Prayers for the Rosary

The Apostles Creed

believe in God, the Father

Almighty, Creator of heaven

and earth. And in Jesus Christ,

His only Son, our Lord, Who was

conceived by the Holy Ghost,

born of the Virgin Mary, suffered

under Pontius Pilate, was

crucified, died, and was buried: He

descended into hell, the third day

He rose again from the dead; He

ascended into heaven, sitteth at

the right hand of God the Father

almighty; from thence He shall

come to judge the living and the

dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost,

the holy Catholic Church, the

communion of Saints, the

forgiveness of sins, the

resurrection of the body, and life

everlasting. Amen.

Our Father

ur Father, Who art in

heaven, hallowed be Thy

Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy

will be done on earth, as it is in

heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as

we forgive those who trespass

against us. And lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from

evil. Amen.

Symbolum Apostolorum

redo in Deum, Patrem

omnipotentem, Creatorem

coeli et terrae. Et in Jesum

Christum, Filium ejus unicum,

Dominum nostrum; qui conceptus

est de Spiritu Sancto; natus ex

Maria Virgine; passus sub Pontio

Pilato, crucifixus, mortuus et

sepultus: descendit ad inferos;

tertia die resurrexit a mortuis:

ascendit ad coelos, sedet ad

dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;

inde venturus est judicare vivos et

mortuos. Credo in Spiritum

Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam

catholicam, Sanctorum

communionem, remissionem

peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem,

vitam aeternam. Amen.

Pater Noster

ater noster, qui es in coelis,

sanctificetur nomen tuum.

Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat

voluntas tua, sicut in coelo et in

terra.

Panem nostrum quotidianum da

nobis hodie. Et dimitte nobis

debita nostra, sicut et nos

dimittimus debitoribus nostris.

Et ne nos inducas in tentationem:

sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Hail Mary

ail, Mary, full of grace, the

Lord is with thee; blessed

art thou amongst women, and

blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners, now and at the

hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

lory be to the Father, and to

the Son, and to the Holy

Ghost. As it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be, world

without end. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen

ail, holy Queen, Mother of

mercy; our life, our

sweetness and our hope. To thee

do we cry, poor banished children

of Eve; to thee do we send up our

sighs, mourning and weeping in

this valley of tears. Turn then, O

most gracious Advocate, thine

eyes of mercy towards us; and

after this our exile, show unto us

the blessed fruit of thy womb,

Jesus. O clement, O loving, O

sweet Virgin Mary!

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of

God.

R. That we may be made worthy

of the promises of Christ.

Ave Maria

ve Maria, gratia plena,

Dominus tecum, benedicta tu

in mulieribus, et benedictus

fructus ventris tui, Jesus. Sancta

Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis

peccatoribus, nunc et in hora

mortis nostrae. Amen.

Gloria Patri

loria patri, et Filio, et

Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in

principio et nunc et semper et in

saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Salve Regina

alve Regina, Mater

misericordiae; vita, dulcedo, et

spes nostra, salve. Ad te clamamus

exsules filii Hevae; ad te

suspiramus, gementes et flentes in

hac lacrymarum valle. Eia ergo,

Advocata nostra, illos tuos

misericordes oculos ad nos

converte: Et Jesum, benedictum

fructum ventris tui, nobis post hoc

exsilium ostende. O clemens, O

pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

V. Ora pro nobis, Sancta Dei

Genitrix.

R. Ut digni efficiamur

promissionibus Christi.

Fatima Prayer

my Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all

souls to heaven, especially those who have most need of Thy mercy.

Prayer after the Rosary

God, Whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection,

has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech

Thee, that while meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary

of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain

what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Indulgenced Prayer to Saint Joseph

o thee, O blessed Joseph, do we have recourse in our tribulation, and

having implored the help of thy thrice-holy Spouse, we confidently

invoke thy patronage also. By that charity wherewith thou wast united to

the immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by that fatherly affection with

which thou didst embrace the Child Jesus, we beseech thee and we humbly

pray, that thou wouldst look graciously upon the inheritance which Jesus

Christ hath purchased by His Blood, and assist us in our needs by thy power

and strength. Most watchful Guardian of the Holy Family, protect the

chosen people of Jesus Christ; keep far from us, most loving father, all blight

of error and corruption: mercifully assist us from heaven, most mighty

defender, in this our conflict with the powers of darkness; and, even as of

old thou didst rescue the Child Jesus from the supreme peril of His life, so

now defend God’s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from

all adversity; keep us one and all under thy continual protection, that we

may be supported by thine example and thine assistance, may be enabled

to lead a holy life, die a happy death, and come at last to the possession of

everlasting blessedness in heaven. Amen.

O Lord, grant us priests.

O Lord, grant us holy priests.

O Lord, grant us many holy priests.

O Lord, grant us many holy religious vocations.

Saint Pius X, pray for us.

Saint Anthony of Padua, pray for us

2. Let them be confounded and

ashamed that seek my soul.

3. Let them be turned backward

and blush for shame, that desire

evils to me.

4. Let them be presently turned

away blushing for shame that say to

love Thy salvation say always: The

R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

V. The Lord be with you.

R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray: O God, Whose property

is always to have mercy and to

spare, receive our humble petition:

that we, and all Thy servants who

are bound by the chain of sin, may

15

by the compassion of Thy goodness

mercifully be absolved.

Graciously hear, we beseech Thee,

O Lord, the prayers of Thy suppliants,

and forgive the sins of those

that confess to Thee: that, in Thy

bounty, Thou mayest grant us pardon

and peace.

In Thy clemency, O Lord, show

Thine unspeakable mercy to us:

that Thou mayest both loose us

from all our sins, and deliver us

from the punishments which we

deserve for them.

O God, Who by sin art offended,

and by penance pacified, mercifully

regard the prayers of Thy people

making supplication to Thee, and

turn away the scourges of Thine

anger, which we deserve for our

sins.

Almighty, everlasting God, have

mercy upon Thy servant N., our

Sovereign Pontiff, and direct him

according to Thy clemency into the

way of everlasting salvation, that by

Thy grace he may both desire those

things that are pleasing to Thee,

and perform them with all his

strength.

O God, from Whom are all holy

desires, right counsels, and just

works, give unto Thy servants that

peace which the world cannot give;

that both our hearts, given over to

Thy commands, and our times, the

fear of our foes removed, may by

Thy protection be peaceful.

Inflame, O Lord, our reins and

hearts with the fire of the Holy

Ghost: that we may serve Thee with

a chaste body and please Thee with

a clean heart.

O God, the Creator and Redeemer

of all the faithful, grant to

the souls of Thy servants departed

the remission of all their sins: that

through pious supplications they

may obtain that pardon which they

have always desired.

Go before, we beseech Thee, O

Lord, our actions by Thine inspirations,

and further them by Thine

assistance, that every word and

work of ours may begin always

from Thee, and by Thee be likewise

ended.

Almighty everlasting God, Who

hast dominion over the living and

the dead, and art merciful to all, of

whom Thou fore-knowest that they

will be Thine by faith and good

works: we humbly beseech Thee,

that they for whom we intend to

pour forth our prayers, whether this

present world still detain them in

the flesh, or the world to come hath

already received them out of their

bodies, may, through the intercession

of all Thy Saints, by the

clemency of Thy goodness, obtain

the remission of all their sins.

Through our Lord.

R. Amen.

V. The Lord be with you.

R. And with thy spirit.

V. May the almighty and merciful

Lord graciously hear us.

R. Amen.

V. And may the souls of the

faithful departed, through the

mercy of God, rest in peace.

R. Amen.

O Salutaris Hostia

(Gregorian Chant)

O saving Victim, opening wide

The gate of Heaven to man below,

Our foes press on from every side:

Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.

Benediction

O Salutaris Hostia

(Gregorian Chant)

O salutaris Hostia,

Quae coeli pandis ostium:

Bella premunt hostilia.

Da robur, fer auxilium.

To Thy great name be endless praise,

Immortal Godhead, One in Three!

O grant us endless length of days,

In our true native land with Thee.

Amen.

Uni trinoque Domino

Sit sempiterna gloria,

Qui vitam sine termino

Nobis donet in patria.

Amen.

Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

sweet Jesus, Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so

much forgetfulness, negligence, and contempt, behold us prostrate

before Thine altar eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel

indifference and injuries, to which Thy loving Heart is everywhere subject.

Mindful alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities,

which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Thy

pardon and declare our readiness to atone by voluntary expiation not only

for our own personal offenses, but also for the sins of those, who, straying

far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow

Thee, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the vows of their baptism,

have cast off the sweet yoke of Thy law.

We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage

committed against Thee; we are determined to make amends for the

manifold offenses against Christian modesty in unbecoming dress and

behavior, for all the foul seductions laid to ensnare the feet of the innocent,

for the frequent violation of Sundays and holy days, and the shocking

blasphemies uttered against Thee and Thy Saints.

We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Thy Vicar on

earth and Thy priests are subjected; for the profanation, by conscious neglect

or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Thy divine Love; and

lastly for the public crimes of nations who resist the rights and teaching

authority of the Church which Thou hast founded.

Would, O divine Jesus, we were able to wash away such abominations

with our blood! We now offer, in reparation for these violations of Thy

divine honor, the satisfaction Thou didst once make to Thine eternal Father

17

Prayer Book Art 2019_Layout 1 11/19/19 10:31 AM Page 20

on the cross and which Thou dost continue to renew daily on our altars; we

offer it in union with the acts of atonement of Thy Virgin Mother and all

the Saints and of the pious faithful on earth; and we sincerely promise to

make recompense, as far as we can with the help of Thy grace, for all neglect

of Thy great love and for the sins we and others have committed in the past.

Henceforth we will live a life of unwavering faith, of purity of conduct, of

perfect observance of the precepts of the gospel and especially that of

charity.

We promise to the best of our power to prevent others from offending

Thee and to bring as many as possible to follow Thee.

O loving Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our

model in reparation, deign to receive the voluntary offering we make of this

act of expiation; and by the crowning gift of perseverance keep us faithful

unto death in our duty and the allegiance we owe to Thee, so that we may

one day come to that happy home, where Thou with the Father and the

Holy Ghost livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

Prayer for the Pope

et us pray for our Sovereign

Pontiff, N. May the Lord keep

him and give him life, may he

make him blessed on earth, and not

allow him to be delivered into the

power of his enemies. (Ps 40:3)

V. Thou Art Peter.

R. And upon this rock I shall build

my church.

Or

V. He made him lord over His

house.

R. And prince of all His

possessions.

O God, the Shepherd and Ruler

of all Thy faithful, graciously look

upon Thy servant N, whom Thou

hast been pleased to appoint pastor

over Thy Church: grant, we beseech

Thee, that by both word and

example he may edify those over

whom he is set, and together with

the flock committed to his care,

may attain to eternal life. Through

Christ our Lord. Amen.

Confession

Three Conditions for Mortal Sin:

Grave matter, Full knowledge, & Deliberate consent.

Prayers of Preparation for Confession

Confiteor

confess to almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Michael

the Archangel, to blessed John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles Peter

and Paul, and to all the Saints, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought,

word, and deed, through my fault, through my fault, through my most

grievous fault. Therefore I beseech blessed Mary ever Virgin, blessed

Michael the Archangel, blessed John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter

and Paul, and all the Saints, to pray to the Lord our God for me.

R. May almighty God have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and bring

us unto life everlasting. Amen.

V. May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon, absolution, and

remission of our sins. Amen.

Act of Contrition

my God! I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest all

my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell; but

most of all because they offend Thee my God, who art all good and

deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to

confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.

Act of True Contrition

my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life,

since my last confession, and since my last act of contrition.

O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them

above all things, because they have crucified my loving Savior, Jesus Christ,

but most of all, because they offend Thine Infinite Goodness. I firmly

resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully

to avoid all the near occasions of sin. Amen.

Prayer for Confession

y God, grant me light to know my sins, grace to confess them with

humility, grace to be truly sorry for them, and above all, the grace of

a sincere purpose of amendment. All ye saints in heaven who were at one

time sinners here on earth, pray and intercede for me, a poor sinner; help

me to make a good confession. Mary, Refuge of Sinners, pray for me.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint Gerard

aint Gerard, Patron of a Good Confession, pray for souls overcome by

fear and shame; your prayers won courage to confess sins willfully

concealed from the minister of God. Help me to make a good confession.

Help me to know my sins.

Obtain for me true sorrow for my sins, a firm purpose never to sin again.

And when I kneel in the Confessional be with me and help me to tell all

my sins in spite of fear or shame. Saint Gerard, in your hands I place this

Confession. Be to me what you were to many another poor soul, “an angel

of God sent to deliver me from hell.” Amen.

Examination of Conscience

Prayer of St. Alphonsus

God of Infinite Majesty, behold at Thy feet a traitor who has again

offended Thee, but who now in all humility asks Thy pardon; O Lord,

reject me not. Thou canst not despise my humble heart. I thank Thee for

having waited for me, for not having allowed me to die when I was in sin

and to be sent to Hell, as I have deserved. Thy patience Thou hast shown

towards me makes me hope that through the merits of Jesus Christ Thou

wilt pardon me in this confession all my offenses. I repent of them because

I have deserved hell and I have lost heaven; I have displeased Thee Who

art Infinite Goodness.

Thou hast forgiven me so many times, and I, notwithstanding the graces

and lights which thou hast given me, have continued to offend thee. Others

have sinned in darkness, but I have done so in the midst of light. But

hearken to Thy Son, whom I have sacrificed this morning, and who now

dwells in my breast; he seeks mercy and pardon for me. Forgive me, for

the love of Jesus Christ, whilst I repent with all my heart of having offended

thee, Infinite Goodness.

I love Thee O Sovereign God and because I love Thee, I repent of all my

offences against Thee. I have turned my back upon Thee. I have despised

thy grace, Thy friendship in a word. O Lord, I have willfully lost Thee. For

the love of Jesus Christ, forgive me all my sins, I repent of them with my

whole heart, I hate, I detest them, I abhor them more than all other evils. I

repent not only of my mortal but also my venial sins which likewise

displease Thee.

I propose for the future, with the help of Thy grace, to never more

willfully offend Thee. My God, may I die rather than sin again. Amen.

Prayers for Before Communion

Prayer of St. Ambrose

gracious Lord Jesus Christ, I, a sinner, not presuming on my own

merits, but trusting to Thy mercy and goodness, fear and tremble in

drawing near to the Table of which is spread Thy banquet of all delights.

For I have defiled both my heart and body with many sins, and have not

kept a strict guard over my mind and tongue. Wherefore, O gracious God,

O awful Majesty, I, a wretched creature, reduced to extremity, have recourse

to Thee, the fount of mercy; I fly to Thee that I may be healed, and take

refuge under Thy protection, and I ardently desire to have Him as my Savior

Whom I am unable to withstand as my Judge. To Thee , O Lord, I show

my wounds, to Thee I lay bare my shame. I know that my sins are many

and great, on account of which I am filled with fear. But I trust in Thy

mercy, for it is unbounded. Look down upon me, therefore, with eyes of

mercy, O Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and Man, crucified for man.

Hearken unto me, for my hope is in Thee; have mercy on me, who am full

of misery and sin, Thou Who wilt never cease to let flow the fountain of

mercy. Hail, Thou saving Victim, offered for me and for all mankind on

the tree of the cross. Hail, Thou noble and precious Blood, flowing from

the wounds of my crucified Lord Jesus Christ and washing away the sins

of the whole world. Remember, O Lord, Thy creature, whom Thou hast

redeemed with Thy Blood. I am grieved because I have sinned, I desire to

make amends for what I have done. Take away from me therefore, O most

merciful Father, all my iniquities and offenses, that, being purified both in

soul and body, I may worthily partake of the Holy of Holies; and grant that

this holy oblation of Thy Body and Blood, of which all unworthy I purpose

to partake, may be to me the full remission of my sins, the perfect cleansing

of my offenses, the means of driving away all evil thoughts and of renewing

all holy desires, the advancement of works pleasing to Thee, as well as the

strongest defense and protection for soul and body against the craft and

snares of my enemies. Amen.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

lmighty and eternal God, behold, I approach the Sacrament of Thine

only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I approach as one who is

sick to the physician of life, as one unclean to the well-spring of mercy and

goodness, as one blind to the light of eternal brightness, as one poor and

needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Wherefore I beseech Thee, of Thine

infinite goodness, to heal my sickness, to wash away my filth, to enlighten

my blindness, to enrich my poverty, and to clothe my nakedness, that I may

receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings and the Lord of lords with

such reverence and humility, with such contrition and devotion, with such

purity and faith, with such purpose and intention, as may conduce to the

salvation of my soul. Grant, I beseech Thee, that I may receive not only the

Sacrament of the Body and Blood of our Lord, but also the fruit and virtue

of this Sacrament. O most indulgent and merciful God, grant me so to

receive the Body of Thine only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which

He took of the Virgin Mary, that I may be found worthy to be incorporated

with His mystical body and numbered among His members. O most loving

Father, grant that I may one day contemplate for ever face to face Thy

beloved Son, Whom now on my pilgrimage I am about to receive under a

veil, Who liveth and reighneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost,

God for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer before a Crucifix

ehold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in

Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul, I pray and

beseech Thee that Thou would impress upon my heart lively sentiments of

faith, hope and charity, with true repentance for my sins and a firm desire

of amendment, whilst with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within

myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious wounds, having

before mine eyes that which the Prophet David spoke of Thee, O good

Jesus: They have pieced My hands and My feet, they have numbered all My

bones. Amen.

Universal Prayer of Clement XI

For All Things Necessary To Salvation

my God, I believe in Thee, but do Thou strengthen my faith. All my

hopes are in Thee, do Thou secure them. I love Thee with my whole

heart, teach me to love Thee daily more and more. I am sorry for having

offended Thee, do Thou increase my sorrow.

I adore Thee as my First Beginning; I aspire after Thee as my Last End.

I give Thee thanks as my constant Benefactor; I call upon Thee as my

Sovereign Protector.

Vouchsafe, O my God, to conduct me by Thy wisdom, to restrain me

by Thy justice, to comfort me by Thy mercy, to defend me by Thy power.

To Thee I desire to consecrate all my thoughts, words, actions, and

sufferings; that henceforward I may think of Thee, speak of Thee, and

willingly refer all my actions to Thy greater glory: and suffer willingly

whatever Thou shalt appoint.

Lord, I desire that in all things Thy will may be done, because it is Thy

will, and in the manner that Thou willest.

I beg of Thee to enlighten my understanding, to inflame my will, to

purify my body, and to sanctify my soul.

Give me strength, O my God, to expiate my offenses, to overcome my

temptations, to subdue my passions, and to acquire the virtues proper for

my state.

Fill my heart with tender affection for Thy goodness, a hatred for my

faults, a love for my neighbour, and a contempt of the world.

Let me always remember to be submissive to my superiors, charitable

to my inferiors, faithful to my friends, and indulgent towards my enemies.

Assist me to overcome sensuality by mortification, avarice by almsgiving,

anger by meekness and tepidity by devotion.

25

Prayer Book Art 2019_Layout 1 11/19/19 10:31 AM Page 28

O my God, make me prudent in my undertakings, courageous in

dangers, patient in afflictions, and humble in prosperity. Grant, that I may

be ever attentive in my prayers, temperate at my meals, diligent in my

employments, and constant in my resolutions.

Let my conscience be ever upright and pure, my exterior modest, my

conversation edifying, and my comportment regular.

Assist me, that I may continually labour to overcome nature, by

corresponding to Thy grace, to keep Thy commandments, and to work out

my salvation.

Discover to me, O my God, the nothingness of this world, the greatness

of heaven, the shortness of time, and the length of eternity.

Grant, that I may prepare for death, that I may fear Thy judgments,

that I may escape hell, and in the end obtain heaven, through Jesus Christ,

our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of St. Augustine

(Made public by order of Pope Urban VII 430)

efore Thine eyes, O Lord, we bring our sins, and we compare them

with the stripes we have received.

If we examine the evil we have wrought, what we suffer is little, what

we deserve is great.

What we have committed is very grievous, what we have suffered is

very slight.

We feel the punishment of sin, yet withdraw not from the obstinacy of

sinning.

Under Thy lash our inconstancy is visited, but our sinfulness is not

changed.

Our suffering soul is tormented, but our neck is not bent.

Our life groans under sorrow, yet amends not in deed.

If Thou spare us, we correct not our ways; if Thou punish, we cannot

endure it.

In time of correction we confess our wrongdoing; after Thy visitation we

forget that we have wept.

If Thou stretchest forth Thy hand, we promise amendment; if Thou

withholdest the sword, we keep not our promise.

If Thou strikest, we cry out for mercy; if Thou sparest, we again provoke

Thee to strike.

Here we are before Thee, O Lord, confessedly guilty; we know that

unless Thou pardon we shall deservedly perish.

26

Prayer Book Art 2019_Layout 1 11/19/19 10:31 AM Page 29

Grant then, O almighty Father, without our deserving it, the pardon

we ask; Thou Who madest out of nothing those who ask Thee. Through

Christ our Lord. Amen.

V. Deal not with us, O Lord, according to our sins.

R. Neither requite us according to our iniquities.

Let us pray:

O God, Who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully

regard the prayers of Thy suppliant people, and turn away the scourges of

Thy wrath, which we deserve for our sins. Through Christ Our Lord.

Amen.

An Oblation (of St. Ignatius Loyola)

ake, O Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding,

and my entire will, all that I have and possess. Thou hast given all to

me. To Thee, O Lord, I return it. All is Thine; dispose of it wholly

according to Thy will. Give me Thy love and Thy grace. With these I am

rich enough, and I ask for nothing more.

Petitions of St. Augustine (Noverim Me)

O Lord Jesus, let me know myself, let me know Thee,

And desire nothing else but only Thee.

Let me hate myself and love Thee,

And do all things for the sake of Thee.

Let me humble myself, and exalt Thee,

And think of nothing else but Thee.

Let me die to myself, and live in Thee,

And accept whatever happens as coming from Thee.

Let me forsake myself and walk after Thee,

And ever desire to follow Thee.

Let me flee from myself, and turn to Thee,

That so I may merit to be defended by Thee.

Let me fear for myself, let me fear Thee,

And be amongst those who are chosen by Thee.

Let me distrust myself, and trust in Thee,

And ever obey for the love of Thee.

Let me cleave to nothing but only Thee,

And ever be poor for the sake of Thee.

Look upon me, that I may love Thee.

Call me, that I may see Thee,

And forever possess Thee. Amen.

Prayer of St. Padre Pio

TAY with me, O Lord, for it is necessary to have Thee present so that

I do not forget Thee; because Thou knowest how easily I abandon Thee.

STAY with me, O Lord, because I am weak and need Thy strength that I

may not fall so often.

STAY with me, O Lord, Thou art my life; and without Thee, I am without

fervour.

STAY with me, O Lord, for Thou art my guiding light; and without Thee,

I am in darkness.

STAY with me, O Lord, to show me Thy Divine Will.

STAY with me, O Lord, that I may hear Thy voice and follow Thee.

STAY with me, O Lord, for it is my desire to love Thee and always be in

Thy company.

STAY with me, O Lord, that I may always be faithful to Thee.

STAY with me, O Lord, for as poor as my soul may be, I want it to be a

place of consolation for Thee, a nest of love.

STAY with me, O Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a

close, and life passes; death, judgment, eternity approaches. It is necessary

to renew my strength, so that I may not to falter on the way, and for this I

need Thee.

IT is getting late and death is nearing. I fear the darkness, my temptations,

my crosses with their bitterness and fatigue, my sorrows. O how I need

Thee, my Dear God, in this lonely night of exile.

STAY with me, O Jesus, in life with all its dangers. I need Thee.

LET me recognize Thee as Thy disciples did at the fraction of the bread; so

that the Holy Eucharist be the light that dispels the darkness, the strength

which sustains me; the sole joy of my heart.

STAY with me, O Lord, when at the hour of my death, I wish to remain

united to Thee, if not by Holy Eucharist, at least by Thy Grace and Love.

STAY with me, O Lord, I do not ask for Divine Consolation, because I am

unworthy; but the gift of Thy presence, O yes! I beg it of Thee!

STAY with me, O Lord, it is Thee alone I seek; Thy love, Thy grace; Thy

will, Thy heart, Thy spirit, because I love Thee and ask no other reward than

to love Thee more and more.

WITH a firm and practical love, I will love Thee with my whole heart while

on earth, so that I may love Thee perfectly throughout Eternity.

Prayer of St. Alphonsus

y dear Jesus, how much do I not owe Thee. By the merits of Thy

blood I trust that I have this day been pardoned. I thank Thee with

all my heart. My God, I have often lost Thee in the past, but I will lose Thee

no more. I am really resolved to change my life. Thou deservest all my love.

My will is never again to be separated from Thee. I have already promised

Thee, and I promise Thee again at this moment, rather to die than to offend

Thee again. I promise to avoid the occasions of my sins, and to use this

means (here mention it) for not falling again. But Thou my Jesus, knowest

my weaknesses; give me the grace to be faithful to Thee until death, and to

have recourse to Thee in my temptations. Most Holy Virgin Mary assist

me. You are the Mother of Perseverance: all my hope is in Thee; help me to

keep my resolutions. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary for these intentions.

(Composed by Pope St. Pius X.)

lorious St. Joseph, model of all who are devoted to labor, obtain for

labor the gifts I have received from God, to work methodically, peacefully,

and in moderation and patience, without ever shrinking from it through

weariness or difficulty to work; above all, with purity of intention and

unselfishness, having unceasingly before my eyes death and the account I

have to render of time lost, talents unused, good not done, and vain

complacency in success, so baneful to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for

Mary, all to imitate thee, O patriarch St. Joseph! This shall be my motto for

life and eternity.

Morning and Evening Prayer

n the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Blessed be the holy and undivided Trinity, now and for evermore. Amen

Great God, the Lord of heaven and earth! I prostrate myself before Thee.

With all the Angels and Saints I adore Thee. I acknowledge Thee to be my

Creator and sovereign Lord, my first beginning and last end. I render to

Thee the homage of my being and life. I submit myself to Thy holy Will,

and I devote myself to Thy divine service, now and forever. Amen.

O

The Miraculous Medal Prayer

h Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Act of Consecration of the Human Race

to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

ost sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us

humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine, and Thine we

wish to be; but, to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us

freely consecrates himself today to Thy most Sacred Heart.

Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts,

have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw

them to Thy Sacred Heart.

Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken

Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant

that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of

wretchedness and hunger.

Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or

whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and

unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of

idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them all into the light and

Kingdom of God.

Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of that race, once Thy

chosen people, of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the

Savior; may It now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.

Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from

harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from

pole to pole with one cry: Praise be to the divine Heart that wrought our

salvation; to It be Glory and honour for ever. Amen.

Prayer of Father Olier

Jesus! living in Mary, come and live in Thy servants, in the Spirit of

Thy Holiness, in the Fullness of Thy Power, in the reality of Thy

Virtues, in the Communion of Thy Mysteries. Have dominion over every

adverse power, in Thy Spirit, to the glory of the Father. Amen.

Prayer for Priests

Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Christ, and

for love of Him Who is the eternal High-priest, have pity on Thy

priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and

frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in

them by the imposition of the Bishop's hands. Keep them close to Thee,

lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in

the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests; for Thy

unfaithful and tepid priests; for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in

distant mission fields; for Thy tempted priests; for Thy lonely and desolate

priests; for Thy young priests; for Thy aged priests; for Thy sick priests; for

Thy dying priests; for the souls of Thy priests in purgatory.

But above all I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me: the priest

who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at

whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy

Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me or helped me and

encouraged me; all the priests to whom I

am indebted in any other way, particularly

(your priest’s name here). O Jesus, keep

them all close to Thy heart, and bless them

abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for

us; obtain for us and send us many and

holy priests. Amen. (3 times)
