the opening of the new Gallery.
The works deal with how space is
dealt with in relation to the body,
how artists work with the flip between memory and experience
and how politics and performance are traversed. You’ll
be transported back to the decade that shaped modern
Australia.
Perth Brutal:
Dreaming in Concrete
Presented by Art Gallery of Western
Australia
AGWA 40 – Celebrating the
anniversary of AGWA’s 1979
Brutalist building. Opened on 2
October 1979, the new Art Gallery
of WA building was a dramatic
example of late Brutalist architecture designed by Charles
Sierakowski. The exhibition opens out the many layers of
the history of the building’s development and its place in
the Perth Cultural Centre.

‘Pujiman’, a collaboration by
Martumili Artists & Spinifex Hill
Artists brings the last pujiman
(desert born) generation together
with their younger artists to
share knowledge of culture and
Country. The exhibition includes
major collaborative paintings, as well as animation, film and
drawing.
