12 Beauty Boosts If your skin (like you) is feeling a bit ‘meh’ after your summer holiday, try Green People’s Beauty Boost Skin Restore, £21. The creators seem to have set themselves a challenge to see how many supercharged natural ingredients they can fit into one product. There’s everything from shea butter and avocado to wakame (a type of seaweed), aloe, rosemary and evening primrose. Skin instantly feels much softer, plumper and fresher. This will last several times longer than a bottle of shampoo. There’s less plastic waste, and the bars are easy to transport. I’ve been trialling The Shine Bar, which lathers well, leaves hair feeling clean and shiny, and has a pleasant citrus fragrance. The eco-brand has recently released a Skin Food Body Butter, £18.95, which is every bit as good as I was hoping and perfect for uber-dry skin. It’s very rich but absorbs quickly and really ‘feeds’ the skin with cocoa butter, shea butter, calendula, chamomile and other nourishing natural ingredients. See www.weleda.co.uk. Keep that summer feeling going as long as possible, with a colourful nail polish. Jolly Good by Butter London is a rich, cheerful coral that suits most skin tones. Its chip resistant formula is supposed to keep your nails looking salon-worthy for up to 10 days. It costs £15 at www.lookfantastic.com.
13 Season of Song Parbold Douglas Music launches its brand new season of concerts in <strong>September</strong>, to be performed at the acoustically superb auditorium at Parbold Village Hall. The new calendar opens with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra’s Ambassadors Sextet in <strong>September</strong>, (21st) performing swinging sensations from The Great American Songbook. October’s concert (12th) is performed by the highly regarded Brodsky Quartet alongside international star Martin Roscoe, ahead of a Christmas event (Dec 7) which combines traditional and medieval folk with a contemporary beat in ‘Sing we Yule’ by Joglaresa.
