Under new leadership, Kanu Wines have<br />
entered a new era of winemaking. While<br />
this naturally comes with plenty of change,<br />
our owners are committed to one very<br />
important value that has always stood<br />
the test of time at Kanu: every bountiful<br />
harvest will be utilised in such a way that it<br />
delivers amazing flavours and aromas that<br />
are true to the area of Stellenbosch and the<br />
wonderful Polkadraai Hills.<br />
Since 1692, the soil on which Kanu stands<br />
has produced some of the finest wine in<br />
the area and we look forward to continuing<br />
the legacy of this renowned area.<br />

The name Kanu is from a legend told by<br />
an old Xhosa man who was raised in his<br />
grandmother’s house on the soil of the<br />
farm that is located in the Polkadraai Hills<br />
of Stellenbosch.<br />
Every day, he would tell stories of the<br />
mythical bird he had seen flying over<br />
the farm. According to him, if the bird’s<br />
shadow touches your crop, you are<br />
promised a bountiful year’s harvest.<br />
And, with the Kanu name, comes the<br />
Kanu promise: that each wine made by<br />
Kanu, no matter the price point, is made<br />
in such a way that it will always deliver on<br />
quality and flavour.<br />
