STROUD ATHLETICS
“BUILDING CHARACTER AND CHAMPIONS
THROUGH COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS”
It’s that time of the year again when the colors and pageantry of the fall come to life all
across the country. The Friday night lights and cameras come on and test the mettle of focused
participants. Offseason work is called into question as players get down in the mud, dirt and
grime. New and age-old strategies will be honed and implemented but when all is said and
done it will be all about the fundamentals. It is time for our beloved Stroud Tigers to walk onto
their prospective playing fields and battle district, conference and non-district foes. Our
devoted fans, students, faculty and alumni will gather to witness the progress of our mighty
Stroud Tigers.
I simply love the new car smell but not as much as I love the smell of Stroud Athletics
beginning in the fall. The medicine to appease this smell is to go out and watch one of the
many teams (high school or middle school) battling our opponent on the playing field. Our
athletic programs have been challenged and bars have been set by previous athletic teams.
Our current Tigers are eager and willing to meet and exceed the legacy left by former Stroud
Tigers. Resting on ones laurels is not a trait exhibited by our tigers. Rising to challenges and
playing competitive schedules are trademarks of Stroud Athletics. Competition breeds winners
and adversity builds character.
We will see all shades of color and changing momentums in various sports at various levels
this fall. Just remember, there may be the beautiful red, orange and yellow colors of leaves
falling but the most beautiful color of all will be the majestic Blue and White of the empowered
Stroud Tigers.
Bob Wood, Athletic Director
Practice Like a Champion
Act Like a Champion
Play Like a Champion
Be a STROUD TIGER CHAMPION

I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you and your family to Stroud High School
and the proud home of the Tigers. We appreciate the passionate support of the fans of both teams and
hope you enjoy your time on our campus and in the Stroud community.
Our vision at Stroud High School focuses on academic excellence as well as excellence in our
extracurricular activities. To achieve this excellence, we feel it will take all stakeholders working together
to truly make a difference in the lives of our students, in the classroom and in our activities. We challenge
our students, parents, staff, faculty and our entire Stroud community to join us in achieving our vision of
excellence. We have high expectations for our students at Stroud High School.
At Stroud, we believe that extracurricular activities provide students with the opportunity for personal
growth. Teamwork, the mental and physical challenges of training and competition are important life
lessons that will serve our students well into their future. We also understand that participation in
extracurricular activities demands a commitment that involves both dedication and service.
For the upcoming 2019-2020 season we anticipate each program at Stroud will bring new elements of
excitement and enthusiasm – from dynamic and energetic staff to our students who represent our school
and community. Our students know and believe they are part of something very special here at Stroud.
We hope you enjoy your evening at our facility and the hospitality of our faculty, staff, fans, and
community. We hope tonight will be a positive experience and look forward to you visiting Stroud High
School again in the future.
Sr. Spotlight - #10 Gage Parrick
While Gage Parrick may be new to the scene in Stroud, he wasted no time making a big impact on the field for the Tigers.
Coach Elerick said, “He just fit right in (after moving ½ through his Sophomore year), with our guys. It was a natural
fit. And then when we got on the field for his first football, things just clicked. He really did a great job as a Junior,
and is now having a great Sr. season, which is what we expect from him.” As a Junior, Parrick was a standout on both
sides of the ball. His Sr. season started with a bump in the road as he was slowed by an early season injury. “He has really
come on the last few games. He is a great young man, and a talented player, and I’m excited to see what the future
has in store for him. The sky is the limit, no doubt,” continued Coach Elerick.
On the field, Gage is as explosive as they come, with 10 TD’s in the past 2 games. Off the field, he likes going to eat with
his friends, hanging out at the house and joking around. “Those guys are pretty social. They spend a lot of time with
each other, on and off the field. And that is pretty special. They are a close knit group,” Coach said.
Gage’s running back coach Tim Hinds said he is very pleased with the way Gage has evolved as a running back. “It’s not
easy to make the transition from receiver to running back, but Gage has done it well. He is getting better each game,
really with each carry. He works hard at it, and is determined to be good,” Coach Hinds stated.
Secondary coach Rance Plunkett also had high praise for Parrick, “Last year, he had a great season at Safety. This year he
started off with an injury, and didn’t play much defense early. Then we moved him for a few weeks, and now he is back
at Safety and it has made us better for sure. He is confident back there, good in coverage and a good tackler. He is fun
to coach when he’s in his groove.”
Here are some things Gage’s teammates had to say about him:
Really fast and plays hard!
Great guy that brings a lot of energy and is electrifying on the field.
That boy can play some ball!
One of my best friends and fav teammates. Plays fast and tough.
Glad he’s on our team! One of the best athletes I’ve played with.
Hard working athlete.
Sr. Spotlight - #57 John Roggenkamp
Ever since he stepped on the field for the Tigers as a middle school player, as a young freshmen – and now as a Sr on the
2019 team, John Roggenkamp has made an impact. And that impact revolves around his toughness and physicality on the
field. “He’s just a super tough player. He plays the game with high levels of emotion and aggressiveness, which makes him
a very good player and tough competitor,” said coach Josh Presley.
Defensive End coach Tim Hinds has always been impressed
with John’s toughness and had this to say, “At Defensive End, you have to be tough to do what we do, but you also
have to be a technician. You have to do your job right, or the defense just won’t work.”
It’s obvious watching John play that he loves the game. What you don’t always see is how #57 is off the field. “He’s an
interesting young man, really an impressive young man” said coach Chris Elerick. “I have been around John since he was
little, and he spends a lot of time at our house. He is a good person, he has high standards for himself and for those
around him. He likes to cut-up and laugh and hang out with the guys, but he also has a serious side to him.” “I’m proud of
how he has grown up, how he has matured. How he has handled life really. He’s a good one.”
You can have a short conversation with this Tiger senior and it won’t take long to see that he has a bright future in front of
him. He is enjoying this Sr. season to be sure – he talks about his teammates a lot, as well as his love for football and more
specifically Stroud Tiger football, but he also talks about his future plans.
Not a lot of fans pay attention to what goes on in the trenches, but take a few plays and watch #57.
Here are some things John’s teammates had to say about him:
Bad to the bone!
This man is like a brother to me. We’ve been friends since we were 5
years old.
Love playing football with John – he’s a passionate guy and plays hard!
One of the toughest dudes I’ve met.
He would take a bullet for you. Definitely someone you want fighting
alongside you on game night.
Super tough guy and a great friend.
Great guy, works hard and plays hard.
