Our grandchildren are very happy pupils at this school. The teaching staff
know how to bring out the best in them. The children are able to take part
in a wide range of activities and the school is helping develop them into
thoughtful well rounded young people.

Riddlesworth Hall
Riddlesworth Hall was designed by architect
Thomas Leverton as a Georgian style three-storey
house in 1792 where it was acquired by Silvanus
Bevan III.
It later became the seat of the Compton-Thornhill
baronets, including Sir Thomas Thornhill, 1st
Baronet (1837-1900) and Sir Anthony John
Compton-Thornhill, 2nd Baronet (1868–1949).
The second baronet had no heirs and the hall was
converted for use as a school in 1946.
Riddlesworth Hall School was established as a
predominantly girls’ school but now caters to
both boys and girls aged 3 to 13.
During the years, Riddlesworth Hall has
nurtured and educated many children, with
notable former pupils including Diana, Princess
of Wales and world famous designer Lulu
Guinness.

We think Riddlesworth Hall is an idyllic Prep School where children are
given a wonderful environment to enjoy their childhood. They are given
a wide range of opportunities to develop their full potential (both in and
outside of the classroom) whilst maximising their self-belief and
confidence. Our experience there has shown that the Teachers approach
every child as an individual and Riddlesworth delivers a warmth and
security that allows and encourages them to develop their own talents and
personalities. It’s a happy and caring school where we believe our 2 boys
are getting a fantastic start to their education and they really could not be
happier!

It’s really important that Riddlesworth Hall
School feels right for you - but it’s equally
important that your child is right for
Riddlesworth Hall School.
We do not have any restrictive policies preventing
your childs acceptance but we do want to make
sure that we are the best possible fit for your
childs education. Where possible we aim to have
in depth discussions with parents and prospective
pupils before they start attending school at
Riddlesworth Hall.
We will also ask all potential students to take an
English exam so that we can benchmark their
abilities in advance of their attendance.
We have many years of experience catering for
international students from all corners of the
globe. We strive to make life for our international
students (and parents) as stress free as possible.
All full time boarders can contact home daily
should they wish. They have access to Skype and
telephones during their free time each evening
and after lunch each day to coincide with the
variety of times zones all over the world. Parents
of overseas boarders can enjoy following their
children’s activities through the school’s parent
resources system.
During Exeat weekends and half-terms, there is a
tradition at Riddlesworth Hall that full boarding
pupils stay with their ‘day pupil’ friends and their
families. This allows the boarders to enjoy a more
natural weekend with a friend’s family and engage
in a different cultural experience. During some
half-terms, there will also be the opportunity to
sign-up to our exchange programme and enjoy
the time at one of our sister schools in the UK or
Spain. Again this allows our boarders to engage
in different cultural experiences. Arrangements
can also always be made to allow the boarders
to remain at Riddlesworth Hall should this be
preferred.
At the beginning and end of term the school
makes arrangements for transporting the
boarders to Norwich Airport (35 minutes
away) with registered adults to ensure a smooth
transition to their homeward flight. Alternative
manned transfers to others airports are also
available.
