Yiannis Arahovitis (StarDogs) spoke about the “Causes & treatment of Dog Aggression”. The second part of the seminar was a presentation of modern , positive dog training methods on basic obedience. StarDogs and partners go around big Greek cities and inform animal lovers on how to understand and communicate better with their pets” Page 4 This exercise helps dogs to become more self-confident with their hind legs. WElCOME OUR NEW MEMBERS Charlotte Andersson, Denmark My name is Charlotte Andersson, and I’m 40 years old. I have been working with animals all my life, as I was raised by dedicated parents who worked with “broken” animals, dogs, horses and exotic animals. In 1994 I was educated at the Ethology Institute here in Denmark, after which I attended several courses, and in 2004 I finished my education at the university of animals as a therapist in Chinese medicine for animals and humans. In 2010 I founded the Fair Dog Association here in Denmark, where we work for equal rights for all dogs and their owners and for Fair Play in the world of dogs. Steffanie Binder, Germany After I was settled into my main work as a teacher for kids with special needs I decided to get a new dog. Almost five years ago I got Lilly, a Coton de Tulear. I went to a puppy and youngster class. From the very beginning she was interested in hunting, so we started to do some tracking. She was pretty good and the trainer invited us to join his search and rescue group. Thus we started mantrailing. I went to a lot of workshops and seminars and became a mantrailing instructor. Two years ago I started my own mantrailing group and I give mantrailing courses. A few months ago we decided to specialise in finding missing pets. In addition, my dog and I like retrieving and other nose- and brainwork. Last summer I started to train family dogs.Last year I took the trainer education with Turid, which finished in April this year. Merethe Boergart, Denmark dogs. My heart beats for a good dog life, with lots of love and companionship. I also consider it very important to reduce the stress in our dogs - and in humans as well. I have trained as a masseur for dogs, and was examined by a vet - www.biodyr.dk, the only such vet in Denmark. Carlos Dangoor, Balearic Islands, Spain I started to be curious about dogs “by accident”. About six years ago my wife brought a dog home and since then I have been fascinated with them. Currently, with other partners, I have set up educando(g), a company that organizes courses and seminars on dog training. Nina Haaland, Norway My name is Steffi. I was born in 1971 in the south of Germany. I grew up with a lot of different animals. When I was twelve years old my family got our first dog. As a teenager I was increasingly responsible for our small poodle girl. She lived for 14 years. For some years during my studies I lived without a dog of my own but with cats. I am aged 42 and have been with dogs all my life. My parents had dogs of all breeds while I was growing up. When I left home and got my own apartment, my first dog was a Samoyed. Later I had Dalmatians, of which I have two now. Since 1996 I have worked with dogs and owners who have problems. I was educated by Roger Abrantes, and training has been a part of my life. But now my heart beats for family dogs who are not in balance. I work full time advising owners about their dogs, to get the best life for both. I give lectures on dog behaviour and a good life for our dogs. I completed the dog trainer education with Turid Rugaas in april 2010, and am very happy to work according to her principles and ways of seeing I run “Hund i Fokus”, a small dog training school in Darbu in Øvre Eiker, Norway. In addition to behavioural consulting and private lessons we have a wide range of classes: Puppy classes, tracking, searching, freestyle, problem-dog classes, chanterelle searching and others. We focus on positive reinforcement in all our work with dogs, mainly clicker training. PDTE NEWS Page 5
