From the Publisher’s Desk<br />
This past week as I've been preparing this latest edition of <strong>Paso</strong> <strong>Llano</strong>, I've been<br />
reflecting on the wonderful relationships that I've developed, with both horses and humans,<br />
thanks to having this wonderful horse in my life. I believe probably everyone reading this<br />
has had at least one relationship with a horse that they could say shaped them as an equestrian<br />
and made an impact on their life.<br />
Being a horse owner and breeder is not a solitary sport. We take lessons, or learn<br />
from family, have a mentor or a trainer who shows us the way when starting out. Horses are<br />
enjoyed in group trail rides, or at the shows where we celebrate with friends. All of these<br />
relationships bring us to plan and get excited about the next event where we know we will<br />
have the next smile or party with this "horse family".<br />
I recently lost my heart horse, MCD Coronado, at almost 21 year of age due to a<br />
tumor. With MCD Coronado, I had a great relationship, he was an incredible show horse,<br />
where we won dozens of titles together, spent countless hours on the trail, and participated<br />
in photography workshops as models and have been featured in magazines and calendars<br />
across the world. Having him took me from being just a rider, to also an owner and starting<br />
my breeding program with him. I enjoyed him and shared him with my best friends and<br />
family in the breed. He taught me many things, and brought me many opportunities in life<br />
and in the horses. I'll always be grateful and glad that he was part of my journey as an equestrian.<br />
Let's celebrate the wonderful relationships that the horses bring us, and how they<br />
bring us together.<br />

Esta semana pasada mientras preparaba esta última edición de <strong>Paso</strong> <strong>Llano</strong>, he reflexionado<br />
sobre las maravillosas relaciones que he desarrollado, tanto con caballos como<br />
con humanos, gracias a tener este caballo en mi vida. Creo que probablemente todos los que<br />
lean esto han tenido al menos una relación con un caballo que podrían decir que los formo<br />
como caballistas siendo un gran impactó en sus vidas.<br />
Ser dueño de un caballo y criador no es un deporte solitario. Tomamos clases, o<br />
aprendemos de la familia, tenemos un mentor o un entrenador que nos muestra el camino<br />
al comenzar. Los caballos se disfrutan en cabalgatas, o en los concursos donde celebramos<br />
con amigos. Todas estas relaciones nos llevan a planificar y entusiasmarnos con el próximo<br />
evento en el que sabemos que tendremos la fiesta con nuestra "familia de caballos".<br />
Hace poco perdí mi "caballo de corazón", MCD Coronado, a casi 21 años de edad<br />
debido a un tumor. Con MCD Coronado, tuve una gran relación, fue un caballo de concurso,<br />
donde ganamos docenas de títulos juntos, pasamos incontables horas cabalgando<br />
y participamos en talleres de fotografía, como modelos y hemos aparecido en revistas y<br />
calendarios en todos partes del mundo. Tenerlo me llevó de ser solo un jinete, a ser también<br />
un propietario y comenzar mi programa de crianza con él. Lo disfruté y lo compartí con<br />
mis mejores amigos y mi familia. Él me enseñó muchas cosas y me brindó muchas oportunidades<br />
en la vida y en los caballos. Siempre estaré agradecida y contenta de que haya sido<br />
parte de mi vida.<br />
Celebremos las maravillosas relaciones que los caballos nos traen y cómo nos<br />
unen.<br />

El XXXIII Concurso Centroamericano fue el 15-<br />
17 de Febrero 2018 en Antigua, Guatemala. Mas<br />
de 150 caballos compitieron durante los tres dias,<br />
de tres paises. Vistantes llegaron de todo America<br />
para celebrar este gran evento.<br />
EA Linda, de propiedad de Gerardo Caceres,<br />
JRR Legado de Fernando Jarquin y JAS Tradicion<br />
de Roberto Canahuati fueron los campeones de<br />
campeones. Gerardo Caceres fue el Mejor Expositor<br />
por el tercer año consecutivo y Fernando Jarquin el<br />
Mejor Criador.<br />
The XXXIII Concurso Centroamericano was held the 15-17 of February<br />
in Antigua, Guatemala. More than 150 horses competed from<br />
3 different countries to be presented in front of Juan Manuel Rizo Patron<br />
who presided as judge. Visitors came from across the Americas<br />
to celebrate the great event.<br />
JAS Tradicion was the Champion of Champions Gelding, owned by<br />
Roberto Canhuati, EA Linda was Champion of Champions Mare,<br />
owned by Gerardo Caceres and JRR Legado was the Champion of<br />
Champions Stallion, owned by Fernando Jarquin. Gerardo Cacers<br />
was High Point Exhibitor for the third consecutive year, and Fernando<br />
Jarquin was High Point Breeder.<br />

Un artículo se escribe con el propósito de despertar en<br />
el lector la curiosidad de leerlo. En esta oportunidad el<br />
tema será sobre el juzgamiento del caballo peruano de<br />
paso y su presentación en los concursos.<br />
Quiero exponer para usted un tema que ha sido comentado<br />
con gran negatividad en los últimos años, creando<br />
la mayor controversia entre criadores, propietarios<br />
y aficionados del caballo peruano de paso. Se trata de<br />
la velocidad en que se presentan los ejemplares en las<br />
diferentes categorías de los concursos y que esto ha sido<br />
permitido por la mayoría de los jueces, considerándole<br />
una condición previamente convenida y aceptada, lo<br />
cual es totalmente antagónico a la función natural, y<br />
calidad de piso de nuestros caballos ya que hace desaparecer<br />
los defectos que pudieran tener la calidad de su<br />
piso y otras cosas más.<br />
El caballo peruano de paso es un caballo de PASO como<br />
su nombre de raza lo indica, desde luego teniendo otros<br />
adornos que son necesarios para su lucimiento. Por esta<br />
razón de raza deben presentarse en su mejor aire, enseñando<br />
su calidad, pero no en su mayor carrera donde<br />
enseñan su falta de calidad.<br />
En el mes de febrero tuvimos en Guatemala, en la ciudad<br />
de Antigua nuestro concurso del caballo peruano<br />
de paso, un evento que nos dio la oportunidad de compartir<br />
con grandes amigos de otros países y contemplar<br />
los ejemplares traídos por ellos.<br />
Para este evento contamos con la presencia como juez<br />
invitado al ingeniero Juan Manuel Rizo Patron, quien<br />
con la calidad que le pertenece me hizo recordar las enseñanzas<br />
que impartían en sus juzgamientos los jueces<br />
en la década de los años 80, reprimiendo constantemente<br />
a los jinetes que abusaban de la velocidad.<br />

An article is written with the purpose of awakening in<br />
the reader's curiosity to read it. On this occasion, the<br />
subject will be on the judging of the Peruvian paso<br />
horse and its presentation in competitions.<br />
I would like to present to you a topic that has been discussed<br />
with great negativity in the last few years, creating<br />
the greatest controversy among breeders, owners<br />
and aficionados of the Peruvian <strong>Paso</strong> horse. This is the<br />
speed in which the horses are presented in the different<br />
categories of competitions and what this has been allowed<br />
by the majority of the Judges, considering a condition<br />
previously agreed and accepted, which is completely<br />
antagonistic to the natural function, and quality<br />
of gait of our horses since it hides the defects that may<br />
have the quality of their gait and other things .<br />
The Peruvian <strong>Paso</strong> horse is a “walking” (paso) horse<br />
as its name suggests, of course including other adornments<br />
that are necessary for their brilliance. For this<br />
reason the breed should be presented at its best air,<br />
demonstrating its quality, not in in a race where they<br />
show their lack of quality.<br />
In the month of February 2018 we had in Guatemala,<br />
in the city of Antigua, our contest of the Peruvian paso<br />
horse, an event that gave us the opportunity to share<br />
with friends from other countries and contemplate the<br />
horses brough by them.<br />
For this event we have the presence as judge the Juan<br />
Manuel Rizo Patron, who with the quality that belongs<br />
to him made me remember the lessons taught in their<br />
judgments by judges in the decade of the 80’s, repressing<br />
constantly to the riders who abused the speed.

Gracias Juan Manuel, porque con tu actitud nos diste la<br />
esperanza de ¨QUE SI SE PUEDE¨ siempre y cuando se<br />
lo propongan.<br />
Para finalizar quiero decir que en el Perú hay jueces que<br />
conozco y doy fe de que ellos tienen atributos necesarios<br />
para poder cambiar esta tan negativa condición, y<br />
permitiéndonos apreciar la función natural de nuestro<br />
caballo peruano de paso, es por eso que los invito y los<br />
exhorto a participar de esta manera.<br />

gave us the hope "THAT IF YOU CAN" always and<br />
when it is proposed.<br />
Finally, I would like to say that in Peru there are judges<br />
that I know and I can vouch that they have attributes<br />
necessary to be able to change this so negative condition,<br />
and allowing us to appreciate the natural function<br />
of our Peruvian <strong>Paso</strong> horse, that is why I invite and encourage<br />
them to participate in this way.<br />

Es difícil no pensar en lo tarde que es escribir líneas<br />
para hablar y honrar nuestra experiencia con una persona<br />
tan extraordinaria como fue, es y por siempre será<br />
José Luis Gagliardi Wakeham, nuestro suegro. Que no<br />
sea más tarde, unas cuantas líneas jamás serán suficientes<br />
para explicar lo mucho que significaba él para su<br />
familia, sus amigos y por supuesto su afición, pero sí<br />
serán muy merecidas.<br />
Pepe Lucho comenzó su cría de nuestro caballo hace<br />
aproximadamente 22 años de la mano de nombres muy<br />
importantes en nuestro mundo. Los responsables de<br />
iniciar a nuestro suegro en un bello romance, como el<br />
que tuvo por nuestra afición, salen a la luz. Fueron Don<br />
Alfredo Elías Vargas y el Dr. José Miguel Morales los<br />
responsables de traer a nuestra querida ANCPCPP a<br />
quien se forjaría como un espléndido aficionado y criador;<br />
cuando el Fundo Cuatro Vientos no era más que<br />
su sueño más adorado comenzando a volverse una realidad.<br />
Su primo y mejor amigo, el Dr. José Miguel Morales<br />
Dasso, le regaló a Pepe Lucho la yegua MSCRL Bello<br />

It is difficult not to think about how late it is to write<br />
these lines to speak and honor our experience with a<br />
person as extraordinary as he was, is and forever will be<br />
José Luis Gagliardi Wakeham, our father-in-law. Let it<br />
not be later, a few lines will never be sufficient to explain<br />
how much he meant for his family, his friends, and of<br />
course his aficion, but they will be well-deserved.<br />
Pepe Lucho began his breeding of the Peruvian horse<br />
approximately 22 years ago from the friendship of<br />
names are very important in our world of horses. Those<br />
responsible for initiating our father-in-law in a beautiful<br />
romance, such as that which he enjoyed our passion,<br />
come to light. Don Alfredo Elias Vargas and Dr. José<br />
Miguel Morales were the ones responsible for bringing<br />
Pepe Lucho into to our beloved ANCPCPP, who helped<br />
him become a splendid aficionado and breeder; when<br />
he founded his farm called “Fundo Cuatro Vientos”, it<br />
was nothing more than his most adored dream starting<br />
to become a reality.<br />
His cousin and best friend, Dr. José Miguel Morales Dasso,<br />
gave to Pepe Lucho the mare MSCRL Bello Sueño.

Sueño. Esta bella yegua le produjo ejemplares adorados<br />
por él como fueron JLGW Ancara y JLGW Bello<br />
Sol. Por otro lado, un gran criador, gran Señor y mejor<br />
amigo también, Don Alfredo Elías Vargas, le obsequia a<br />
Pepe Lucho un animal importantísimo en su criadero,<br />
AEV Astria, gran madre reproductora que le produjera<br />
animales como JLGW Ainoha y JLGW Capricho. Aparte<br />
de este gran lazo de aficionados, en el año 1997 Pepe<br />
Lucho se compra al capón LV Céfiro de bozal quien<br />
fuera Campeón de Campeones en los años 1998 y 2002.<br />
Posteriormente en el año 2004, con mucha visión ya<br />
que era sólo una potranca, adquiere del Sr. Luis Alfredo<br />
Malatesta la yegua que posteriormente sería la dueña de<br />
sus sueños, romances y ambiciones dentro del mundo<br />
de nuestro CPP, LAM Loa.<br />
LAM Loa merece un párrafo aparte para hablar de ella<br />
ya que fue para Pepe Lucho el animal que lo hacía vibrar.<br />
Una yegua que prácticamente nunca conoció la<br />
derrota. Desde las categorías al cabestro donde participó<br />
comenzó una senda ganadora que no se detendría<br />

LAM Loa deserves a separate paragraph to talk about<br />
her because for Pepe Lucho she was the horse that made<br />
him vibrate. A mare that practically never met defeat.<br />
From the classes of halter where she began a winning<br />
path that would not stop until the year 2012 when rid-<br />

hasta el año 2012 cuando conducida por su yerno, se<br />
convirtió en Campeona de Campeonas del Concurso<br />
Nacional. Todos los que hemos estado cerca de él recordaremos<br />
ese día porque la manera como Pepe Lucho<br />
te transmitía su felicidad era incomparable (pero a eso<br />
entraremos luego en el presente artículo). LAM Loa,<br />
le produjo y le sigue produciendo excepcionales ejemplares<br />
ganadores de Concursos Nacionales como son<br />
JLGW Loa, JLGW Primavera, JRR Agradecida entre<br />
muchos otros que estamos seguros llegarán. LAM Loa<br />
no solo alcanzó el título máximo en cancha, sino también,<br />
este último Nacional dejó su huella como Mejor<br />
Vientre. Estamos seguros que bajo su mirada siempre<br />
llorosa desde el cielo, aplaudirá las rosetas y pechopetrales<br />
por venir gracias a esa gran yegua madre que<br />
él tanto adora y que hoy su familia con muchísima responsabilidad<br />
y afición mantienen en cría.<br />
En el año 2014, nuestro suegro nos da una orden. Nos<br />
pide que por favor le recibamos un vientre de LAM Loa<br />
de regalo para cada uno. Sin poder hablar mucho del<br />

much, and today his family with a great deal of responsibility<br />
and passion, keeps her in the families breeding<br />
program.<br />
In the year 2014, our father-in-law gave us both an or<br />

por qué nos quería dar este sentimentalmente valiosísimo<br />
regalo, lo recibimos con mucho cariño y afición.<br />
Pepe Lucho no podía comunicarse sin poner el corazón<br />
en cada palabra y manifestar la alegría que le daría que<br />
sus dos yernos aficionados a esta raza mantengan en su<br />
corral un producto de su reina madre. Fue un acto de<br />
desprendimiento que siempre discutimos con él porque<br />
nos parecía demasiado. LAM Loa no había terminado<br />
de dar una cantidad considerable de crías y pensábamos<br />
que Pepe Lucho perdía el tiempo y no aprovechaba su<br />
yegua. Ahí es donde viene la orden de, “sácale porque<br />
yo digo, yo quiero y punto”. Producto de este lindo desprendimiento<br />
nacieron JRR Agradecida y BCD Codiciada<br />
ambas dos potrancas de un altísimo nivel pero<br />
mayor el significado emocional que tiene para nosotros.<br />
Su cría despertaba una llama interna en él. Los ojos se le<br />
abrían, se le humedecían, la sonrisa se le dibujaba cuando<br />
veía sus crías pequeñas. Ver sus caballos ya logrados<br />
era algo que adoraba pero llenarse de ilusión con su potrancada,<br />
lo revivía. Veía sus caballos en persona, regresaba<br />
a su escritorio y hacía un papelito donde ponía a<br />
trabajar su inventiva en pro de nombres para su crías.<br />
Luego, veía los videos y veía si el nombre pensado le<br />
caía bien. Al llegar el momento duro en que Pepe Lucho<br />
tuvo que pasar varios días en el Hospital, su elíxir, su<br />
medicina máxima era que le eseñen videos de las crías<br />
crecidas y las recién nacidas. Pepe levantaba la mano<br />
y te pedía ver fotos y videos, te levantaba el pulgar, te<br />
agarraba la mano y sentías que extrañaba muchísimo<br />
ver sus caballos y pese a estar en el hospital la llama de<br />
la ilusión por sus caballos y su cría sólo se hacía más<br />
fuerte.<br />
Un romántico del caballo, amante de su cría y un<br />
soñador para nuestra ANCPCPP. Pepe Lucho no creía<br />
en un caballo suyo que no hablara de él. Un caballo no<br />
podía ser menos que un espejo de su afición y siempre<br />
se esmeró por darle a sus caballos lo mejor. No escatimaba<br />
en que sus caballos estén bien porque los veía<br />
como su estandarte y cual gallo, en la cancha defendían<br />
los colores de Cuatro Vientos con el corazón. Si bien el<br />
caballo podría no ganar, su caballo nunca pasaría desapercibido,<br />
siempre sería elogiado y lo enorgullecía. Esa<br />
era una premisa básica para para él.<br />
Para hablar de su relación con la ACNCPCPP no podemos<br />
dejar de recordar las reiteradas llamadas y conversaciones<br />
de mínimo una hora, para hablar de la<br />
ANCPCPP. Siempre preocupado por la problemática<br />

came from him "take the breedings because I said so,<br />
period!”. The results of this huge gift to us were both<br />
fillies of a high quality, but more the emotional significance<br />
for us, JRR Agradecida and BCD Codiciada.<br />
His breeding program woke up a flame inside of him.<br />
His eyes opened, the smile that overcame him when he<br />
saw the young foals. Seeing his horses achieve awards<br />
was something that he loved, but watching his young<br />
foals, full of illusion and dreams, revived him. When<br />
looking at his horses in person, he would return to his<br />
desk and pull out his piece of paper where he has names<br />
for their offspring. Then he would watch videos of them<br />
and see if the name he thought of for each one was a<br />
perfect fit. At the time that Pepe Lucho had to spend<br />
several days in the hospital, his elixir, his best medicine<br />
was to watch videos of the grown and the newborn<br />
horses. Pepe would raise his hand to ask to view photos<br />
and videos of them, he would raise his thumb, he would<br />
grab your hand and you could feel he missed seeing his<br />
horses. Despite being in the hospital the flame of the<br />
illusion for its horses and breeding only grew stronger.<br />
A romantic for the horse, lover of his breeding program<br />
and a dreamer for our association the ANCPCPP. Pepe<br />
Lucho did not believe that a horse of yours did not to<br />
speak of ones self. A horse could not be less than a mirror<br />
of his aficion and he always took the best care of<br />
his horses. He never skimped on their care as he always<br />
wanted his horses to be able to defend the colors of his<br />
ranch Fundo Cuatro Vientos with their heart. If a horse<br />
could not win, they would never be discarded or unnoticed,<br />
they would always be praised and treated with<br />
pride. That was a basic premise for him.<br />
To speak of his relationship with the ACNCPCPP we<br />
cannot fail to recall the repeated calls and conversa-

The tough time comes, to talk about him. Talking about<br />
the person, the friend, fellow member, the professional,<br />
the father-in-law, the husband, the father; all characen<br />
nuestra institución pero más que nada en su futuro.<br />
Pepe Lucho nos debe haber consultado por nuestra<br />
opinión mínimo 5 veces acerca si debería tratar de ser<br />
Presidente de la ANCPCPP y esa apertura de conversaciones<br />
eran largas porque Pepe Lucho era feliz soñando<br />
despierto comentándote qué era lo que él quería<br />
hacer de nuestra institución. Desde su postulación en<br />
el año 2010, nuestro suegro se apoyó totalmente en los<br />
“jóvenes” y siempre quiso rodearse de ellos dado que<br />
creía por su gran bagaje de conocimientos corporativos<br />
que para generar cambios, se necesita espíritu y si<br />
ese espíritu llevaba juventud, la combinación era imbatible.<br />
Si bien siempre le dijimos a Pepe Lucho que su<br />
vida tenía que ser de disfrute, afición y alegría con sus<br />
caballos, nunca desestimó llevar el varayoc contra todo<br />
consejo de sus amigos, familiares e incluso doctores. La<br />
ANCPCPP siempre tuvo un espacio importantísimo en<br />
su mente y corazón.<br />
Llega el momento duro, el de hablar de él. Hablar de<br />
la persona, del amigo, del consocio, del profesional, del<br />
suegro, del esposo, del padre; todos personajes y papeles<br />
que jugó en nuestro mundo de manera espléndida.<br />

Always concerned about the problems in our institution,<br />
but more than anything else in their future. Pepe<br />
Lucho must have asked us our opinion at least five times<br />
about whether he should run for President of the AN-<br />

dreaming that it was something he wanted to do for our<br />
institution. From its application in the year 2010, our<br />
father-in-law supported entirely the "younger generation"<br />

Although we always told Pepe Lucho that his life had to<br />

very important space in his heart and mind.
No hay duda cuando uno piensa en Pepe que cuando se<br />
hace el 100% de las cosas con el corazón, se cala en la<br />
vida de todo aquel que se cruza por tu camino. Ese era<br />
nuestro suegro; una persona con más sentimientos que<br />
actitudes, con más corazón que intereses.<br />
Nosotros hicimos el ejercicio de flajelarnos preguntándonos:<br />
¿cuándo fue la última vez que caminando en<br />
Mamacona te encontraste a Pepe Lucho en el camino<br />
y al verte se paraba; bien ensombrerado, abrigado<br />
y bastón en mano te quedaba mirando (con la cabeza<br />
andando marcando 100,000 revoluciones por segundo)<br />
diseñando lo que te diría para arrancarte la sonrisa<br />
más sincera y cariñosa que te puedes dibujar en la cara?<br />
Cuando hoy recordamos a Pepe Lucho, es imposible no<br />
tener pena pero también es imposible no sonreír. Es que<br />
nuestro suegro, ha tenido anécdotas con todos, ha tenido<br />
risas con todos y en todos y cada uno de nosotros,<br />
estamos seguros que ha calado.<br />
Con una fascinación por hacer a la gente sonreír, poniendo<br />
“chapas”, asustando, bromeando, Pepe Lucho<br />
siempre tenía algo bueno para ti. Siendo esto muy importante<br />
en quien lo conoció, también sabrá reconocer<br />
que en nuestro suegro siempre tenías dos oídos y una<br />
mente que te querían escuchar y ayudar. No existía día<br />
en el año en donde Pepe Lucho no tenía tiempo para<br />
uno, no sólo para aconsejar sino para sentirse orgulloso<br />
de tus logros, saber de tu vida y agradecer a Dios de<br />
lo bien que te podía estar yendo. Las palabras familia y<br />
amigo para él nunca tuvo límite ni mucho menos tu vo<br />
límite el cariño y devoción hacia ambas.<br />
Es difícil poner punto final a una oportunidad de rendirle<br />
un merecido homenaje a quien fue nuestro segundo<br />
padre, un gran amigo y aficionado. Como dijimos al<br />
comienzo del presente artículo, jamás se podrán plasmar<br />
suficientes palabras en un papel que rindan el verdadero<br />
reconocimiento que merecía tan linda persona y<br />
amigo. Cada uno “lleva la procesión por dentro” y sabrá<br />
recordar su vida alrededor de nuestro suegro luego de<br />
leer estas breves y humildes palabras de dos personas<br />
que lo adoran, que están orgullosos de ser parte de su<br />
familia y lo extrañan a morir.<br />
Pepe Lucho, tu familia, tus amigos y tus caballos te vamos<br />
a recordar siempre y te vamos a extrañar<br />

his big hat, his warm jacket and with his cane in<br />
hand, he was looking at you (with his making 100,000<br />
revolutions per second) thinking about what he was going<br />
to say to you to make you smile, the most sincere<br />
and loving smile that he could find in you? Today while<br />
we remember Pepe Lucho, it is impossible not to feel<br />
sad, but it is also impossible not to smile. He is our<br />
father-in-law, everyone that knew him has a wonderful<br />
memory of him, has laughed with him and he has made<br />
everyone laugh, and he has left of part of himself within<br />
each of us.<br />
With a fascination with making people smile, putting<br />
"jokes", scaring people, Pepe Lucho always had something<br />
good to share with you. This is very important in<br />
whom she met him, he will also recognize that in our father-in-law<br />
always had two ears and a mind that wanted<br />
to hear and help. There was no day in the year where<br />
Pepe Lucho didn’t have time for everyone, not only to<br />

It is difficult to put an end to an opportunity to pay a<br />
well-deserved tribute to who was our second father, a<br />
great friend and aficionado. As we said at the beginning<br />
of this article, we will never be able to capture enough<br />
words on a piece of paper that yield real recognition deserved<br />
for such a nice person and friend. Each "leads<br />
the procession inside." and you will remember your life<br />
around our father-in-law after reading these brief and<br />
humble words of two people who love him, who are<br />
proud to be part of his family and they miss him to die.<br />
Pepe Lucho, your family, your friends and your horses<br />
we will always remember you and we will miss you very<br />

IMPLEMENTADO EL SISTEMA DE TRES JUECES<br />
EN EL JUZGAMIENTO DEL CABALLO PERUANO<br />
DE PASO.<br />
Luego de algunos años de haberse implementado el<br />
sistema de juzgamiento de tres jueces por separado y con<br />
cartillas, así como todas sus restricciones en cuanto a la<br />
comunicación de los jueces entre ellos y con el publico<br />
a través de las sustentaciones, analizaremos de manera<br />
absolutamente imparcial sus resultados. Consideramos<br />
que la manera mas efectiva de lograrlo es a través de<br />
estadísticas puntuales, únicamente números que nada<br />
tienen que ver con las opiniones personales. A partir<br />
de este momento leerán ustedes hechos que sucedieron<br />
a lo largo del Concurso Nacional en su edición 2017 y<br />
que perfectamente se pueden corroborar.<br />
• Por primera ves en la historia de los concursos se solicitó<br />
una ambulancia para atender a un jalador que,<br />
producto de la demora en el proceso de corroboración<br />
de datos, sufrió una descompensación, este tuvo que ser<br />
reemplazado por otro en el ultimo tercio de la prueba.<br />
Claramente en ventaja con respecto al resto de participantes<br />
y aunque era lo correcto a hacer, no si este debidamente<br />
reglamentado o en todo caso permitido.<br />
• Pudimos apreciar una categoría de merito zootécnico<br />
que duro alrededor de una hora y que conllevo a la<br />
postergación de la siguiente prueba para el día siguiente<br />
pues no había suficiente luz. Alterando así el itinerario y<br />

JUDGING OF THE PERUVIAN PASO HORSE.<br />
After some years of have implemented the system of judging<br />
of three judges separately and with individual cards,<br />
as well as all its restrictions with regards to the communication<br />
of the judges among themselves and with the public<br />
through the explinations, where there are absolutely<br />
impartial results. We believe that the most effective way<br />
to achieve this is through statistics, only numbers that<br />
have nothing to do with the personal opinions. From this<br />
moment will read you what took place along the ANCP-<br />
CPP National Competition in 2017 that can be analyzed<br />
and collaborated.<br />
• For the first time in the history of the national show a<br />
ambulance had to enter the arena to attend to a halter<br />
runner that, as a result of the delay in the process of corroboration<br />
of data, suffered a decompensation, who had<br />
to be replaced by another in the last third of the class.<br />
Clearly this gave an advantage with respect to the rest<br />
of participants and although it was the right thing to do,<br />
and our rules do not cover this situation or show if in any<br />
case it is allowed.<br />
• We watched a Zootecnico class that lasted about an<br />
hour and that led to the postponement of the next class<br />
to the next day because there was not enough light. Thus<br />
altering the itinerary and the transmission of the show<br />
that could not collect the images of the last class of the

mas graves de esto, no era la primera ves que sucedía.<br />
Ahora pasamos a los puntos realmente graves.<br />
• Finalizado el concurso en mención uno de los jueces<br />

del mismo presento un reclamo pues en la publicación<br />
de las cartillas habían unas que no coincidían con lo que<br />
el había evaluado. Felizmente estas diferencias no alteraron<br />
el resultado final pero bien podrían haberlo hecho.<br />
Esto si es grave pues devela que este sistema permite un<br />
grado de error que nos podría llevar a que los caballos<br />
ocupen lugares que no les corresponden según la evaluación<br />
de los jueces. Imaginen un campeón de campeones<br />
que no es. Realmente peligroso.<br />
• Hubo treinta y cuatro (34) categorías en el ultimo nacional,<br />
sin contar pruebas especiales y campeonatos, la<br />
coincidencia de los tres jueces con respecto al primer<br />
lugar fue únicamente en ocho (8) oportunidades, es<br />
decir 24% del total. Peor aun, resulta mucho mas desconcertante<br />
que con respecto a los tres primeros de las<br />
diversas categorías no hubo absolutamente ninguna coincidencia:<br />
0%.<br />
REACCIONES:<br />
Presenciaremos una edición del nacional este 2018 con<br />
un sistema de dos jueces conversado. Los asociados no<br />
quisieron mas las cartillas ni el software ni las pantallas<br />
que se miran constantemente. Asimismo en Panamá,<br />
cuyo nacional tuve la suerte de juzgar, se eligió también<br />
un sistema de dos conversado y sin cartillas.<br />
CONCLUSIONES:<br />
Se prueban sistemas constantemente, se han utilizado<br />
todos. Se inventaron nuevos cuyos resultados hemos<br />
descrito en esta pequeña reseña. Absolutamente todos,<br />
los buenos y los descabellados, llegan como novedosos<br />
y se extinguen en medio de insatisfacciones con los resultados<br />
de los juzgamientos. Difícil seria creer que no<br />
exista ninguno bueno. Pareciera que el sistema no es el<br />
problema ¿O no?.<br />

than with regard to the first three of the various<br />
categories there was absolutely no match: 0%.<br />
REACTIONS:<br />
We will witness a national show of this year 2018 with<br />
a system of two conversing judges. The members did<br />
not want any more seperate cards, special software to<br />
use, nor screens with the individual judes results that<br />
the spectators were constantly watching. Also in Panama,<br />
whose national I had the good fortune to judge, this<br />
same system of two conferring judges was also chosen.<br />
CONCLUSIONS:<br />
Systems are constantly tested, and we have used them<br />
all. New systems were invented, the results of which we<br />
have described in this brief analysis. Absolutely all the<br />
systems, the good ones and the outlandish ones, arrive<br />
as new and exciting and later disappear in the middle<br />
of dissatisfaction with the results of judging results. It<br />
would be difficult to believe that there is any good systems<br />
to use. In my observation, it seems that the system<br />
is not the problema, correct?<br />

Comienzan ya los preparativos, algunos tramos<br />
son encalados y se aprestan a recibir a sus<br />
distinguidos huéspedes que vienen dos veces al<br />
año a celebrar la fiesta.<br />
Las hembras lucen muy femeninas, los potros<br />
presumidos se alzan engreídos ante tanto bello<br />
ejemplar.<br />
No se sabe si es mas alegre la víspera que el<br />
propio evento, es una semana que los hombres<br />
se escapan de sus obligaciones para compartir<br />
ese ambiente festivo, las mujeres más discretas<br />
se dejan ver cuando cae la tarde.<br />
Evento que servirá a todos de termómetro para<br />
saber que tan bien se han hecho las cosas durante<br />
el medio año trascurrido y para los más vivos<br />
saber que hay que corregir para el siguiente concurso.<br />
El necio pensará que está en lo correcto,<br />
que el juez se equivoca y seguirá andando en<br />
huachano.<br />
