JUNE<br />

The Annual Volunteer Appreciation<br />

Breakfast celebrated all those who<br />

have helped out at BHS with various<br />

endeavours that ensure our students have<br />

a well-rounded educational experience.<br />

Students, staff and parents took part in<br />

the annual You Go Girl! Relay on Front<br />

Street in Hamilton.<br />

in front of the whole of Primary to share<br />

the ways they plan to use their voices to<br />

lead themselves. Samai Dunn ’23 gave<br />

an emotional talk on the impact “The<br />

Hate You Give” had on her.<br />

MAY<br />

EYP-P2 students welcomed their<br />

Grandparents and Grand Guests<br />

to school for a chance to see their<br />

classrooms and have lunch together.<br />

Team Dragon took part in Relay for<br />

Life and rocked the pink #likeagirl shirts<br />

helping to raise money for Bermuda<br />

Cancer and Health.<br />

To celebrate the Global Day of Design,<br />

Y7 students spent a busy day creating,<br />

designing and tinkering to come up with<br />

amazing automation projects, while the<br />

Y8 students investigated 3D scanning<br />

and printing.<br />

The Mini Trebles ensemble performed<br />

Coldplay and Y4 and Y5 students sang<br />

on the steps of City Hall for the World<br />

Asthma Day celebrations organised by<br />

Open Airways.<br />

BHS held its annual Book Fair at the<br />

BookMart at Brown and Co. and restocked<br />

the Primary and Secondary<br />

libraries.<br />

The Aloha Summer Gala raised $85,000<br />

which will allow up to 20 students to<br />

benefit from financial aid at BHS. The<br />

success of the gala was due to the hard<br />

work, dedication and enthusiasm of<br />

many volunteers, who worked on the<br />

event, and to those who supported it by<br />

attending on the night.<br />

Primary students took part in the 4th<br />

annual Graduation Walk to celebrate<br />

the Class of <strong>2019</strong> on their big day. The<br />

BHS’s Secondary musicians filled the<br />

air with music at their Summer Concert.<br />

Performances included Nothing But<br />

Treble, the Mini Trebles, Indigo Adamson,<br />

the Y7 and Y8 Extension groups, pianists<br />

Charlotte Weinstein, Lizzie Luckashvilli<br />

and Daina Babeckas, Cincopation, the<br />

orchestra and the choir!<br />

Katarina Rance ’22 and Salayah Stange<br />

’22 joined a world movement for climate<br />

change awareness and organised a march<br />

from City Hall to the Cabinet Building with<br />

students from other schools. The young<br />

activists called for the banning of singleuse<br />

plastics, switching from fossil fuels to<br />

renewable energy and declaring a “climate<br />

emergency”. Teachers from various local<br />

schools, members of BEST and Be Solar<br />

Ltd. accompanied the students. They<br />

presented a petition about taking action<br />

over Climate Change to Premier David<br />

Burt and Deputy Premier Walter Roban.<br />
