KENTUCKY HUMANITIES

WELCOME
Bill Goodman
Executive Director
Kentucky Humanities
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Kentucky Book Festival! Kentucky
Humanities is honored to bring the Kentucky Book Festival to the citizens of
the Commonwealth.
We have a wide variety of events planned throughout the week—something
for readers of all ages. You can find the week’s schedule in this catalog on page 6 or on
our website, kyhumanities.org.
& Conversation; Books & Brews Trivia; Commerce Lexington Spotlight; and, of course,
the Kentucky Book Festival’s anchor event, the 38th annual Kentucky Book Fair. This
year’s fair features 200 national and regional authors signing books and meeting patrons.
Two stages will host panel discussions and author presentations throughout the day.
You can find the Kentucky Book Fair schedule on pages 12 and 13 and the list of
authors attending the fair on pages 18-51.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our many sponsors, partners,
and supporters who helped make the Kentucky Book Festival possible: the Kosair
We look forward to seeing you throughout the Festival, November 10 through 16!
Sara Volpi
Kentucky Book Festival Director
Kentucky Humanities
As Bill covered the Festival at-large, I’ll shed some more light on Saturday’s
Book Fair. Wondering what a book fair is? You’re not alone. You may have
attended a literary event, like a poetry slam or bookstore reading, and were
able to meet the author, getting a book signed in the process you can add to
your shelves at home. This is that experience, but with 200 authors all in the same room.
It’s a special chance to interact with the people behind the books you read and books
you’ve yet to discover.
Apart from bringing in noted journalists Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes and CNN’s
Jim Acosta, National Book Award Finalists Adrian Matejka, Elliot Ackerman, and
Jarrett J. Krosoczka will attend too, as will debut authors Casey Cep, Tanya Amyx
Berry, and Katy Yocom. Bring your kids to meet Rosemary Wells, beloved author
behind the Max & Ruby series and dozens of other children’s books, or George Ella
Lyon, whose newest book teaches kids all about trains. And that’s just the tip of the
iceberg! If you’re reading this, and you’re a lover of great stories, want to meet authors,
and enjoy learning about the ways books impact all of us—you’re in the right place.
the answer as you sip cocktails and enjoy hors d’oeuvres. Listen in on a conversation with KET’s
Renee Shaw and Jessica, and decide if YOU would fake it to make it if given the chance. Tickets
