A good Brexit deal
that protects jobs
With a Brexit deal now agreed with the EU, it’s time for
Parliament to enact it and to get on with making it work for
Kensington*.
I back this deal which provides certainty for businesses so
they can carry on creating jobs and prosperity for Kensington.
I have always campaigned to protect in law the rights of EU
citizens living in the UK - including many in Kensington. I am
glad this has been agreed.
Once Brexit is implemented, we must focus on uniting the
country with a strong domestic agenda - more investment in
education, the NHS and the Police.
We need equality of opportunity for all in Kensington, no
matter where you live.

Protecting our
local environment
In Government, we’re committed to finding ways of
protecting the environment and improving air quality -
particularly here in Kensington.
We’ve already achieved a lot:
A 23% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since 2010
- the highest of any G20 nation;
For the first time ever in the last quarter, renewable
energy sources provided more electricity to UK homes and
businesses than fossil fuels.
There is much more to be done.

Your school under
threat from Labour
Zero tolerance to
crime in Kensington
Labour recently backed a set of policies that would put our
excellent local schools at risk. These include:
Removing parents’ choice - by abolishing independent
schools, free schools and academies;
Scrapping Ofsted - abolishing independent inspectors who
check school standards.
This would do lasting damage to our excellent local schools,
harming the life chances of local children.

We’re recruiting 20,000 extra police officers over the
next 3 years, with 1,369 already secured for the Met
Police. I’ve written to the Mayor to demand Kensington
gets its fair share of these - especially with the Mayor’s
closure of Notting Hill police station.
Violent crime is on the rise, and residents tell me it’s their
number one priority. That’s why I’ve been in discussions
with Policing Minister Kit Malthouse on ways we can make
Kensington safer.
By contrast, the Lib Dems want to abolish mandatory
sentences for those carrying knives and acid.

Supporting homeowners
and our high streets
Many residents tell me how difficult it is to buy or sell their
house because of the high levels of Stamp Duty. This is
preventing them moving to a better home that suits their
needs and cutting the availability of homes to first-time
buyers.
I’ve written to the Chancellor to raise these concerns and ask
for changes to Stamp Duty.
I’m also campaigning for reform of business rates. Kensington
High Street, along with other high streets in Kensington, has
many unoccupied shops and a high turnover of occupiers.
High street retail is shouldering too much of the burden of
business rates.
If elected, I will work with freeholders, businesses and central
and local Government to make our high streets vibrant and
attractive destinations.
Standing up for our
community
I’ve been working with local residents in response to
proposed developments in South Kensington, including
the Holiday Inn hotel development and the South
Kensington tube station redevelopment. I’m glad that
Kensington & Chelsea Council has applied for a Judicial
Review of the Mayor’s decision to approve the Holiday
Inn development to be heard on November 21st.
I will fight for new developments
to be in keeping with our conservation
areas and skyline.
I have been approached by many residents with regard
to problem short term holiday rentals in their
neighbourhoods. I’ve been pressuring Government for a
system of mandatory registration to be put in place.
I’ve been working with residents
in North Kensington who are
concerned about speeding
traffic. The Council is now
piloting 20mph zones.
