STROUD ATHLETICS
“BUILDING CHARACTER AND CHAMPIONS
THROUGH COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS”
It’s that time of the year again when the colors and pageantry of the fall come to life all
across the country. The Friday night lights and cameras come on and test the mettle of focused
participants. Offseason work is called into question as players get down in the mud, dirt and
grime. New and age-old strategies will be honed and implemented but when all is said and
done it will be all about the fundamentals. It is time for our beloved Stroud Tigers to walk onto
their prospective playing fields and battle district, conference and non-district foes. Our
devoted fans, students, faculty and alumni will gather to witness the progress of our mighty
Stroud Tigers.
I simply love the new car smell but not as much as I love the smell of Stroud Athletics
beginning in the fall. The medicine to appease this smell is to go out and watch one of the
many teams (high school or middle school) battling our opponent on the playing field. Our
athletic programs have been challenged and bars have been set by previous athletic teams.
Our current Tigers are eager and willing to meet and exceed the legacy left by former Stroud
Tigers. Resting on ones laurels is not a trait exhibited by our tigers. Rising to challenges and
playing competitive schedules are trademarks of Stroud Athletics. Competition breeds winners
and adversity builds character.
We will see all shades of color and changing momentums in various sports at various levels
this fall. Just remember, there may be the beautiful red, orange and yellow colors of leaves
falling but the most beautiful color of all will be the majestic Blue and White of the empowered
Stroud Tigers.
Bob Wood, Athletic Director
Practice Like a Champion
Act Like a Champion
Play Like a Champion
Be a STROUD TIGER CHAMPION

I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you and your family to Stroud High School
and the proud home of the Tigers. We appreciate the passionate support of the fans of both teams and
hope you enjoy your time on our campus and in the Stroud community.
Our vision at Stroud High School focuses on academic excellence as well as excellence in our
extracurricular activities. To achieve this excellence, we feel it will take all stakeholders working together
to truly make a difference in the lives of our students, in the classroom and in our activities. We challenge
our students, parents, staff, faculty and our entire Stroud community to join us in achieving our vision of
excellence. We have high expectations for our students at Stroud High School.
At Stroud, we believe that extracurricular activities provide students with the opportunity for personal
growth. Teamwork, the mental and physical challenges of training and competition are important life
lessons that will serve our students well into their future. We also understand that participation in
extracurricular activities demands a commitment that involves both dedication and service.
For the upcoming 2019-2020 season we anticipate each program at Stroud will bring new elements of
excitement and enthusiasm – from dynamic and energetic staff to our students who represent our school
and community. Our students know and believe they are part of something very special here at Stroud.
We hope you enjoy your evening at our facility and the hospitality of our faculty, staff, fans, and
community. We hope tonight will be a positive experience and look forward to you visiting Stroud High
School again in the future.
Sr. Spotlight - #63 Chayton Ellick
Easily the biggest player on the team, Chayton Ellick stands out in crowd, and #63 isn’t hard to find. “Chayton has been playing with us for a long
time. And even all the way back to middle school and up through his Sr. year, opposing coaches always notice Chay and want to talk about him,” said
Stroud coach, Chris Elerick.
And it’s no surprise. Ellick has been a force for the Tigers since moving to Stroud in the 7 th grade. Playing football, basketball and baseball – he has
been an active athlete for a long time.
And while he loves being on the field playing, it’s not just about playing ball for Chayton. “He really enjoys being around his teammates,” continued
Coach Elerick. “Either in the locker room after practice, or running around town, or out at our house with a bunch of the guys cutting up and laughing
– he’s a friendly guy.”
Offensive Line coach Josh Presley had this to say about his Sr. left tackle, “Chayton really made a big jump this year, as a senior. He made the move to
left tackle, where we felt like we needed him most, and has done a very good job.” “He worked hard all winter, spring and summer, going to camps
and getting better – and that is paying off now.”
For Ellick, sports is a family affair…his older brother, Billie (a Tiger alumni), is playing at Panhandle State University, where Chayton also has an offer to
go play.
“Chayton has very strong family support,” said Coach Elerick. “You see that often, from his parents but also from his extended family. And they support
not just Chay, but all his teammates as well.”
From the locker room to the playing field, look for big things from #63 this season!
Here are some things Chayton’s teammates had to say about him:
Chay is a good guy. He always makes sure I have a ride.
Been balling with this guy since 7 th grade! Great teammate!
Works hard and makes sacrifices for our team.
He might be the funniest guy I’ve ever met. He’s one of my best friends and he’s a really
talented tackle.
Hard worker, that’s our BIG MAN.
He brings good energy!
Q & A with Chayton Ellick:
Do you have any superstitions?
Before every game, I play Thuderstruck by AC/DC. I’ve done it since the 5 th
grade.
Who is your favorite sports star?
Von Miller and Landon Collins.
What is the one Super-Power you would like to have?
The ability to breath underwater.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go, and who would go with you?
I would go to Italy with my closest friends.
What is your favorite thing about Stroud Football?
The way we do things. The tradition of the football program.
Who is your role-model, or someone who has had a big impact on your life?
Stroud High School coaching staff. They have made me a better person on and off the field.
If you could have dinner with any 2 people, who would they be?
Favorite Quote:
Ray Lewis and Deion Sanders.
“I’m never satisfied. I’m always trying to get better and learn from my mistakes.” Russell Westbrook

Sr. Spotlight: # 51 Lucas Cullum
Senior Lucas Cullum has been playing football for the past 3 years as a Stroud Tiger and is currently
enjoying his Sr. season.
“Lucas is a good guy to be around. He has a smile on his face and brings a positive attitude to the
practice field each day,” said Tiger coach Chris Elerick.
As an offensive linemen, Cullum provides depth for the Tigers up front. And as Defensive end, expect
to see him on the field each week. Tim Hinds is Lucas’ Defensive End position coach, and he
had this to say: “Lucas is new to the position, moving there this year. He had always played linebacker.
Defensive End is a tough position to play, but he has adjusted well and is still continuing to
improve. I expect him to continue to get better – he has a good attitude about it.”
Off the field, he is a good upper-classmen in the locker room. Coach Elerick said, “I have noticed
Lucas doing a good job helping the younger guys. Showing them the ropes, how things are done,
etc.” He continued, “Lucas has a good work ethic, he has held a job since I’ve been around him. I
always respect young people who go to school, play a sport, and work at the same time.”
Here are some things that Lucas’ teammates had to say about
him:
He is a funny guy, and always in a good mood.
Hard worker!
Always has a good attitude.
Brings good energy to practice and to games!
Q & A with Lucas Cullum:
Do you have any superstitions?
Yes, I’m kind of superstitious.
Who is your favorite sports star?
Either Baker Mayfield or Ezekiel Elliot.
What is the one Super-Power you would like to have?
To be able to teleport or invincibility.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go,
and who would go with you?
I would go to Wyoming and go skiing with my girlfriend Cheyanne Randall.
What is your favorite thing about Stroud Football?
The team spirit, and the brotherhood of the team.
Who is your role-model, or someone who has had a big impact on your life?
My mother has really been a big part of my life. She’s the strongest person I know.
If you could have dinner with any 2 people, who would they be?
Zeke Elliot and Baker Mayfield
