the Central Government

STAY INDOORS: PANTHER ON THE PROWL
A search for the big cat was on with drones till the
search operations were called due to bad light
Kartikey Dev Singh
Jaipur: Already terrorised
with the movement
of panthers in the Kulish
Smriti Van located at
the JLN Marg, leading to
a stay on civilian movement
in the park for several
months, Jaipurites
were in for another major
shock on Thursday
evening when a panther,
decided to leave its
“green pastures” and
safe environs of the
Jhalana forest and
strolled to a heavily inhabited
areas of the
Takht-E-Shahi Road.
The development created
a furore amongst the
residents, and forest and
police officials alike who
tried to find the big cat,
in order to tranquillise
it, however failed in
their efforts. The administration
pressed drones
into service to locate the
feline, but in vain.
Pictures and videos
of the feline went viral
on social media as wary
locals shared the “sightings,”
in the urban jungle,
of the feline, jumping
effortlessly from
over the eight feet high
main door of one house,
or from one terrace to
another. The entire area
forming Kanota Bagh,
came under forced lock
down as people feared
moving out of their
houses. Dogs and small
children were forced inside
the security of the
rooms while relatives
were asked not to come
unannounced, since
there was a possibility
of the feline being on
the prowl, why else
would a panther venture
out of forest and
into human habitation.
Panther was first spotted
by a woman named
Jyotsana. “I was leaving
the house when I saw the
feline. At first, I thought
a dog was headed towards
me, but then I realised
it was a panther. I
started perspiring pro-
fusely and was so
stunned that I could not
even move. I remember
my throat suddenly went
dry. However, the feline
abruptly turned away
and I fled inside the
house and locked the
doors,” the woman regaled
her travail. Information
then started
coming as Jyotsana suggested
that the panther
came from the side of
Narayan Niwas hotel.
News of additional
sightings of the panther
were reported by
locals and by this time,
the police and forest officials
were convinced
that if not a panther, at
least a wild animal was
in the residential areas.
As the forest officials
studied the sighting areas,
realisation dawned
on finding pugmarks,
that a panther was actually
afoot. “Immediately
additional officials
and cops were called in
to aid in the search operation
to find the feline.
The pictures were
also being received and
we could trail the feline,
although could not
see it. Then the CCTV
footage were seen by locals
and it was then
learnt that the feline
was moving around in
the houses comfortably,”
said officials.
The exercise that
started at 5 pm on
Thursday, culminated
within a couple of
hours as dusk fell. “It is
not prudent to search
for a feline that dwells
and thrives in the dark.
So, we have called off
the search. Its last location
appears to be in the
SMS School and we
have posted teams in
the area to stop any human
movement while
school administration
has alerted parents that
the school will be closed
for Friday. The search
and rescue of the feline
will begin in the morning,”
officials said.

‘Turbulence’: Airline
goof-up leaves
passengers in fix
First India News
Jaipur: The mismanagement
of airline at
Jaipur Airport caused
problems to air travellers
on Thursday
morning.
Two airline cancelled
flights to two
different cities, citing
operational reasons.
SpiceJet’s SG-58/57
Jaipur-Dubai flight,
which has been running
late for the last 3
days, was cancelled on
Thursday.
Due to this, passengers
coming to Jaipur
from Dubai and going
from Dubai to Jaipur
had to face a lot of
problems.
As per the schedule,
the flight reaches
Jaipur from Dubai at
8.10 am and leaves for
Dubai at 9.40 am. In
the morning, passengers
leaving for Dubai
reached the airport
but were in for a shock.
As most of them were
from the districts of
Sikar, Nagaur, Churu,
Jhunjhunu etc., they
demanded alternative
boarding arrangements,
however, the
airline booked tickets
for some seats
available in the coming
days.
Apart from the
Dubai flight, Air India
also cancelled the
flight 9I-687/688 to
Agra, which leaves at
10.15 am and reaches
Jaipur at 12.35 pm.
Similarly, another
SpiceJet flight SG-1006
could not land due to
fog at Kishangarh Airport
in the morning.
The flight carrying 89
passengers going from
Hyderabad to Kishangarh
was diverted
to Jaipur.
The passengers
were stuck in Jaipur
for one and a half
hours. The Hyderabad-
Kishangarh flight
reaches Kishangarh

Chacha Chaudhary, Sabu to help
improve city’s swachh ranking!
Mukesh Sharma
Jaipur: Famous cartoon
characters immortalised
by Late Pran, in
the eighties—Chacha
Chaudhary and Sabu—
will now make the children
aware about the
cleanliness and Swachh
Survekshan-2020. Chacha
Chaudhary and
Sabu will tell them how
Jaipur can be made
number one in the survey.
The Jaipur Municipal
Corporation (JMC)
has done this innovation
this time to make
children aware of
cleanliness and has released
the comics of
Chacha Chaudhary and
Sabu for the Survekshan.
These comics
will be distributed to
school children.
Jaipur Greater and
Heritage Municipal
Corporation Administrator
Vijaypal Singh
launched comics on
Thursday with the
name, Chacha Chaudhary
and Swachh Survekshan-2020.
These
comics series will be
distributed to the students
in the schools so
that they get to know
about the Swachh Survekshan-2020
and also
make their parents and
relatives aware. According
to municipal authorities,
children can
play an important role
in the Swachh Survekshan.
If a child is made
aware, then he can
make his parents, family,
relatives and neighbors
aware about cleanliness.
This is the reason,
the idea of comics
has been brought to
make them aware in an
easy way about the survey.
Seven questions
asked under the citizen
feedback prescribed in
the Swachh Survekshan
are presented attractively
in comics.
Chacha Chaudhary
asks the question and
Sabu answers and also
tells how many marks
the question will be carrying.
For example,
Chacha Chaudhary
asks, “Sabu, do you
know that the city of
Jaipur is participating
in the Swachh Survekshan-2020?”
Sabu replies,
“Yes I know and
for this, our city will get
100 marks as well”.
Sabu also asks him
questions on hearing
Chacha’s praise and
Chacha also gives the
exact answer. It is
worth noting that in
Swachh Survekshan,
seven questions will be
asked by the team coming
from the Centre either
directly or through
phone call. The number
is set for each question.
If more than 95%
of the people answer
the question correctly,
then Jaipur will get full
marks on that question.
With this, on the
last cover page of the
comics, Chacha Chaudhary
is seen taking out
the broom and sending
the message that “together
we will make
the city number one in
cleanliness”.

is looking for an offi cer with clean image, good work

CENTRE MIFFED AS
STATE NOT SENDING
IPS ON DEPUTATION
IPS offi cials from the state might
be headed for “dire straits”. The
reason: the posts of DG, ADG and
IG could be decreased in the state
as the Home department is allegedly
“miffed” over the state not sending
offi cials on central deputation. The
Home department feels that to
promote their chosen offi cials, the
state government fi rst get an increase
in posts sanctioned but later,
offi cials are not sent on deputation
to the centre. Moreover, the Home
department has also decided to put
a cap on the number of offi cials sent
for deputation and Chief Secretaries
of all the states have been informed
abut the same.
A CHEMISTRY THAT
THE PHQ IS
TALKING ABOUT!
The chemistry between a
“Liasioner” and a “bade
sahab” is a hot topic in the PHQ
these days. The liasioner has
been inviting the bade sahab to
inaugurations of buildings. The
bade sahab, who till recently
held an important responsibility
in Jaipur, has been “helping” the
liasioner since his Jaipur days
and prior too. Interestingly, it
is said that Liasioner, aided by
bade sahab, had got several
land-mafi as to cough up money
and moreover, with “helping
hand” provided by bade sahab,
he has even kept several officials
“caught” in his “web”.
BRAVO SAHAB & HIS
FAV BADE SAHAB
One Bravo sahab has become
a “favoured pet” of a “bade
sahab”, and finds it convenient
to get his “work” done by police
stations, as he sits near this
sahab’s offi ce. At the behest of
the “bade sahab” the Bravo has
been making the police stations’
staff run about like puppets
to his tune and through the
Bravo, the Bade sahab has also
started in “settlement” work.
The “sahab” has been a little
careful off late since his earlier
“favoured pet” was not adapt to
‘’covert operations” and thus the
Bravo is now handling sahab’s”
affairs” since he is discreet and
low profi le.

‘Believe Cong will take ‘good

Jaipur: Deputy Chief
Minister Sachin Pilot
on Thursday said he believed
the Congress will
take a “good decision”
on its national leadership,
which will bring it
back to power in
the states and at the
Centre.
Sonia Gandhi was
elected interim president
of the party when
Rahul Gandhi resigned
earlier this year in the
wake of the Lok Sabha
debacle.
“I believe that the
party would take a good
and meaningful decision
on leadership so
that it can make a comeback
with double force
in the states and eventually
at the centre,” Pilot,
who is also the state
Congress chief, said.
Pilot said the state
government has done
good work and the Opposition
is not able to
find faults. We are also
trying to better the law
and order situation.
“Interim is in itself a

This is an interim arrangement
and I believe
that the party would
soon take a decision. It
is the job of the working
committee and the
AICC,” he told reporters
here.
He said Rahul Gandhi
had put forth the party’s
stance in an aggressive
manner, challenging the
Union government.
Pilot said the party
had kept the youth on
the forefront and they
should be empowered.
Targeting the Centre
for the Citizenship Bill,
he said pubic sentiments
were against the
legislation.
The Centre was neglecting
the real issues
connected with people’s
lives and was diverting
public attention, he
claimed. “They are not
bothered about inflation
and the economic
slowdown. Either they
are not capable of taking
effective action or
they do not want to do
it,” he said.
He said the Congress
would hold a massive
rally in Delhi on 14 December.

principal in connection
with rape of a

regard had been registered
by the girl working
in the Jamia Darul

madarsa saying
that while she was
asleep one night,
around 3 am, the Principal
Mohammad Yahya
entered her room and
raped her. Acting swiftly
on the report, the
cops nabbed Yahya, a
native of Salimpur in
West Bengal. The girl
has been staying here
for a little over one year.
Investigation in the
matter is being conducted,”
said Ashok
Gupta, additional police
commissioner.
CRIME BRANCH
3 held for trapping
unsuspecting people
The Jalupura police arrested
three men on
Thursday in connection
with luring people into
a trap of increasing
their income by using a
mobile app. “The men
have been identified as
Divyanshu Ganguli, Rajendra
Mahindra and
Rashmikant. They had
targeted several people
from across various
states by luring them on
earning lakhs of rupees
by using business and
educational apps,” officials
said.
Two officials in ACB
trap for taking bribe
The Anti-Corruption
Bureau conducted two
traps in Thursday and
nabbed two officials, an
assistant engineer in
Jodhpur and a head
constable at Karauli. In
the first trap, the ACB
sleuths nabbed assistant
engineer Suresh
Kumar Choudhary
posted in the Shergarh
discom office of Jodhpur
district. “A VCR had
been filed of an illegal
connection run at the
complainant’s restaurant
and a penalty of
Rs2 lakh was levied in
which the complainant
struck a deal to give
Rs50,000 as bribe if the
official would write a
penalty of just Rs20,000.
The bribe money was
handed to the accused’s
driver Ganpat and as
soon as the driver handed
over the money, the
bureau team nabbed
Suresh Kumar. Further
action in the matter is
being taken,” officials
said.
In a second trap, the
Karauli unit of ACB
nabbed a head constable
of Boli police station
while accepting a
bribe of Rs3,000. “One
Dharj Raigar had filed
complaint saying that
head constable, Sohan
Lal, had demanded a
bribe to take action in a
case registered by
Dhanraj. When the ACB
team raided the spot to
nab the man red handed,
the constable tried
to flee and jumped over
the police station’s wall,
however, the Bureau
sleuths nabbed him. Interestingly,
this is the
second time in one
month that a trap has
been undertaken in
Boli police station,” officials
said.
FROM PG 1
Dismissed...
With the dismissal of
these review pleas, the
parties to the litigation
are left with legal recourse
of filing curative
petition only.
A curative petition is
the last legal recourse in
the apex court for curing
the defects and is also
heard in-chamber unless
a prima facie case is
made out for reconsideration
of the verdict.
A five-judge bench,
headed by the then
Chief Justice of India
Ranjan Gogoi, had in a
unanimous verdict on
November 9 decreed the
entire 2.77 acre disputed
land in favour of deity
‘Ram Lalla’ and also directed
the Centre to allot
a five-acre plot to Sunni
Waqf Board for building
a mosque in Ayodhya.
On December 2, the
first plea seeking review
of Ayodhya verdict was
filed in the apex court by
Maulana Syed Ashhad
Rashidi, legal heir of
original litigant M Siddiq
and also the Uttar
Pradesh president of the
Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind.
On December 9, two
more review petitions
were filed, one by the
Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha
and the other
by 40 persons, including
rights activists. Later,
Nirmohi Akhara also
filed a review petition.
In its November 9 verdict,
the apex court had
dismissed the appeal of
Nirmohi Akhara
against the 2010 Allahabad
HC judgment, delivered
in four civil
suits, that the 2.77-acre
land in Ayodhya be partitioned
equally among
the three parties -- the
Sunni Waqf Board, the
Nirmohi Akhara and
Ram Lalla. The top
court had directed that
a trust should be formed
within three months for
the construction of
temple at the site many
Hindus believe Lord
Ram was born and
asked the Centre to
grant representation in
the trust to Nirmohi
Akhara.
Maulana Syed Ashhad
Rashidi had sought
review of the verdict on
14 counts and said that
“complete justice”
could only be done by
directing reconstruction
of Babri Masjid.
He had also sought an
interim stay on operation
of the verdict in
which it had directed
the Centre that a trust
be formed within three
months for construction
of the temple at the site.
Akhil Bharat Hindu
Mahasabha moved the
court against the direction
to allot a five-acre
plot to Sunni Waqf
Board for building a
mosque in Ayodhya.
If BJP...
The Congress stalwart
also claimed
that no one is worried
about the basic facilities
in the nation and
the youth of the country
should raise their
voice against it.
“We will give them
(BJP) an answer in our
Bharat Bachao Rally on
December 14 at Delhi,
which has been organised
to save the democracy.
There is no clear
answer by the Central
Government on the issue
of black money. I
raised the issue of black
money in politics. I
have been believing
firmly for nearly two
decades that the money
that parties get to contest
election, that
should be used for
state-funding. They
have brought election
bonds, which is a major
scam. Gehlot said, adding
further on the issue
of ending Bhamashah
Card started by the BJP,
“The BJP does not even
know the issues on
which to stage a sit-in.
They do not have a
knowledge of the problems
of Rajasthan.”
Meanwhile, CM Gehlot
reached Jaipur
Bagh resort for giving
his blessings to Transport
Minister Pratap
Singh Khachariyawas’s
niece Chandresh Chundawat
who was married
to Jaipal Singh.
Though the marriage
was solemnized on
Wednesday, Gehlot
could not attend the
same as he was in Mumbai
and upon his return,
he reached and
blessed the couple.

Kamal Nath, urging him to restart a sugar mill
in Muraina district. In the letter, Scindia asked
the Chief Minister to fulfi l the Congress party’s
election promise of reviving the defunct sugar
mill in Kailaras town in the district. “People of
Muraina blessed us by electing us on all six
seats in the district in the Assembly polls. Now,
it is our duty that we take necessary steps for
reviving the mill,” he wrote.

IN-DEPTH
THE RAPE OF
INDIA’S SOUL
Rather than defend the rights of Kashmiri’s,
the SC has postponed hearings on pleas
I
njustice, discrimination, and violence
are hardly unheard of in India.
But today, they are being normalized,
enabled, and even encouraged
by the state, which is promoting
an aggressive form of Hindu nationalism
that looks increasingly like mob rule. India’s
diversity and complex civilizational legacy
are now under assault, and it is shaking the
very foundations of Indian democracy.
In August, PM Narendra Modi’s government
stripped J&K – India’s only Muslimmajority
territory – of its special status,
which had granted it considerable autonomy,
and split it into two “union territories” over
which the central government now wields
more direct control.
In order to stave off unrest, the government
deployed thousands more troops to
Jammu and Kashmir before announcing the
changes. It then placed prominent local politicians,
including former allies of the ruling
BJP, under house arrest; enforced a curfew
on residents; restricted movement into, out
of, and within the state; and imposed media
and telecoms blackouts.
Months later, most Kashmiris still lack Internet
access. Despite the blackout, sporadic
reports paint a dark picture of repression by
armed forces. Civilians have reportedly sustained
severe injuries from crowd-control tactics,
and thousands of locals – including children
as young as nine – are languishing in jails.
Yet, rather than defend the rights of Kashmiri
citizens, the SC has postponed hearings
on relevant pleas. As for the rest of India’s
population, they have largely ignored, accepted,
or applauded the assault on J&K.
ANOTHER HORROR UNFOLDS
In August, authorities released their jurisdiction’s
NRC, which excluded nearly two million
people who could not provide proof of their
names or parents’ names in the electoral rolls
before March 24, 1971 – an arbitrary date essentially
directed at identifying Muslim immigrants.
Many of these now-stateless people
have been sent to detention camps, where they
live in appalling conditions.
Betraying the project’s xenophobic aims,
its architect, Union Home Minister Amit
Shah, has called these people – many of
whom were born in Assam or whose families
have lived there for decades – “termites,” his
term for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. He
has also promised that the BJP government
“will pick up infiltrators one by one and
throw them into the Bay of Bengal.”
In this case, instead of pushing back, the
SC has actively instigated and aided the process.
It now watches as the BJP government
builds detention camps across the country, in
preparation for the program’s nationwide
implementation – a process that is likely to
be even more aggressively anti-Muslim.

JUSTICE
SHIV KUMAR SHARMA
Former Judge Rajasthan High
Court and Ex-Member of Law
Commission of India
bench of Supreme Court comprising
Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and
KM Joseph has fixed six months for
the central government to clear 100
odd names sent by the CJI-led collegium
for appointment as High Court
Judges.
The Bench noted that no time
limit has been prescribed for action
by the President and the PM under
the memorandum of procedure for
appointment of Judges in the Supreme
Court and High Courts
though time lines have been fixed by
other authorities involved in the
process.
As per the Memorandum of the
procedure, an appointment should’ve
initiated at least six months in advance
and thereafter six weeks’ time
is specified for the Governor or the
Chief Minister of the State concerned
to send the recommendation
to the Union Law Minister.
After the Supreme Court
Collegium clears the
names, the law ministry
has to put up the
recommendations to the
PM in three weeks who is
to then advise the
President
Thereafter a brief has to be drawn
forthwith and sent to the Supreme
Court Collegium in four weeks.
After the Supreme Court Collegium
clears the names, the law ministry
has to put up the recommendations
to the Prime Minister in three
weeks who is to then advise the
President.
The Bench said appointments
could be delayed if the government
sent back the names or when Supreme
Court and High Court collegium
may not be in agreement but
the names once approved by the collegium
should lead to the government
taking a decision without delay.
In the case where the recommendation
of the High Court collegium
meets the approval of the Supreme
Court collegium and the government,
their appointment at least
must take place within six months.
“This is not to say that in other cases
the process should not be completed
within six months,” the Bench said.
According to all India figures,
against a sanctioned strength of
1079 of the judges in the High Courts,
the working strength is only 669.
There are 410 vacancies and 213
recommendations are in process
with the government or Supreme
Court Collegium while names are
yet to be received from High Court
Collegium for 197 vacancies.
The Bench said it will confine its
proceedings on 213 names and
asked the Attorney General to provide
data as to when the process
was initiated.
Which Way for Europe on China?
R
ecognizing that
the European
Union is facing a
number of vexing
challenges
on the world stage, Ursula
von der Leyen, the new European
Commission president,
has promised to lead a
“geopolitical Commission.”
Echoing this sentiment, Josep
Borrell, the new High
Representative for Foreign
Affairs and Security Policy,
has challenged the EU to decide
whether it wants to be
a global “player,” or just a
“playground” for other powers.
So, which way will Europe
go?
Of all the challenges Europe
faces, few are as important
as forging a strategic
policy for managing its
relationship with China.
The stakes are enormous.
The EU is China’s largest
trade partner, and China is
the EU’s top trade partner
after the United States,
with bilateral trade exceeding
$1.1 billion per day.
Over the past few years,
the US has adopted an increasingly
aggressive approach
to China. In fact,
“confronting” China seems
to be one of the few things
that unite Americans politically
nowadays, even
though no single factor is
driving US policy. President
Donald Trump seems
primarily concerned with
the bilateral trade deficit,
whereas the US security
establishment worries
about China’s ongoing military
and technological development,
which could
eventually position it to
challenge US strategic supremacy.
No one doubts that China’s
rise poses a challenge
to individual countries and
the global balance of power.
A world in which the
The EU is China’s
largest trade
partner, and China
is the top trade
partner after the
US, with bilateral
trade exceeding
$1.1 bn per day
Chinese economy has
grown to twice the size of
the US economy will be a
very different place indeed,
even without accounting
for rising Chinese military
spending. It is understandable
that Americans are
worried about no longer
being the major global
power – a position they
have enjoyed since supplanting
the British Empire
over a century ago.
Nonetheless, how the US
intends to confront this
emerging new reality remains
unclear. Some seem
to believe decoupling with
China, and pressuring other
countries to do the same,
can frustrate the growth of
the Chinese economy, potentially
creating the conditions
for political or even
regime change. Others are
skeptical of this strategy,
and would prefer more narrowly
defined policies
geared toward changing
specific aspects of Chinese
domestic and foreign policy.
This approach is less
glamorous, but it is also
more traditional.
In any case, gut reactions
have so far been winning
out over careful deliberation,
and this will probably
remain true for some
time to come. The US wants
the EU to fall into line with
its position; but, other than
making that demand clear,
it has pursued almost no
strategic dialogue with Europe
on the issue.
Meanwhile, the debate
over China within the EU
has been heating up. China
may no longer have a Marxist
economy, but it certainly
still has a Leninist political
system. For good reason,
many Europeans are sensitive
to issues of human
rights in Hong Kong, Xinjiang,
and elsewhere. Europeans
are also rightly worried
about economic issues. As
the European Commission
warned earlier this year
(under its previous leadership),
China is “an economic
competitor in the pursuit
of technological leadership,
and a systemic rival promoting
alternative models of
governance.”

CAB Protests: ISL, Ranji games suspended in Guwahati due to curfew
New Delhi/Chennai:
Sporting activities took
a hit in the curfewstruck
city of Guwahati
where an Indian Super
League (ISL) football
game and a Ranji Trophy
cricket match were
suspended on Thursday
owing to the unrest over
the Citizenship (Amendment)
Bill.
Day four proceedings
of the Ranji match between
Assam and the
Services Sports Control
Board (SSCB) along
with the ISL clash between
NorthEast United
FC and Chennaiyin
FC were called off in
the Assamese city.
“The Ranji Trophy
match in Guwahati
stops at where it ended
on Day 3,” BCCI GM
Cricket Operations
Saba Karim told PTI.
“We have been advised
by the state association
not to go ahead
with the game. Players
and match officials
have been advised to remain
in the hotel. At
this stage, the safety of
the players and match
officials is paramount,”
he said.
The ISL game was
slated to be played at the
Indira Gandhi Athletics
Stadium in the city.
“Due to the ongoing
unrest in Guwahati,
match 37 between
NorthEast United FC
and Chennaiyin FC has
been postponed until
further notice,” the ISL
said in a statement on
Thursday.
“The league has been
in consultation with the

concerned authorities
over the past 48 hours to
determine the best
course of action. The
safety of fans, players
and league staff is of
paramount importance,
which has led to this decision,”
it added.
The Citizenship
(Amendment) Bill seeks
to provide Indian citizenship
to non-Muslim
migrants from Pakistan,
Bangladesh and
Afghanistan. It was
passed by Rajya Sabha
on Wednesday after being
cleared by Lok Sabha
on Monday.
Asked if the Ranji
game will be replayed
or the points will be
shared, Karim said, “As
the curfew has been imposed,
both teams (in
Assam) and match officials
have been advised
not to leave the hotel.
We follow whatever advice
we receive from the
host association.”
The match was headed
for an exciting finish
with Assam needing 168
runs for victory with
five wickets in hand.
Services had bounced
back strongly after being
bundled out for 129
in their first innings.
They dismissed Assam
for 162 in response
and scored 272 runs in
the second innings. In
their second essay, Assam
were 74 for five at
stumps on day three.
Earlier, the two ISL
teams did not train on
Wednesday and their
pre-match media interactions
were also called
off.
Guwahati, the epicentre
of anti-CAB protests,
was placed under
indefinite curfew on
Wednesday night while
the Army was called in

IPL 2020: Final auction list

Among the Indians,
Robin Uthappa has
the highest base price
of Rs 1.5 crore, while
Jaydev Unadkat --
who was the highest
buy for the last two
seasons -- has set himself
a base price of Rs
1 crore.
This being a relatively
smaller auction,
a total of 73 slots
will be filled by the
eight franchises, of
which 29 have to be
overseas players.

Glenn Maxwell -- who
took a break from

Home Minister Amit Shah arrives at the Parliament on Thursday.
Nagpur: RSS general

and described it
as a “courageous step”.
Joshi said all should

said the stand of the

India because of persecution
in another
country cannot be
termed as an intruder,
but a refugee.
The bill, which seeks
to provide Indian citizenship
to non-Muslim
refugees from Pakistan,
Afghanistan and Bangladesh,
was passed by
the Rajya Sabha on
Wednesday. Lok Sabha
passed it on Monday.
Joshi dubbed it as a
“courageous step”
and thanked the BJPled
central government,
the prime minister
and the Home
minister for taking
the initiative.
“When the country
was partitioned, there
was a demand for division
on religious
grounds. However, India
did not have any such
idea of forming a ‘religious
country’. But, the
country was partitioned
over this issue and the
leaders then had accepted
it,” he said. If partition
had not taken
place on religious
grounds, then many
incidents thereafter
would not have happened,
the RSS general
secretary said.
“Subsequently, Pakistan
and Bangladesh
declared themselves as
Islamic states and there
were doubts then about
what place the minorities
residing there will
get...because as per the
agreement, it was said
that the minorities will
not face any injustice,”
said Joshi. —PTI

Models of ‘Style Skool’
COLOURFUL
Kitsch-Kitsch
The team from Style Skool decided to experiment with the colours and

L
adies and gentlemen,
if you think
colours are loud
then attention
please as is getting
back to
trends which are
defined as art, object or design
which is excessively
outlandish, eccentric, even
garish and loud. Some people
who adored the aesthetics
of souvenir culture
thought kitsch was admirable,
while others considered
it as bad in taste. Later on, it
became a fashion trend that
was considered messy yet
fancy looking. Brands like
Moschino, Adidas and Versace
are few ‘Kitsch’
brands. Many times, they
used the trend ‘kitsch’ in
their collection.
We see nowadays,
Ranveer Singh, Miley
Cyrus, Alia Bhatt are
among the few celebrities,
who often
wear pieces that
make you stop and
look it twice with a
completely new expression
on your face. Some people
just fall head over heels with
the look and some people just
hate it, but either way, you can’t
ignore it.
Not many people try out kitsch
fashion, maybe because they
think it’s too risky and they will
make fool out of themselves? Or
just simply because they think it
is too much? Or maybe they
haven’t heard of it. Whatever
the case may be, a team from
Style Skool decided to experiment
with the colours and shot
on the theme to create a look that
is inspired by ‘Kitsch Fashion’.
It’s joyful, effervescent and
exuberant. Photographer Ankur
Nagwan said they have tried to
portray kitsch fashion in a way
that can be worn not only by celebrities
or models on the runway
but also by the masses who
love colours and try to experiment.
Stylist Akshima Singh
said, “We have used bright colours
and
bold
prints,
also
played
around
neon colours
and cheerful
eye makeup. All
the accessories and
footwear are lively as
well as vivid.”
The Style Skool models
Gehna Arora, Nakul
Saini, Riya Marwal, Ashutosh
Rana and Manushree
Sharma loved shooting for
the concept and enjoyed posing
in their colourful garments.
Manushree Sharma
quoted, “The look is supposed
to catch the eye and make
people look at you twice and if
you don’t mind standing out
then you should definitely try
the look.”

D
espite rumors of a reconciliation,
Khloé Kardashian
is not getting
back with Tristan
Thompson anytime soon.
The exes, who share
20-month-old daughter
True, split in February after
Thompson, 28, allegedly cheated
with Kardashian family friend
Jordyn Woods. But while the exes
have seemingly gotten along for
the sake of their child, a source
says that they haven’t rekindled
their romantic relationship.
“Tristan is very charming and
sweet to Khloé,” the source says.
“She always wanted to keep her
family together because of True.
Splitting from Tristan in the past
was extremely difficult for her.
She is flattered that he is trying to
win her back, but not flattered
enough to be in a romantic relationship
with him.”
“Who knows what will happen
in the future though,” the source
adds. “Right now she is focused
on just getting along with him so
they can have the best family time
together with True.”
Fans began to speculate on the
former couple’s possible reconciliation
after she revealed mix
feelings for Thompson when he
surprised her with several lavish
gifts for her 35th birthday on a
recent episode of Keeping Up
with the Kardashians
Ahead of her birthday, Kardashian
admitted that Thompson
had expressed his desire to get
back together.

TV GOSSIP...
RAHUL JAIN SINGS
‘BEYHADH 2’ TRACK
The title track of Jennifer Winget’s ongoing
TV show ‘Beyhadh 2’ is out. It is sung by
Rahul Jain, who
had also crooned the
title song of Jennifer’s
previous show “Bepannah”.
“After the huge
success of ‘Bepannah’,
which too had Jennifer
Winget, the team
approached to create
something which is
different and dark. It
was one of the most
challenging jobs as this
is not a usual title track.
After scrapping almost
6 songs , this is what I
came up with and once everyone heard it all were
super excited and happy. The song has pathos
in it , that’s why the arrangement is minimal
with violin , cello , bass and grand piano . Lyrics
by Vandana played the most crucial role , they
are too deep and goes with the character Maya
(played by Jennifer),” Rahul said. —IANS

“How much we focus on

Nickyanka to create a

Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick
Jonas will create a series inspired by
their own sangeet. Amazon Studios on
Thursday announced that it has greenlit
the Untitled Priyanka Chopra Jonas /
Nick Jonas Sangeet Project, an unscripted
dance competition series executive produced
by the couple.
“We re-watched the video of our sangeet

togetherness of our family and friends
during this event still sparks
the same warmth and excitement
that it did just
over a year ago at our

“The sangeet is a
centuries-old Indian

the actress added.
Looking back at his wedding
