DANCING ON HOT PAVEMENT
Jesus answered them, “Do you
now believe? Behold, the hour is
coming, indeed it has come, when
you will be scattered, each to his
own home, and will leave me
alone. Yet I am not alone, for the
Father is with me. I have said
these things to you, that in me
you may have peace. In the
world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome
the world. John 16:31-33
Well, we are all thoroughly engaged in our schedules now
and the excitement of September has become the panic of
October. So consider this! Have you ever held a hot cup of
coffee, or tea, and picked up the cup without the handle only
to discover that your hand began to burn? Or, have you ever
picked up a hot bowl of food on the dinner table? You
quickly set it back down.
Here’s another scenario. Do you remember as a child going
barefooted outside in the summertime and stepping on the
pavement? Did a little dance, didn’t you? You couldn’t find
a patch of grass or pavement in the shade fast enough.
Well, you now have that image. Living through life’s pressures
may be compared to holding that hot dish, or dancing
on hot pavement. No one promised you won’t feel the heat.
Our only certainty comes from Christ who promises He’ll be
with us through the fire.
There are many of life’s hot spots we need to walk through.
But why? Instead of just reacting each and every time, here
are some helpful tips. The hot spots won’t go away, but at
DANCING ON HOT PAVEMENT
4
least you won’t get burned as badly!
First, Pause. Take time out to look inward and then up. Remember Christ is always in you and with you.
You are never alone.
Second is Patience. The difficult time will pass. It may feel like you are in a repeating time warp, or experiencing
Groundhog Day, but realize that pain is usually time-limited. All problems have a beginning and an
end. See this difficulty through with prayer, hope and faith.
Next, you should arm yourself with Perseverance. Keep on walking or running. A surefire way to get burned
is to stop moving. When you are afraid, or under extreme stress, or hurting…keep going. With God’s help,
you will make it through the big challenges by dealing with the small, everyday tasks.
Fourth is Courage! Make rough times work for you. Not everything is good, but everything can be used for
good. It may take some time (back to patience). Look for positive ways to learn, grow, or cope during your
hot spot of pain or stress.
Fifth is Contentment. Take “What is” and make the most of it. Make lemonade, as they say, from your lemons.
Look at the rose and not the thorns. You are not called upon to create perfection from every situation,
only to make the most of it. Don’t waste your time on ceaseless complaining, but look for meaning and joy in
all situations. This will lead you back to courage. Your list of haves is usually much longer than the havenots.
Next, take Responsibility. Clean up your own mess. Don’t see yourself as either a victim or a martyr. Stand
on your own two feet and don’t try to blame others for your problems. Choose to live the rest of your life
with a controlled response to circumstances or situations. You are in control more than you know. You can’t
control what happens to you, but you can choose the way you look at your experiences. You can choose how
you will deal with situations.
Seventh is Live a Life of Integrity. Follow the teachings of Christ! Choose the hard right over the easy wrong
every time. You will have more strength for handling the ordeals in life if you have the courage to be true to
God and the Church’s values. Hypocrisy destroys integrity. Stand your ground and accept your consequences.
Eighth on my list is Show Gratitude. Be gladder rather then madder. Expressions of gratitude calm the soul
and clear the mind. The hot spots of anger or apathy are quickly cooled with a “thank you,” and a humble
spirit.
Now for my favorite…have a Sense of Humor! Have as much fun as you Can! Anticipation of fun raises the
level of your energy. Learn to find humor and laugh through your hot spots. Without fun and faith, it is a colorless
and drab world.
Finally, Show Your Passion. Be enthusiastic. Have a passion for The Faith and for living and let it radiate in
all you do. Let your life shine. Learn to love Christ and life. Then, when you are on the hot pavement, dance
with enthusiasm and passion.
Well, there is my plan for life’s hot spots. You will always have them, so why not have a plan? Just remember,
if you keep holding the hot cup, or walking barefoot on hot pavement, and you do nothing, you will get
burned!

Fr. Yanni’s Reflection
The Human Condition and Living our Call
A month into our new routines (work, school days, sports, clubs, commitments,
church, ministries, bible studies, prayer, festivals, service, GOYA, dance, Greek
school, and maintaining friendships) we may find ourselves very busy, still adjusting,
and in all likelihood struggling from time to time. We’re all living our lives
very different when it comes to the little details, and very similarly when it comes
to the big picture experiences that we share as a result of our human condition.
The human condition is one of bearing (carrying, and being) the image of God in a
fallen world, a world of brokenness, and learning to live and love in the midst of
pain, and learning to exist and dwell where there is shame, adversity and hard work
to be done.
Lots of times we find ourselves at a place we refer to as “down in the dumps”.
This place, the bottom, is real. Sometimes it’s physical, sometimes emotional,
sometimes spiritual, sometimes psychological, and often times all four at once. We are called to be Christ-like
in these moments, we are called to remember that God is Our Father, and that as His children we are to go to
Him, and rely on Him for His help and guidance. Easier said than done in this day and age!
Our “natural” inclination is not one that likes to dwell in pain, shame, and suffering, such a way of being simply
does not come naturally in this world, were instinctive creatures, and as such we minimize (or hide our) hurt
and conceal our shame. Adam and Eve, some of our most (in)famous, most distant relatives, once ate fruit
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the first thing they did was cover themselves!
They covered themselves because being naked means being vulnerable and easily damaged, it means being
subject to judgement for one’s health or beauty, it means that our faults stand out. And because we don’t want
our faults to stand out we hide them, we cover them up. When we realize our vulnerabilities we hide them, and
when we can’t hide them we hide ourselves. We hide ourselves because we feel unworthy, or because we are
ashamed. (At work, school, sports, even at family gatherings, and perhaps Church?)
God is the one we cannot hide our faults from, and because we cannot hide our weaknesses, mistakes, and
shortcomings, we do our best to hide ourselves (unsuccessfully, much like a child under a blanket easily spotted
by the parent.). We judge ourselves harshly, or avoid judgement altogether because we do not wish to be
found unworthy, especially when we stand before God. Because we are unable or unwilling to stand before
Him as ourselves, we cannot walk with Him. We struggle being in His presence, because we are ashamed of
our shortcomings, and so we do the obvious thing, we pretend He isn’t there, we ignore Him because a conversation
with Him would be too much to bear.
This tendency to avoid and hide from the reality of pain and being insufficient filters down even to our muscles.
Our bodies are quick to slouch and sink down into bad posture because sitting up straight is hard work,
sometimes even painful in the moment. However failing to sit up or stand up straight long term over time allows
our muscles to grow weak and loose from a lack of proper use. The same holds true for our souls, when
we abandon caring about things because of the pain associated with them our spiritual tendons and muscles
also grow weak. We lose the capacity to focus, encounter, and love, which creates within us a toxic kind of
emptiness, a dark empty place that invites all sorts of distraction, restlessness, anxiety, fear, and apathy.
Standing up straight physically means accepting the burden, pain and struggle of being. To boldly accept the
terrible responsibility of life with your eyes open, to answer God’s calling out to you. To stand before Him,
and walk with Him, and be ok with Him walking along side you. Living the human condition and bearing
(carrying, and being) the image of God in a fallen world, a world of brokenness, and learning to live and love
in the midst of pain, and learning to exist and dwell where there is shame, adversity and hard work to be done.
It means willingly taking on the sacrifices necessary to generate a productive and meaningful reality, one in
which you act in order to please God.
(Continued on page 6)

You are the Voice of Christ in a Changing World
The base from which we serve as the Voice of Christ in a Changing World is the parish. A
strong parish provides opportunities for sharing the Good News of Christ, for welcoming
those that are searching for a spiritual home, and a base from which we are sent out into the
world. The parish also provides a place for worship, community and education in the faith.
To be stewards of the Gospel, we need to be stewards of our parish. This requires the vision
and inspiration to see the parish, not as it is, but as it could be. We are called to offer ourselves
and our treasure to make our local church all that is can be.
(Continued from
The Human Condition and Living our Call
Learning to live in God’s presence and be ok with His silence, standing fast and strong in the face of pain, suffering,
and fear with faith and trust in Him is our call. When we answer the call, with much practice and determination
we are able to stand fast during the illness of a loved one, perhaps the death of a parent, and any other
struggles thrown our way. In doing so, we allow others to find strength alongside us when they would otherwise
be overwhelmed with despair. In answering God’s call and accepting His will, we become emboldened,
and our light shines and encourages others to do so and the darkness shrinks away. Then we are truly
His children.

Νά τὀ
Parish Council News
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
John Maihos, President
8
As this year winds down, please know that your Parish Council is already looking
ahead to a new calendar year. In the coming weeks you will be asked to consider a pledge to
our church for 2020. The first Sunday in December is “Pledge Sunday,” so that when the
calendar flips, your new pledges can be ready to take effect. At the Council level, I have
asked all members to please have their pledge amounts before Pledge Sunday.
Please understand the concept of pledging and the Stewardship program in general.
Each adult of our parish is asked to give what they can in support of our beautiful community. A young adult
(18 and over) may not be in a position to give as much as someone in the prime of their career. Parents with a
family of teenagers probably work hard to find something for the church whenever possible. And of course,
those in their twilight years may be in a unique financial position.
For many of our parishioners, having the privilege to give back to God for all that they have in their
life (family, health and hope) is their singular motivation. For others it may be that staying connected with
the church, and being involved with our activities, makes it a bit easier to assign a monetary value to the benefits
we receive. For some people, having a say in what goes on is a motivator to giving more to our ministries.
Whatever the driving force, all we can do is ask for your thoughtful and prayerful consideration as you
plan for your 2020 giving.
Whether you give in the hundreds or the thousands, only you can make that choice. I will ask you to
consider whatever makes you feel good!
Our Stewardship Committee is working hard toward setting some goals. One multi-year goal is to
have the money received through pledges match the amount we need to operate the church. While that may
seem obvious to some, the truth is that pledges don’t currently cover the operating expenses of our parish.
Right now, pledges cover approximately 60% of what it costs to support our ministries. We make things balance
through special events like our summer picnic and the fall festival, and the donations we receive through
the offering basket and candles. However, if those sources have a dip in funds, we would have to review and
possibly scale back some of the wonderful programs we offer and enjoy. No one wants that, and knowing the
generosity of our members, it won’t happen.
Another factor that we have to face is, that as the current crop of volunteers ages out, that we have the
young people ready and willing to take over our various ministries and programs. This is a difficult challenge
as it addresses the need to replace ourselves.
If anyone has ideas or suggestion, please share them. If you feel that St. Vasilios can be doing more
for you, please talk to me, or any of our clergy members.
On other matters, I want to thank everyone who made our summer coffee hours so successful. It was
very nice seeing everyone each Sunday…. Thank you to Andrea O’Donnell for agreeing to help with our
“green” committee. The Encyclical for the Ecclesiastical New Year and the Day for the Protection of our
Natural Environment motivated her to help. Others will be needed for that work too…. Thank you to our
building committee for the continued work on our roof and HVAC systems. Things will come to fruition after
the festival to avoid any inconveniences…. It was a special day on September 8, as we recognized Helen Terzakis
for her 45 years of service to St. Vasilios. It was especially meaningful to me as it was Mrs. Terzakis
who shared with my mother, the car-pooling to Greek School. It was also great to see her children - my
childhood friends - Cindy (Terzakis) Gakos and John Terzakis…. The Men’s Club and Philoptochos had a
very successful International Festival. Kudos to everyone involved…. Thank you to Ricky, our maintenance
man and janitor. He is around to lend a hand and is involved in many of the behind-the-scenes efforts to keep
things going…. Finally, I am always thankful to the office staff including Irene and Chrissa. They keep us
going in more ways than we can know!
Sincerely,
John Maihos, Parish Council President

Update on Stewardship
It gives me great pleasure to write my first column as the new Chairperson of the Stewardship Committee.
First of all, we will provide basic information in every bi-monthly bulletin concerning our stewardship numbers
so we can be transparent and you can be kept informed. The first update is below.
As of August 31, 2019
# of Stewards 2018
Stewards
Total
Pledged
Amount
2019
Stewardship
Budget
2019 Total
Operational
Budget
717 862 $349,529 $393,000 $646,000
The 717 stewards can be broken down to the categories given in the table below.
Categories # of pledged stewards Percentage
$5 -$100 116 16.20%
$101-$500 376 52.40%
$501- $1000 158 22%
$1001-$2000 53 7.40%
$2001-$3000 8 1.10%
$3001-$4000 6 0.90%
$4000+ 0
As you see, the gap between pledged amount and budgeted total costs is substantial. While we do have other
revenue such as candles, trays, events, rent, etc., we do have to dip into our reserves to cover costs. Our concern
is that one of these extra revenue streams could dwindle or even stop, thereby exposing St. Vasilios to
cost cutting to balance the budget.

ORTHODOX LIFE – October/November 2019 15
To help avoid this potential situation, the Parish Council has approved a new stewardship
program that will help preserve the future of our church.
A Pathway to Sustainability
To Preserve the Future
St. Vasilios
Stewardship Challenge
Goals
900 stewards
Cover Operational costs
25 new converts
The Challenge is both ambitious and realistic, and it speaks to how we conduct ourselves today for future generations.
By splitting the Challenge into 3 goals we can better concentrate on each activity. For instance, to
attain 900 stewards, we need more cradle (Greek) families as well as converts from other denominations.
With more stewards, this will automatically help out with our operational costs.
I’m sure this Challenge will be unending and it certainly won’t happen in the foreseeable future. This is a
shared responsibility so all existing stewards are encouraged to contribute in their own unique way. Today we
make the start and tomorrow we plan the implementation.
So please do look for more updates and feel free to message me at stewardship@stvasilios.org with any comments
or ideas. We are also looking to revive the Stewardship Committee so please let me know if you have
any interest. Our first attention will focus on young adults and outreach to non-orthodox people.
Thank you for your attention.
Martin Scrivener

Church School News
The Church School invites your children to participate in Church School each Sunday. We think it’s important
for the students to be in church for the Divine Liturgy, so Church School classes begin at 10:30am. In
addition to learning about their faith, classes provide an opportunity for the children to socialize and share a
sense of community with their church and one another. Faith, fun & friendship won’t happen unless your
child comes to class. It’s never too late to join!
On September 8 th , the parish recognized Helen Terzakis who taught the children of St. Vasilios for 54 years.
A Coffee Hour reception was held in her honor. We thank Helen for her love of Christ and for instilling that
love to her many students. Thank you to the PTA for setting up & cleaning up and to the Men’s Club for
their food donations.
This year we welcome some ‘new’ teachers; James Leras (HS), Elias Andrianopoulos (7/8), Andrea O’Donnell
and Jim Yavorski (5/6). A special thank you to all of them as they guide their students.
The Church School students will be involved many ministries this school year that will help those less fortunate.
We will hold our 6 th annual Coat Drive from Sept. 29 th to Nov. 10 th . Please donate new or lightly used
winter items to marked bins in the Educational Center Foyer. Students will donate winter socks to the Blessing
Bag ministry. We will again support Operation Troop Support and Hagar’s Sisters.
Every year Persephone and Anastasia, grade 2 teachers, organize and staff the Country Store booth at our annual
Church Festival. This year’s festival is on Nov. 1, 2 & 3. Homemade baked goods are always welcomed.
If you have any questions please call Persephone Santos at 978-531-2121. And please visit the Country
Store this year!
Upcoming events: Notices will go out to all students
October 13 th - Teaching Liturgy As Father Yanni celebrates the Divine Liturgy, the altar will face the congregation
giving all an opportunity to see what is taking place. Students are asked to sit in reserved pews with
their classes.
December 15 th - Christmas Pageant The pageant is held in Church during the first Divine Liturgy. (Snow
ST. VASILIOS GREEK SCHOOL
ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ ΑΓΙΟΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΣ
Research demonstrates benefits of early exposure to multiple languages.
Our Greek School program begins at at 3.
Even if you do not speak Greek, it is a wonderful language to introduce your child to. There are countless
words in the English language that are of Greek origin. Exposure to Greek will assist your child with all content
areas, especially with Math and Science as they progress through school.
We are fortunate to have such a wonderful program in our community! You can still enroll your child!
Take advantage of exposing your children to Greek, they will not regret it!
Our Greek school is open to students of other communities as well as to those of the greater community.
The St. Vasilios Greek School has functioned continuously since the founding of our parish. The Greek
School is the oldest educational program within the church. The school offers the youth of our community
knowledge of the Greek language, a love for the Orthodox Faith, and an appreciation for the culture and history
of the Greek people. Our students build strong bonds with their classmates that last a lifetime.Children
age 3 can enroll in the Introductory class (3-4 year olds) and students entering Kindergarten can enroll in the
Pre-School class. The Introductory class will meet every Wednesday. Pre-K through 6 th grade will meet
Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-5:00.
We are flexible if you cannot commit to 3 days a week.
We are off to a great start! An Agiasmo service was held on September 11 th to celebrate the new school year!
Exciting News
The following students successfully passed the Ellinomatheia Exam this year:
Alexandra Kourtelidis
Theodosia Kourtelidis
Nicholas Leras
Eoannis Nako
Ioustina Nako
Joanna Tsetsakoy
A1
A2
A2
The Ellinomatheia Exam is administered once a year worldwide and students that pass it receive a Certificate
of Attainment in Modern Greek. It is an official certificate issued by the Greek Ministry of Education. It is
given to candidates who successfully complete oral and written exams in Greek. There are six levels( A1,
A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).
This is a huge accomplishment for our Greek School.
New Educational Tools
Since the Greek School is equipped with high speed internet, we have decided to begin making our classrooms
high tech. We will be installing projectors and smart pens in two of our classroom to make our instruction
more hands on. This year we have purchased the the Ellinopoula program for students in grades Pre-K
through 6th. Ellinopoula is a unique e-learning platform designed to make Greek for kids exciting. Ellinopoula
integrates fun games, engaging videos, and thousands of interactive educational activities with Greek
mythology, history, and culture.

Dear Reverend Fathers, Deacon, Sisters and Friends,
We have much to report since the September monthly bulletin was distributed.
On August 15 th , Tina Manolakis and her dedicated committee prepared and
hosted the coffee hour which followed the Feast of the Dormition of Our
Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary Divine Liturgy.
Many beautiful icons of the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary were displayed
for our enjoyment. Thank you, Tina and Ladies for the lovely icon
display and for your hard work preparing, cooking/baking, serving and
cleaning up so that we could once again enjoy fellowship with our St. Vasilios
Parishioners. Also, many thanks to all that brought delicious goodies
and gave of their time, talent and treasures.
Ruth Morfis, her committee and other Philoptochos members had fun selling
Greek pastries and spanakopita from the Philoptochos Athena booth
at the Peabody International Festival in Peabody Square on September
8 th . It a was a perfect weather day, our Chapter raised more money than
the previous year, and we had fun in the process. A full report was presented
by Stacey Yavorski at the September 18 th meeting.
The Philoptochos Business Meeting and Make-Over Presentation was
held on Wednesday September 18 th . Three ladies of different age groups
received cosmetic makeovers from Areti Damianakos, a fellow parishioner
and fantastic makeup artist from Classic Faces. All enjoyed light refreshments
and learned makeup application tips for day wear and that special
event using economical and easy to find cosmetics. Everyone went home
with cards featuring makeup tips and ideas.
On September 22th, Philoptochos Athena participated in St. Vasilios’ annual
Ministry Sunday. Pastries were served and the Philoptochos Mission
was presented. New and old members were welcomed!
MESSAGE FROM TONY VATOUSIOS, MUSIC DIRECTOR
From Tony Vatousios, Music Director, St. Vasilios Church.
There is a great opportunity for children to participate in a very important concert. We were invited to sing
for a fundraising concert that will take place in Peabody on November 10. This fundraiser will help the organization
"Kivotos tou Kosmou" (Ark of the World). The «Ark of the World» is a Charitable Nonprofit Organisation
providing special care and protection to mothers and children. The Ark of the World was established
in 1998 in Athens by 26-year-old Father Antonios Papanikolaou. The children, 400 so far, most of
them Greek, but also from other countries, experience affection and peace at the Ark of the World, away from
past poverty, hunger, racism and other blights tormenting our society every day.
The concert will be directed by world known laouto player Vasilis Kostas and additional musicians. Our part
will include 1 or 2 songs accompanied by the ensemble.
Any of our children (choir or not) are encouraged to participate. The commitment will be minor (2-3 rehearsals)
and the concert date. Students of middle school and high school age are encouraged to participate but
younger children are also invited.
Please contact me at vatousiosfamily@gmail.com or 508-8432190 if you would like to participate in this
wonderful experience.
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN ALTAR BOY?
If you are interested in becoming an altar boy, please contact me by email at fryanni@stvasilios.org or
by phone at (978) 531-0777.
It is important to have Altar Boys present for church services, as they help ensure that the services run smoothly
and reverently, for this reason I am reaching out and inviting you to serve during any of our Divine
Liturgy services throughout the year.
Please also spread the word to some of your friends, or any family
members interested in serving.
With much love and respect,
Fr. Yanni

BEHAVIORAL HEALTHBEAT Andrea O’Donnell, LMHC
Sleep and Mental Health
Sleep and mental health are closely connected. Sleep deprivation affects your psychological state and mental
health. And those with mental health problems are more likely to have insomnia or other sleep disorders.
The most common sleep disorders are insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep), obstructive sleep apnea
(disordered breathing that causes multiple awakenings), various movement syndromes (unpleasant sensations
that prompt night fidgeting), and narcolepsy (extreme sleepiness or falling asleep suddenly during the
day).
Sleep and mental health lifestyle changes
In some respects, the treatment recommended for the most common sleep problem, insomnia, is the same for
all patients, regardless of whether they also suffer from psychiatric disorders. The fundamentals are a combination
of lifestyle changes, behavioral strategies, psychotherapy, and medication if necessary.
Lifestyle changes. Most people know that caffeine contributes to sleeplessness, but so can alcohol and nicotine.
Alcohol initially depresses the nervous system, which helps some people fall asleep, but the effects
wear off in a few hours and people wake up. Nicotine is a stimulant, which speeds heart rate and thinking.
Giving up these substances is best, but avoiding them before bedtime is another option.
Physical activity. Regular aerobic activity helps people fall asleep faster, spend more time in deep sleep, and
awaken less often during the night.
Sleep hygiene. Many experts believe that people learn insomnia, and can learn how to sleep better. Good
"sleep hygiene" is the term often used to include tips like maintaining a regular sleep-and-wake schedule,
using the bedroom only for sleeping or sex, and keeping the bedroom dark and free of distractions like the
computer or television. Some experts also recommend sleep retraining: staying awake longer in order to ensure
sleep is more restful.
Relaxation techniques. Meditation, guided imagery, deep breathing exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation
(alternately tensing and releasing muscles) can counter anxiety and racing thoughts.
Cognitive behavioral therapy. Because people with insomnia tend to become preoccupied with not falling
asleep, cognitive behavioral techniques help them to change negative expectations and try to build more confidence
that they can have a good night's sleep. These techniques can also help to change the "blame game"
of attributing every personal problem during the day on lack of sleep.
HEALTHBEAT
Staying Positive With Age
The Mayo Clinic
You know all too well the changes age has brought to your body. For women, aging and
menopause go hand in hand. The aging process differs from person to person. Genetics, lifestyle
and disease affect the rate at which you age. You don’t gain wisdom without some wrinkles. Growing
older doesn’t mean becoming static nor does it automatically signal decline. Changes that come with aging can
mean opportunities for new ways of thinking and doing. No one is ever too old to learn, hope or renew. Now is
the time to finally focus on what you want to do rather than what you have to.
Make gratitude a habit and be thankful for every experience life throws at you, materially, emotionally or spiritually.
Gratitude can help you accept the things you can’t change.
Change what you can.
Maintain a healthy weight
Get regular physical activity
Eat a healthy diet
Be tobacco free
Drink alcohol in moderation
Seek regular health care
The big picture: remember you are more than your body.step back and think of all the things that aren’t reflected
by a mirror. It may help to focus on what makes you shine the brightest. Spend time with relationships that
make you feel good. Engage yourself in hobbies or activities that you enjoy. Older adults who participate in
activities report feeling healthier and happier.
Use these strategies to evaluate obligations and opportunities that come your way.
Focus on what matters- remember what’s important to you
Assess the time commitment- is it short or long
Let go of guilt- don’t allow guilt to make you agree to a request you would rather decline
Sleep on it- take your time before agreeing to a request
Don’t be afraid to say no. Do things that matter the most to you. Pamper yourself and take care of your
spirit. Stay curious, try new things. Laughter is the best medicine, and practice optimism. The choice you make
now can help you transform your health, your relationships and your life for decades to come.

2019 Community Christmas Card
For many years we have used our Community Christmas Card as a way to send greetings to our relatives and
friends. As the expense of mailing individual cards has increased over the years, and as busy lives leave little
time for addressing stacks of envelopes, our community Christmas card has become more popular. The proceeds
of the card are used exclusively to strengthen the parish’s ministry of benevolence and help for the poor.
In these difficult economic times, the exhausted resources of the Altar Fund need your generous response. We
invite all who wish to make a free-will offering in whatever amount they consider appropriate. Please join us
in sharing the blessings of the Christmas season. Fill in the following form and mail or bring it to the church
office by the deadline of DECEMBER 2, 2019.
