Note to conductor: Measure 1 - invite students who are
humming to listen to the pitch given by the keyboard first,
then gently enter, humming on a G in the octave that suits
their voice. Discuss stagger breathing and how to maintain
a constant, smooth, subtle sound without interruption.
"Release with care" notation: The notation displayed as a
faded out note with decresecendo provides the teaching
opportunity to invite players to think about how to
articulate the release of their sound. In this case, when this
notation occurs, I, the composer, wish students to
articulate a soft release, using the breath, rather than a
sudden halt to the sound.
