It’s so easy to waste your time
at school, thinking we know
best when we are young.
Before you know, it’s been and
gone, and I was left with a small
handful of dodgy grades and
I thought a dodgy future. That
was me!
Then one day, this brochure
lands on my mat. Loads of
courses, all sorts of levels, and it
got me thinking. I always loved
writing as a kid, little poems
and stories, and I wondered if
there was anything here that
might be fun to try. I found
that my local centre not only
ran an English course but also a
class in Creative Writing. I went
along and had a chat with the
staff there and decided to give
both a go. One course to put
my English right and the
other to get my creative juices
going, as they say.
I’ve kept going after the basics.
I’ve taken an English GCSE
class and I’m really looking at
where this can take me.
