BTSSC NEWS LETTER | Issue 1 2

Dear Members and Friends,

Many ethnic groups in Brisbane have their own associations and social clubs, except

us, the Tamils. Thus, the primary reason behind the establishment of this club was that

we wanted to create an environment in which we could all unite and connect with other

like-minded and fun-loving members of the Brisbane Tamil community.

In particular the motive of this association is to focus on the relatable social elements

of the Tamil community and to further extend this opportunity to our youth enabling

them to pursue their own interests as well.

Some of the social activities and common interests include sporting such as golf,

walking, gym, badminton, tennis and ten-pin bowling, group outings to watch cricket

matches, cooking classes, picnics, group vacations and presentations by experts in

taxation, superannuation and retirement planning.

In addition to this, the Brisbane Tamil Social & Sports Club is able to provide venues

for various events from sporting to functions and discussions.

An extremely integral part of this social club is the representation of our younger, yet

valued members of our community. Our aim is to provide a platform for them to get

together, socialise, make the most of their youth.

There is beauty and power in unity, and that is what we are trying to achieve through

this club. We have lots of social activities planned for 2020.

Season’s Greetings and a Very Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year to All!

Thank you,

Dr Murali Rajaratnam

President – BTSSC Interim Committee
