Lawand Trade Bangalore conducted
it 2 nd successful year of blood
donation. A total of 11 units of blood
were donated !

Discover the Taste of Australia @ Village Grocer
18th July to 11th August
Village Grocer Malaysia held “Discover the Taste of Australia” festival
for a period of 4 weeks across 19 stores with a range of 1200 Australian
products were displayed. Janice from our Asia Business Development
team played a major role in organizing this event.

Fine Food Australia is a trade fair in Sydney for the
food industry featuring the new trends in the
markets and the food industry.
Nassif, Mahesha, Binesh and Clevan from Lawand
Trade attended Fine Food this year along with our
partner clients Hussein Saad from Sultan Center
Kuwait and Abdul Saleem from Lulu Qatar. A
total of 15 new brands were selected from the
visit which were differentiated and un-available
in our markets.

This year we invited Hussein Saad from Sultan
Center Kuwait and Abdul Saleem from Lulu
Qatar on our Buying Mission to Australia. They
were accompanied by our Business
Development team members Mahesha and
Binesh.
The rigorous 2 days of Buying Mission again
proved to be highly successful where the clients
selected about 80 brands comprising of both
new and existing brand which the clients were
not buying earlier.
Stores visited were Coles Broadway, Coles
Pyrmont, Super Mart Surry Hills, Woolworths
Marrickville and The Naked Store in North Bridge

Lawand Trade Bangalore office celebrated
India’s 73 rd Independence Day with some
performances and activities from our team
members. The team organized a potluck where
we tasted around 20 different cuisines from
across India. The dress code was ethnic wear.

Due to incessant rains various parts of
India were flooded, affecting over
ten states in late July and early
August. At least 200 people died
and about a million people were
displaced.

2019
MONSOON IN INDIA
Andhra Pradesh
Over 74,000 people in East Godavari and West Godavari
district were affected due to flooding from Godavari
river. Over 17,000 people were evacuated.
Goa
Pernem, Bicholim and Bardez talukas were worst affected
in Goa. Several villages in North Goa were inundated due
to heavy rains and water released from Tilari dam. 150
families were evacuated
Gujarat
Central and South Gujarat were worst affected due to
heavy rains. 26 of 30 sluice gates of Sardar Sarovar dam
on the Narmada river were opened to release water.
Vadodara city was flooded.
Karnataka
North, coastal and Malnad districts were worst affected.
Other affected districts include Bagalkot, Vijayapura,
Raichur, Yadgiri, Uttara Kannada, South Kannada,
Shivamogga, Kodagu and Chikkamagalur. At least 24
died. More than 2,00,000 people were evacuated and
more than 2200 rescue personnel were deployed.

KERALA
2019
MONSOON IN INDIA
Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Idukki,
Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur and Kasargod districts were
worst affected. Over 1 lakh people were evacuated to a
total of 1111 relief camps. Kochi airport was closed due to
water logging. Over 100 people died.
MADHYA PRADESH
Heavy rains flooded the Narmada river. Sluice gates of
seven out of 28 dams in the state were opened to release
the waters. Around 1000 people were evacuated. Dhar
and Barwani districts were most affected.
MAHARASHTRA
The floods in five districts of Western Maharashtra were
affected. About 2,00,000 people were evacuated and
about 29 people died in the rain-related incidents. The
flood gates of Almatti dam were opened and the NH 4
(Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway) were closed.

ODISHA
Odisha was flooded by heavy rains in first week of August.
Three people died in the floods. About 1,30,000 people in
9 districts were affected. Kalahandi and Rayagada
districts were the worst affected. More than 14,000
people were evacuated to shelters from low-lying
regions. More than 2000 houses were damaged.
PUNJAB
Following heavy rains and release of water from the
Bhakra Dam, the swollen river Sutlej and its tributaries
flooded villages in several areas, causing extensive
damage to crops, especially paddy, and houses in lowlying
areas. Over 300 villages were affected.
TAMIL NADU
Nilgris district was the worst-affected. More than 1700
people were evacuated and around 500 personnels of
NDRF and SDRF were deployed. At least five people died
