Subaru Levorg

the new Subaru Levorg....
Time spent with my family is a rare treat
so I’m looking forward to Christmas this
year. My other half builds up holidays at
work and when we finally agree the week
that suits both our hectic schedules and
the school holidays, the thought of the
usual frantic preparations are off-putting.
The biggest frustration is getting the kids
ready on time and then trying to cram
everything into the boot of whichever car
I am road testing.
Luckily for us the week we chose for our
holiday with relatives up North, was the
week that Subaru delivered their latest
family tourer. The refreshed 2019 Levorg,
is a sporty but practical estate car. I
enjoy the prestige of driving a brand like
Subaru. But when I take my family away,
then I want to know I am driving a safe
car and Subaru has been voted Best
Manufacturer for Safety Features in the
2019 Driver Power Survey.
The Levorg has Symmetrical All-Wheel
Drive technology. Other manufacturers
will boast four-wheel drive but only
Subaru has a system which delivers
power to all four wheels, at all times. This
provides instant and better traction on
wet and slippery roads. Combined with
the Boxer engine, which sits centrally,
deeper in the engine bay, the Levorg has
a more stable and safer ride, perfect for
the flooding we encountered.
The Levorg is also very comfortable,
so much so that my partner who was
supposed to help with the kids wants and
needs, while I drove, slept throughout the
journey. The kids said how comfortable
the ride is in the rear and the driver’s seat
has power adjustable lumbar support,
but I was quietly happy to experience the
sheer driving enjoyment that Subaru has
always been able to deliver.
The exterior front face has been
revamped with a more refined front
bumper, a sharper front grille and
refreshed LED steering responsive
headlights which provided good visibility
as the light dimmed. There are enhanced
fog light designs and newly styled 18”
alloy wheels.
In the quality cabin, there has been
a variety of discreet upgrades to the
instrument panel, door trim and switches.
Rear seat and boot space usability has
been enhanced with a new 40/20/40 split
folding rear seat configuration that is
particularly suited to loading long items
with two passengers seated in the rear.
Levorg features all of the infotainment
and audio offerings you would expect
in a family tourer. The intuitive 7”
multifunction colour touchscreen is easy
to use and contains Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto, DAB radio, Bluetooth®
connectivity and satellite navigation.
For 2019, there is a new 2 litre naturally
aspirated petrol engine combined with
Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT transmission.
Safety features include EyeSight driver
assistance with adaptive cruise control,
pre-collision braking and lane departure
warning. Previous technologies included
blind spot monitoring and a reversing
camera and for 2019, there is a front
view camera and smart rear-view mirror
to improve visibility in areas that would
ordinarily be obstructed from view.
Comfortable and capable around town,
effortless on the motorway and with
exhilarating handling on a coastal road,
the refreshed Subaru Levorg was our
perfect family tourer.
