Learning TogetherPictured below: Puffins and Wren class (Reception) welcomed families to their phonics lessonand enjoyed showing their parents how to segment and blend words. Year 2 (Herons andMockingbirds) shared an SFA (Success for All) reading and phonics lesson with families. It waswonderful to see so many parents there.In the springterm we willhave morelearningtogethersessions. Alsolook out for ourparentworkshops inMaths, phonicsand readingand more.
Celebrating SuccessWe have introduced lots of ways to encourage children to make positivechoices and succeed in their learning this year. All children at WestfieldPrimary Academy know our School Promise and can earn component coins forupholding it, for example: showing kindness to others, being determined intheir learning. Each component coin represents the four teams of Water,Earth, Fire and Air.Once a child has earned enough componentcoins to reach various milestones they recievea certificate or a pin badge of bronze, silver orgold. All component coins awarded are addedtogether across the school for each team.Currently the points for Autumn term are:Water - 2919 Earth - 3275 Fire - 3189 Air - 2987Over 50 Golden Leafpostcards havebeen sent tochildren this term.Each week, a pupil is chosen by their teacher as Pupil of the Weekand their achievement is recognised at our Celebration Assembly,to which their parents are invited.Meet Webster our Westfield Wolf!Each week, the class with the best attendance gets to keep Websterin their class for the next week. We are working together as a schoolto achieve a target of 96% attendance across the school.This term we achieved95%. All 112 childrenwho had 100% inautumn were awardeda certificate. The classwith the bestattendance this termwas Skylark Class - Welldone Skylark!All pupils begin eachweek as a Positive Pip.As children challengethemselves, connecttheir learning or showexcellent learningattitudes they movethrough the learningladder towards theGolden Leaf. Those whoreach the Golden Leafget a special postcardhome from theheadteacher.A tidy space = a tidymind!To encourage our schoolto stay smart and cleanwe award the GoldenDustpan Award to theclass who is sparklingthe most!
