Road o 2020
Sean Foerster
Ukeedaze: When did you start surfing?
Sean: I first started surfing down in Costa Rica when I was about
five years old.
But Ucluelet is a small town, meaning everybody knows everyone
which means they really take care of each other, so I have felt really
fortunate to have met the people I have and they make me feel like
part of the family.
Ukeedaze: What made you decide to make the move over to Canada
part time?
Sean: I decided to move to Canada because I love it up here. All my
trainings for Team Canada are here also, so living here permanently
made things a lot easier. Also, for my surfing career to continue and
to able to work with brands like O’Neill, it was a necessary move.
Ukeedaze: What’s been the biggest challenge with coming to Canada?
Sean: The biggest challenge of coming to Canada, besides the cold
water, I would have to say has been leaving my family and friends.
Ukeedaze: The thing you miss in Costa Rica the most is?
Sean: The thing I miss most about Costa Rica is the tropical fruit.
Being able to go in my back yard and pick Bananas, Papayas,
Mangoes, etcetera is the best. But the berry picking has kept me
busy enough!
Ukeedaze: You're really into healthy eating and living, when did you
get into fitness and nutrition?
Sean: I feel like my whole life I've been pretty aware about being
healthy and eating the right things. It really is the most precious
knowledge you can have. The system creates this illusion of what
we should be putting into our bodies and its so obscene what they
make us think is healthy eating. You are what you put into your
bodies, and that’s the reality of it.
Ukeedaze: You've spent a lot of time training in Tofino with Surf
Canada coaches: Shannon and Albie, how has this experience helped
you?
Sean: Working with Shannon and Albie has been a dream come
true. The experience has been incredible and definitely helped my
surfing reach the next level. Just to have the opportunity to train
with coaches like them makes me feel really blessed.
next travels will be Indonesia for a little over a month, then back
to Central America for the Winter. I will be making a couple trips
up to Nicaragua and El Salvador for training and hopefully make it
up to the North Shore sometime in January. After that, back up to
Canada for the rest of the year.
Ukeedaze: What else are you passionate about aside from surfing?
Sean: I am passionate about being the best version of myself
possible, and to help as many other people along the way. Besides
that, cooking plant-based meals is one of my favorite things in the
world.
Ukeedaze: After spending the last five months in Canada what's
next on your itinerary?
Sean: These past five months have definitely been life changing. My
Ukeedaze: Shout Outs?
Sean: Big Shout out to Ukeedaze for everything they have done for
me and everyone else involved! •
