MY FEAST LIGHT STORY Humility is key. This is the most important and humbling lesson I took home from the Feast Light Congress —an annual prayer gathering of planters or people from across the country who lead their respective Feast Light (FL). Held at homes, schools or offices, an FL is a small weekly meeting with a short video of Bro. Bo Sanchez’s talks, sharing of life stories, joys and concerns and with prayers as bookends. Too Busy to Serve? THE MARK OF A TRUE LEADER Anna Galura, digital marketing and communications supervisor at Kimstore, shares her learnings at the recently-concluded Feast Light Congress held at Canyon Cove, Nasugbu, Batangas on September 6-8, 2019. On September 6, Friday, Kim Lato, our company owner, and I traveled to Batangas to attend this event for planters. As it is our second year to attend it, we decided we would be servants. While work in the office has been taxing lately because of certain changes and developments, we asked ourselves, “Are we too busy to serve?” And we said, “Why not serve despite those challenges?” So we confirmed our slots as servants this time. But it was not to be so. Little did we know, God had other plans for us —better than ours. We were back to being attendees again this year. And we learned later why. Wednesday Lunch Habit Inspired to bring Jesus to our workplace, Kim and I started FL in our office in Tondo in June 2018. We wanted to impart valuable Bible-based teachings to our colleagues. Things went well at the start of our FL Wednesday Lunch Habit —called such because we scheduled it during meals so we would get nourishment for the mind, body and spirit all at the same time. Recently, however, we moved the office to Quezon City and it has become a struggle to get back into our prayer habit. What with the transition, and our schedules that don’t meet! We realized that the circumstances are against us and won’t permit us to hold our FL. This drought brought us confusion and doubts. Do we continue or not? At the Congress, a new light shone and a new path was shown to us. Dare to be Humble Moving out of our old workplace, it’s comforting to know that God is on our side. That Congress weekend was our first weekend in our new office but Kim and I chose to go to the annual gathering. A message that resounded to us as leaders of our company is this: Dare to take the lowest place of honor. A challenge for us to give the best leadership — a selfless and dying kind of service. At Kimstore, we are hiring and grooming new leaders to be part of the team. And during the Congress, we received another message that as we welcome new people in, God wants us to stay humble, to have ears that listen and hearts that understand. He wants us to focus on His Word because He knows what we need to hear to improve our management style. He wants us to be reminded that in whatever we do, we should work at it with all our hearts (Col 3:23). We were not ready to serve this year at the Congress yet, but who knows, maybe we will next year when we’ve learned what we need to learn. For the Lord’s Purpose. To fulfill His purpose, be determined to navigate through your spiritual journey despite the tough and confusing times. Follow God’s Ways • Use the Map of God’s Word —the Bible. The Bible is our spiritual map. Like signposts, His Word keeps us from getting lost. Read the Bible every day and let its message seep through your heart for guidance and direction. • Community of Users —the Church. The more connected we are with others, the more we can be guided on our discernment process. Sole interpretation of the Bible can be dangerous. Part of our community are the saints, whose examples we can all look at for inspiration. 2. Know our destination. We are destined to be with God in Heaven. To get to Heaven, we must become saints. How? By making ourselves available for the exclusive use and purpose of God. It means loving Him above all. Designed to Love. The reason a lot of people are not happy is that they are doing things they are not made for. Fulfill the ultimate design of your life — love God and others. Be the saint you’re meant to be.
