Rainbow Fish Speak Easy
Word/Play
For the broken and the brilliant
(and all their friends)
Rainbow Fish Speak Easy is a much beloved
spoken word poetry night for Yeovil, with open
mic slots available for anyone with an original
poem to share. The event, hosted by BBC
Somerset poet Liv Torc, is fun, funny, tender
and tremendous; with tips for successfully
navigating the human condition in all its
luminous, ludicrous and lunatic dimensions.
The show comes out of Take Art's
'performance poetry on prescription' Word/
Play project, which helps adults with mental
health or learning challenges find new ways
to talk about their lives. Along with an open
mic and a short performance from the latest
Word/Play group, each Rainbow Fish Speak
Easy features an exciting poetry headliner.
In January we are thrilled to welcome Matt
Harvey, writer, poet, enemy of all that’s
difficult and upsetting, Matt’s way with
words has taken him from Totnes to the
Wimbledon Tennis Championships via
Saturday Live, the Edinburgh Festival and
the Work section of the Guardian. He is
host of Radio 4’s Wondermentalist Cabaret,
creator of Empath Man, and author of The
Hole in the Sum of my Parts, Where Earwigs
Dare and Mindless Body Spineless Mind.
In February we will be headlined by uber
mother, poet, author and joy-spinner
Thommie Gillow. The May headliner is still
to be announced.
Email livtorc@yahoo.com for an open mic slot.
