Antiparos Greece Land Development Opportunity
Anyone that is familiar with the country of Greece have undoubtedly heard of the
popular travel destination islands of Mykonos and Santorini and the type of tourism
mecca that has been created.
In our experience, especially over the past few years in the property industry, we have
been increasingly asked by clients to find potentially new locations for them to
discover. We will be told that they are seeking a place that offers a calm and natural
environment yet with a luxury standard potential. An area that is still presents a feeling
of being untouched yet with amenities close at hand.
We believe we have found it.
Antiparos has to be one of the most idyllic Greek islands around and very up and
coming. It is a small island in the southern Aegean, at the heart of the Cyclades, which
is less than one nautical mile (1.9 km) from Paros, the port to which it is connected with
a local ferry. It can also be reached by ferry in about four hours from Athens or 30
minutes from the Paros airport. People also are known to arrive by helicopter or yacht.
The Community of Antiparos was founded in 1914 and was promoted to a municipality
in 2010 with the implementation of the Law "Kallikrates", under the principle of "each
island a municipality". It occupies an area of 45.182 square km, including the island of
Antiparos and Despotiko. It has, according to the 2011 census, 1,211 permanent
residents and a density of 27 inhabitants per km².
The island's economy is based on tourism, fishing, farming and less on agriculture in the
plains. It is known for its distinctive Cycladic beauty with white houses, cobbled streets
and beautiful flowers that thrive in the yards of the houses.
Life here seemingly revolves round the harbour-front and the main street leading from
there to the square, taking you past dozens of tavernas and restaurants and many of
the island’s shops. There is real atmosphere here and a sense of community in a very
laid-back way that visitors tend to return to every year.
