People are appreciated and their wishes
respected. Every effort is made to provide the
lifestyle residents want.
We recognise that each person is an individual
with their own preferences, interests and
personality, regardless of age or disability.
Each person who comes to stay at St Joseph’s
has a care plan that tells us how they want
us to help them achieve their aspirations,
reflect their interests and respond to their
daily living needs.
Care is thoughtfully planned with the people
we care for and those closest to them.
We welcome and encourage contributions
from family or friends, as this helps us to
understand our residents better.
We believe that by working together we are
more effective in looking after the people in
our care.
We also like to have a brief life story of those
who come to live at St Joseph’s; this helps us
to understand the important milestones
they’ve reached and the events that have
helped form the person they are today.
We offer respite placements to offer a break or
for the chance to see if St Joseph’s is the right
place for you or your loved one.
All staff are trained to understand the needs of people living
with dementia and to provide specialist care.
Nearly all of the people living at St Joseph’s
have, or may develop, a type of dementia.
All of our staff are trained in approaches that
enable them to care appropriately for
someone with dementia.
Understanding the needs of the person living
with dementia is crucial to their wellbeing.
We therefore ensure care is tailored to their
needs, according to how the dementia affects
them and to meet any specific requirements
they have.
We have two ‘memory lounges’ specially
designed and decorated to reawaken pleasant
memories of home.
Regular activities and events keep residents entertained,
active and stimulated.
All residents are welcome to take part in the
group and individual activities and social
events held at St Joseph’s and further afield.
Singers, dancers, exercise instructors, florists
and others all drop in to offer a stimulating
range of activities. Residents are welcome to
take part in any activities they choose and can
be supported to do so as needed.
Activities provided for people with dementia
often involve images, sounds and smells that
stimulate the senses and help rekindle
memories of times gone by.
We also have wheelchair-accessible vehicles
for trips out or to take people to
appointments.
Our purpose-built home in Coleshill is designed with
ease of movement in mind and is fully accessible.
Set in rural Warwickshire, St Joseph’s
Residential Home looks out over the Blythe
