Discussion Question #1

Why do you think this sandwich became so popular? What factors of production come into play

here? Did the social environment play into the success of this product? Explain why or why not?

If you were the CEO of one of Popeye’s competitors (Wendy’s McDonald’s, KFC, Chick-Fil-A,

etc.) what would you do? What part did social media play in the sandwich’s success? Do you

think the sandwich will continue to be successful? Why or why not

I feel like the sandwich became a lot more popular than it was intended to be because of

social media , various social media platforms promoted the beef with the main two competitors

Popeyes and Chick-Fil-A by making memes, comedy skits and etc making the chicken

sandwiches more popular to the point celebrities and rappers were posting about which food

restaurant had the best chicken sandwich. If I was a CEO of one of Popeyes competitors I would

have promoted the sandwich through all sorts of social media such as Youtube Videos , Youtube

Ads , Facebook and Instagram posts and ads also there would have been a giveaway I’ll make

the competition more exciting for customers that will make them want to shop from my

restaurant. I feel like there would be a fifty fifty percent chance that the chicken sandwich will be

back because maybe everyone will be rushing again and trying more to try out the chicken

sandwich because a large majority of them never tried out the chicken sandwich and was still

yearning to try one, while on the other hand customers might just not be interested in the

sandwiches anymore and in result of that competition and the hype will start to decrease. I feel

like the chicken sandwiches will still sell but not as much as it did when the competition was on

and going.
