This day session is an interactive workshop focused on equine<br />

cardiology. The day is split into two sessions, the first concentrating<br />

on clinical pathophysiology of equine heart disease, and the<br />

second on diagnosing arrhythmias during and after exercise with<br />

an interactive ECG reading session.<br />

The programme aims to devleop an understanding of the<br />

pathophysiology and diagnosis of common equine heart diseases<br />

and refresh knowledge on auscultation, echocardiography and<br />

electrocardiography, whilst building confidence in identifying and<br />

interpreting heart murmurs, echo abnormalities and arrhythmias.<br />

A day course discussing important internal medicine topics, and<br />

learning the skills of cardiac ultrasound, endoscopy and sampling<br />

of the guttural pouches and performing a tracheal wash and BAL.<br />

These are valuable skills essential for vets seeing horses in general<br />

practice. Pre-course learning allows for emphasis on the day to be<br />

placed on the practical skills required. The course also includes a<br />

tour of Liphook Equine Hospital and Laboratory.<br />
