Welcome from the PremierIt is with great pleasure that I welcome youto the 2020 FRINGE WORLD Guide. The 2020festival offers four weeks of entertainment, withplenty of options to suit everyone.FRINGE WORLD continues to deliver moreexcitement, entertainment and colour each year.Since its humble beginnings in 2011, FRINGEWORLD has grown into one of the largestavenues for Western Australians to activelyengage with arts and culture.Last year’s festival attracted over 850,000people to free and ticketed events. Over 3,500artists took part, of which 74 per cent werehomegrown Western Australians.FRINGE WORLD is a favourite with householdsacross Perth. In 2019, ticket purchaserscame from every residential postcode in themetropolitan area which generated more than$10 million in box office sales.FRINGE WORLD creates cultural, social andeconomic benefits for Perth and the entire State,and I look forward to its continued growth underthe stewardship of new Chief Executive OfficerSharon Burgess.Join me in showing your support for thefestival. Girls School in East Perthwill be transformed into the second-largest Hubof the Festival. There will be heaps to enjoywith comedy, cabaret and more throughout thehistoric and iconic Art-Deco building.Pack a carry-on and be part of FRINGE WORLDhistory for a once in a Fringe-time experiencewith an overnight stay on a cruise ship forFringe on the Water. Enjoy a memorablestay on the Vasco da Gama ported in Fremantlewith a highlight performance by YUCK Circus,roving Fringe performers and entertainmentsinto the night.Fringe’s popular Hubs all return with fresh andfun programming to enchant all Fringe-goersincluding everyone’s favourite Fringe playgroundThe Woodside Pleasure Garden plus abumper school-holiday-boredom-busting FringeKids line-up.
