Dry storage containers are some of the
most common containers used in the
shipping industry. They come in
lengths of 10, 20, and 40 feet, and they
are designed to transport dry goods.
These containers do not allow for
temperature controls, so they are not
suited for moving food or chemicals
that require refrigeration.
Flat rack containers are most often
used as either 20ft or 40ft containers,
they are ideal for large and heavy
cargoes which cannot be loaded into
containers with fixed sides or walls. ...
Many 20ft flat rack containers are
provided with forklift pockets and 40ft
flat racks have gooseneck tunnels at
both ends.
SIZES: While weights can vary, it is safe to assume that a 40' flat rack weighs about 12,000 – 13,000
pounds and a 20' flat rack weighs 6,000 – 6,600 pounds. shipping containers are 8ft (2.43m) wide,
8.5ft (2.59m) high and come in two lengths; 20ft (6.06m) and 40ft (12.2m). Extra tall shipping
containers called high-cube containers are available at 9.5ft (2.89m) high.

Open top containers do not have solid roofs instead they have removable bows and a
weatherproof tarpaulin roof which can be secured with ropes and allows for a significantly
simplified loading and unloading process, the door header may also be swung out allowing for
easier access to the cargo. Open top containers are ideal for bulky cargo such as machinery. The
removable bows on open top containers are not there solely to hold the tarpaulin cover but also to
add stability to the ocean container, therefore flat rack containers can be more suited to over height
cargoes. Lashing rings in the container are used to secure and prevent shifting of the cargo during
transit; these lashing rings can hold loads of up to 1,000kg.
A tunnel-container is manufactured
from a standard shipping container but
has double doors at both ends (double
ender). From a standard 20 ft or 40 ft
shipping container, the solid end of the
container is cut off leaving it open, then
a new set of double doors is welded in
place creating a two-way access.
A refrigerated container or reefer is an
intermodal container (shipping
transport that is refrigerated for the
transportation of temperaturesensitive
cargo. ... The reefers are using
some heat exchangers that behaves as
water cooled condensers: water
cooling.

An open side container has the same features as a standard shipping container or storage
container. The container is comprised of 14-gauge corrugated steel panels throughout, lockable
double doors on one end, as well as 1-1/8” thick marine plywood flooring on the interior. The major
difference is the two additional bi-fold doors on one of the side walls. The inner portion of the bifold
doors can be opened similarly to the standard doors on the end of the container. You can also
open the bi-fold portion as well, giving you access to the entire side of the container. An open side
storage container is also referred to as a full-side access container, side access container or a side
opening storage container.
double door (DD) containers are standard
ISO shipping containers, but with double
doors in both ends. These containers are
very durable, and the double doors make
storage and loading more flexible. For
example, they are a fast solution for
construction sites where a safe passing
across the site must be arranged. Both
double doors can be locked, which means
that traffic through the container can be
blocked quickly by closing the container’s
doors.
SIZES: Double door containers are available in both 20ft and 40ft sizes. Depending on availability, they
also come in both standard height (8'6″H) and high cube (9'6″H) versions. Double door containers are an
excellent option, as they allow you to access your items from both sides of the container.
If you are looking for a warm and dry storage space that will survive even the most extreme winter
conditions, you should look at getting a heat-insulated container. Insulated containers are portable
like a standard shipping container and they can be equipped in many ways. All our insulated
container units have been insulated with the latest in container insulation. Your container will either
be fully insulated with XPS or polyurethane. It also has 2 ventilation shafts. The container’s internal
finish depends on the container model and can come in plywood, stainless steel or sheet metal.
ISO Tank Containers are constructed in accordance with strict international codes for the worldwide
carriage of bulk liquids on land or sea. Their international standard size is 20ft long, 8ft wide, and
8ft 6in high - the cylindrical pressure vessel is set within this ISO frame.
TYPES
IMO Type 1 - Hazardous Tanks: Approved for the transportation of substances of Class 1 and
Classes 3 to 9. These liquids have a flashpoint of less than 0 deg C. Examples are: Explosives,
Flammable liquids, Radioactive material, Corrosive and Toxic substances.
IMO Type 2 - Low Hazardous Tanks: Approved for the transportation of substances of Class 3 that
have a flashpoint of 0 deg to 61 deg C with no secondary hazard requiring a type 1 tank. Examples
are some combustible liquids like diesel fuel, and cooking oil.
IMO Type 5 - Gas Tanks: Approved for the transportation of non refrigerated liquefied gases of
Class 2 - these tanks are generally made of mild steel instead of stainless steel.
stacks of materials. Cargo storage roll containers are foldable. They are made up of wire meshes
that are thick and strong and also rollers that enable free and easy movement.
IWith Half Heights shipping containers being built to DNV 2.7-1 standards they are ideal for shipping
to offshore rigs and being half heights they can be securely stacked on top of each other which
results in space saved on the rigs floor. With storage in a Half Height shipping container they are
designed with an ‘Open Top’ for larger items they can be stored in the half height also it allows the
half height container to be loaded for the top or the front.
Car carrier containers are used to move cars by road and rail. However in exceptional cases, the car
carrier containers are used to ship by sea also. ... Although the term car carrier container is used,
almost all types of automobile vehicles can be transported in such containers by making necessary
changes in manufacture.
SIZES: Standard containers come in two sizes; 20' and 40' in length. While a 20' container is suitable
for shipment of one car or 4x4, a 40' container provides sufficient space for two average size
vehicles so may be more cost effective if you have more than one vehicle to ship.
An intermediate bulk container (or IBC) is a pallet mounted, industrial grade reusable container that
is used for storing and transporting bulk liquids and powders. Also known as a tote, the IBC is
capable of stacking and can be moved by a pallet jack or forklift.
SIZES: IBCs are sold in a variety of shapes and sizes but the two most popular volumes are 275
gallons and 330 gallons. This volume range is situated between drums and tanks, which is where
the term “intermediate” comes from. The most common outer dimensions are 48” x 40” x 46,
making them ideal for shipping on a pallet.
Drums are cylindrical shipping containers made of steel, plastic or fiber. They are often used for
liquids and granular materials.
SIZES: Standard drums have inside dimensions of 572 millimetres (22.5 in) diameter and 851
millimetres (33.5 in) height. These dimensions yield a volume of about 218.681 dm3 or 218.681
litres (57.8 US gal; 48.1 imp gal), but they are commonly filled to about 200 litres.
covering of woven polypropylene with volume from 12 up to 26 thousand liters, for transportation
of any non hazardous liquids using the standard 20-foot sea or railway container.
SIZES: Flexitank is a hermetic sealed, collapsible and flexible bag/bladder which is stuffed in a 20' DV
