The Setting
Lancashire is in the north west of England. It is bounded by Cumberland and
Westmorland in the north, Yorkshire in the East and Cheshire to the South and
the Irish Sea to the west. The Moss family or at least those parts of interest to
us lived in Stretford (lower left on map) and then Ashton under Lyne (mid
right).
