Women’s Center<br />

The Women’s Center advances gender equity from an intersectional feminist<br />

perspective through co-curricular programming, support services, and advocacy for<br />

marginalized individuals and communities. Faculty and staff are encouraged to<br />

engage in the Women's Center community by attending our programs and events,<br />

spending time in our lounge area, or applying to become a member of the Women's<br />

Center Advisory Board (applications are available early spring). The Women's Center<br />

also seeks faculty and staff who are interested in helping facilitate<br />

workshops and discussions, serve on roundtable panels, or write as a guest blogger for<br />

the Women’s Center blog. The Women's Center is also home to the campus lactation<br />

room. Check out the different programs and services offered by the Women's Center<br />

by visiting womenscenter.umbc.edu or my.umbc.edu/groups/womenscenter. The<br />

Women's Center is located on the ground floor of The Commons. For more information<br />

Career Center (CC)<br />

The Career Center aims to empower all students and graduates to create their own<br />

success stories. Located on the 2nd floor of Math/Psychology, call 5-2216 for more<br />

information or to connect with a staff member. https://careers.umbc.edu<br />

Invite us to Your Classes: Click on “Tool Kit/Workshops and Webinars” for a list of the<br />

offered workshops and to request one. Also, as you are advising student groups and<br />

organizations, spread the word about our workshop request program.<br />

Intern, co-op, or research positions: Provide referrals to positions or post your own oncampus<br />

opportunities including research and internships via <strong>UMBC</strong>works.<br />

Advise students to utilize the Career Center for answers to any types of career-related<br />

questions or concerns as well as information on applied learning opportunities, jobs,<br />

and graduate school help.<br />

Tell Your Students about CC: Include information about the CC in your syllabi and<br />

share important upcoming events and resources with your students.<br />

Moderate, Facilitate, Present or be a Panelist at CC Programs and Events: Various<br />

career programs are offered throughout the year, especially during the annual Career<br />

Month. Click on the calendar link on our website for upcoming events.<br />

Meet and Network with Employers in Your Industry: Stop by to meet and network<br />

with employers recruiting students at <strong>UMBC</strong>'s Career and Internship Fairs and<br />

networking events hosted by the CC throughout the year: http://careers.umbc.edu/.
