MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL
PROF DR. ARBAB ABDUL WADOOD
Professional life in higher education necessitates a tremendous learning curve as professionals
and faculty within a college are introduced to the new demands and trends associated with
their tasks on their respective college positions. Each institution is its own living, breathing unit,
and seasoned professionals and faculty require from time-to-time mentoring and career path
strategies to foster themselves to grapple the oncoming challenges in higher education.
Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences has raised the vigil for past couple of years to keep a sense
of the pulse to nurture its human assets by mentoring and developing them in best ways possible.
QIMS is a comprehensive institution with teaching central to the mission, along with expectations
for its professional and faculty. Professionals were not promoted or tenured for strategic reasons
in any higher academic institutions. Therefore, QIMS has long been realizing the fact that human
assets’ mentoring, career path activities, and professional development with the help of
teaching and scholarship is the key to future performance stability. The overall purpose is, to
develop and share ways to address the challenges of balancing effective human resource
development with active engagement in organizational development for its professionals and
faculty.
We, at QIMS, believe that formal human asset mentoring and development programs for
professionals and faculty can help our college preempt the issues we may face while
progressing forward. Mentoring is widely recognized for fostering success and reducing isolation
among professionals. Moreover, departments benefit from improved recruitment and retention,
increased investment in human resources and departmental activities, and enhanced work
culture.
Our students are very innovative and ever eager to learn new concepts. Apart from teaching,
our faculty members are deeply engaged in research work and scientific collaboration in
national and international projects. Our students have demonstrated their capabilities and
While briefing, Director Admin & Security Lt Col ® Aziz–ur-Rehman Kakar said that college
brochures only give you a fraction of needed information. The college information sessions
and the campus tours will give you a much better idea of what the college is like. Moreover,
a college visit is your opportunity to get a firsthand view of a college.
While interacting with cadets, Principal QIMS Prof Dr. Arbab Abdul Wadood said that Quetta
Institute of Medical Sciences is using every opportunity to improve the quality of the students'
learning experience as QIMS aims to create an atmosphere where a student will matter and
achieve excellence to the best of his/her potential. It is good to know that QIMS has got
facilities that are second to none and which give a huge range of opportunities to every
student to succeed. I am delighted to know that QIMS provides a wide ranging curriculum
and aims to create the best conditions possible for students to achieve their academic,
social and personal potential. An outstanding reputation in co-curricular activities
including sports means that students get many opportunities to develop their expressive side
and they have plenty of chances to develop their interests outside classrooms.
Later, cadets visited various departments and were briefed about working of various
departments. They were also served with tea break and were presented with college
souvenirs & gifts by Commandant QIMS Brig Syed Nadeem ul Haq.
