Vinyl Gutters
Snap chalkline to set a reference mark for
installing the drop outlets and gutter brackets.
The recommended slope to drain water is
1/4" for every 10' of gutter.
Mark the highest point of the chalkline
about 3/4" below the roof shingles.
Space the gutter brackets about 30" apart.
Every 10' leave a space for installing a
gutter slip-joint.
Metal Gutters
A slope of about 1" for every 16' of gutter is
necessary to provide good drainage. You
can easily set the slope by allowing 1-1/4" fall
for every two 10' lengths of gutter.
If you are using spikes and ferrules, space
them about 2-1/2' apart in the gutter run.
When the first length of gutter is in place,
continue assembling the components, using
slip connectors at joints, and inside or
outside mitres as needed.
To bring downspouts from the gutter outlet
back flush with the wall, use two elbows.
