As we start a new year, I want<br />
to take a moment to reflect<br />
on the past year and all the<br />
exciting happenings that went<br />
on at TileBar.<br />
Last year, we proudly opened<br />
the doors to our first brick and<br />
mortar flagship showroom<br />
in NYC’s Flatiron district. This<br />
marked a huge milestone<br />
for the company; I couldn’t<br />
be prouder of the hard work<br />
my team put in to reach<br />
it. The 9,500 square foot<br />
space is home to our latest<br />
tile collections and is an<br />
extension of the interactive<br />
experience all have come to<br />
love about our e-commerce<br />
site.<br />
To celebrate this<br />
accomplishment, the TileBar<br />
family, top designers and<br />
industry personalities, came together in November for a night of<br />
drinks, food, and festivities. We had a terrific time as we toasted to<br />
the grand opening of the NYC flagship showroom and to the future.<br />
I’m also delighted to say we have<br />
extended our fulfillment capabilities<br />
by moving into a 300,000 square<br />
foot warehouse and are consistently<br />
working to improve the user<br />
experience of our website to better<br />
suit your tile needs.<br />
This year be on the look-out: We<br />
have several collaborations with<br />
talented designers in the works,<br />
expected expansion of our amazing<br />
team, and so much more.<br />
I’m grateful for all of you who have<br />
been on this journey and all of you<br />
who are just joining in.<br />

Encaustic tile has been<br />
around for ages. In fact,<br />
while the name may<br />
be new to you, you’ve<br />
certainly come across<br />
the look.<br />
While tile usually has<br />
roots in Asia, traditional<br />
encaustic originated<br />
in Europe. European<br />
craftsmen wanted<br />
to simulate the look<br />
of Roman mosaics.<br />
They did so by etching<br />
patterns into stones<br />
with knives and filling<br />
in the holes with clay.<br />
In time, this tedious<br />
process paid off. The<br />
earthy-toned tiles, with<br />
their classic motifs<br />
livened up floors all<br />
over Europe by the<br />
1200s.<br />
Fun fact: The term<br />
"encaustic" is a bit of<br />
a misnomer; it was<br />
coined by Victorians who<br />
admired the Medieval<br />
tiles and thought they<br />
looked like a type of<br />
enamelwork they were<br />
privy to.<br />

of Shelley Stein-Bigajer, an interior<br />
designer and graduate of the Parsons<br />
School of Design. After working with<br />
countless clients, Shelley noticed a<br />
need within the vanity marketplace.<br />
Her vision was to design beautiful and<br />
functional pieces that could work in<br />
many spaces.<br />
In 2014, Shelley teamed up with Eli<br />
Mechlovitz, a well-known “Industry<br />
Disruptor” and owner of Soho Studio<br />
Corp. Eli is a proponent of creating<br />
seamless customer experiences while<br />
offering high quality products.Together,<br />
they founded Chameleon Concepts; an<br />
innovative bathroom vanity brand that<br />
celebrates personalized luxury without<br />
compromising on functionality.<br />
Years after inception, Chameleon Concepts<br />
is still going strong. Their latest collection,<br />
Alma, is the perfect fusion of form and<br />

The concept of working hard is<br />
not one that’s foreign to millennial artist,<br />
Elizabeth Sutton. The 20-something visual artist,<br />
philanthropist, and “mom-preneur” has been featured in Bravo’s<br />
“Million Dollar Listing”, The New York Post, and Arch Digest. She’s not only<br />
one of the most ambitious people we’ve met at TileBar but also one of the most<br />
determined. Her work ethic is infectious, and her creative genius, hard to rival. That’s<br />
why when the discussion of working together on a tile collection presented itself,<br />
there was nothing to do but start.<br />
Elizabeth and TileBar’s CEO met at the opening of our NYC Flagship showroom<br />
through her interior design friend, Micky Klein. When it comes to business<br />
prospecting, Elizabeth does everything with vibes in mind. She runs her life and<br />
career choices based on vibes and energy and as she says, “I just felt good vibes<br />
that night which is what I’m about. I started speaking to TileBar’s CEO, Eli Mechlovitz,<br />
I got the feeling we’d work well together.”<br />
Unsurprisingly, our Eli felt the same about Elizabeth.<br />
From that moment until now, Elizabeth has spent countless hours designing<br />
unique-to-her tile and meeting with our team to finalize it. While we can’t show<br />
you the tiles until they launch, the mutual goal was to create a collection that is<br />
versatile by designing tiles that could either be muted for those who have more<br />
simplistic taste or patterned for those more daring. The<br />
tile reflects Elizabeth’s personal style and vision yet has<br />
mass appeal. When asked about the focus on creating<br />
the collection, she said: “It was on finding the perfect<br />
proportion and scale of the tile, as well as creating depth<br />
by playing with different colors and shades of marble<br />
to create contrast. Butterflies are my trademark, so I<br />
needed to include them into my designs.”<br />
Elizabeth Sutton has been nothing short of a delight<br />
and we look forward to unveiling her collection at Arch<br />
Digest’s show in Spring <strong>2019</strong>. Let the anticipation build<br />
and keep on the look-out for the launch of this one-ofa-kind<br />
collection. If Elizabeth’s hints aren’t enough, let us<br />
assure you, her tile is sure to captivate as much as she<br />
does when you meet her.<br />

We've also included inspiring and calm office spaces, designed<br />
to help propel staff development and performance. The on-site<br />
offices allow our team to smoothly handle the day-to-day operations<br />
of a logistics center while seamlessly liaising with HQ as and when<br />
needed.<br />
This state-of-the-art facility is a natural extension of the company and<br />
we've made the efforts to create an environment where company<br />
culture is able to thrive, just as it does at our corporate headquarters.<br />
