Plans revealed for 180 seat cinema, hotel <strong>and</strong> fast food<br />

outlets in Bideford<br />

Plans for a four-screen cinema, hotel <strong>and</strong> new fast food outlets have gone on display to<br />

the public. The proposals for the Affinity Devon Shopping Centre in Bideford include a<br />

Travelodge hotel, 180-seat Scott Cinema, KFC <strong>and</strong> Subway restaurants <strong>and</strong> a takeaway<br />

coffee shop.<br />

A concert of Words <strong>and</strong> Music to celebrate the 150th<br />

Anniversary of the first publication of R. D. Blackmore's<br />

famous novel "Lorna Doone: A Romance of <strong>Exmoor</strong>"<br />

This is only one of the many concerts being offered in<br />

this year’s festival. Look at the festival website for more<br />

information.<br />

I have this week learned that Penny Adie is retiring as Artistic Director of the Festival.<br />

She <strong>and</strong> her late husb<strong>and</strong> started it following the foot <strong>and</strong> mouth epidemic which was a<br />

disaster for both the farming community <strong>and</strong> the tourist industry. This year marks the<br />

18th festival held across <strong>Exmoor</strong> <strong>and</strong> Dartmoor.<br />
