Ravel liked to build bridges between genres,
instruments and disciplines: from literature to
music, and from jazz to classical via flamenco
and pop songs. This ability to subtly and perfectly
blend one style with another, and more
particularly jazz with classical is what attracted
Hélène Tysman and led her to organize a collaboration
with Les Percussions de Lyon to perform this
repertoire.
Jean-Baptiste Clamance, a well-known Paris lawyer,
comes across a woman leaning over the edge of the
bridge above the river. When he has almost crossed the
bridge, he hears behind him the sound of a body hitting
the water and screams. We find him some years later
in a bar in Amsterdam speaking to a silent listener. His
guilt became an obsession leading gradually to his own
professional, social and inner downfall.
Very few pianists talk to the public about the plays they
play. Olivier has long excelled in communicating and
sharing emotions. So, he brilliantly comments on the
pieces he «Revives». No scholarly speeches or lessons
learned, just a few simple words from the heart, with
poetry and emotion, for tell the story of the artist and
his works. His «Commented recitals» meet with success
unanimous and global! The artist is also taught
and use different media to reach the audience.
SECRET WORDS
What are the words we whisper in our bedroom when
no one can hear us?
There are the words of childhood, words of love and
friendship, words that make us dream of travelling,
words of joy – but also words that hurt us and bring us
to tears, that demand justice and freedom for everyone,
and then of course the words of poems that we read to
keep hearts beating in time with the rhythm of the world.
