to
the club by Merstham boss
Frank Wilson during his spell
in charge there. Peter was a
key figure in the Terrors squad
during his time there and was
influential in Wilson’s Bostik
South title-winning Season, as
well as their London Senior Cup
triumph. A talented left back
who is well-known for being a
dead ball specialist. Peter had a
brief spell with the Moatsiders
in 2012.
LIAM SMITH Defender.
The accomplished full back
joins Moatside on an agreed
dual registration from newly
promoted Tonbridge Angels -
where Liam was a pivotal part of
their successful playoff / super
playoff promotion season.
JAMES RICHMOND Defender.
A tall, strong, commanding
defender with vast experience
at step 3. James was one of
Frank Wilson’s first signings at
Merstham. He originally signed
James towards the end of 18/19
Season, during his brief spell
at Kingstonian bringing the
experienced defender over from
Burgess Hill Town, where James
had been a key figure for the
previous 3 seasons.
SINN’KAYE CHRISTIE Defender.
Sinn’Kaye had a previous spell
at Merstham in 2017/18, before
joining Bostik South contenders
Hastings Utd. Sinn’Kaye spent
some time on loan at Whitehawk
last season.
ANTONIO SIMEONE Defender.
“Simmo” was awarded
‘Supporters Player of the
Season’ and ‘Managers’ Player
of the Year’ during his 2018/19
campaign at Tooting & Mitcham
Utd. Simeone and Wilson first
came together during their time
at St Mary’s University where
Manager Frank Wilson served
as Head Coach. Simeone then
played for Wilson at Tooting
& Mitcham Utd and quickly
cemented his place as a key
defender. ‘Simmo’ is a strong,
physical and composed left
sided centre back with excellent
distribution and an eye for goal.
LIAM SMITH Defender. Liam
is an exciting young prospect
whom we signed from
Tonbridge Angels. Liam came
through the Angel’s youth
system, making his debut at
just 16 years old. Enjoys getting
