vor 64 Jahren erfand mein Großvater, der Apotheker Hermann Holtz, im Labor 

seiner Apotheke in Wiesbaden die erste magnetische Planungstafel. Er revolutionierte

der ganzen Welt.

64 years ago, my grandfather, the pharmacist Hermann Holtz, invented the first 

magnetic planning board in the laboratory of his pharmacy in Wiesbaden, revolutionising 

visual communication and planning in offices and factories throughout 

the world. 

As the world’s first and oldest brand for magnetic, visual communication solutions, 

we are delighted to be able to present our 2020 innovations to you, which 

impressively underline our position as market leaders in the area of design and 

innovation even in the 64th year of our company’s history. 

In our magnetoplan ® DESIGN CATALOGUE, we are presenting the latest 

magnetoplan ® product innovations of 2020, all of which were developed with 

the goal of promoting agile working methods and teamwork in modern offices. 

When developing the new products, we focused particularly on a modern and 

aesthetic design that blends perfectly into a modern interior design and office 

architecture – in addition to the function and quality of the products. Products 

that support you with your daily work, are multifunctional in their use and have 

also have an attractive look and feel. A product portfolio that has won top design 

awards even before its launch.

Gute Werkzeuge schenken dir die Freude am 

Arbeiten. Und sie steigern deine Glaubwürdigkeit. 

Jede Kunst hat ihre eigenen Methoden und Werkzeuge, die ihren 

Kunsthandwerkern helfen, ausgezeichnete Werke zu erschaffen 

und abzuliefern. Eine sehr gute Idee ist das Eine. Aber es braucht 

eben auch die Mittel, um diese auszudrücken und zu formen. 

Lehrer, Speaker oder Moderatoren sind ein Stück weit Künstler 

und somit Menschen, die auf einer Bühne stehen und von dort aus 

Botschaften senden und Informationen empfangen. Diese führen 

sie gekonnt an einem Mittelpunkt zusammen, ordnen diese und 

machen sie übersichtlich wieder zugänglich. Das ist, wenn es gut 

gemacht ist, eine Kunst. 

Und hierzu brauchen diese Künstler sehr gute Werkzeuge. Solche 

Werkzeuge sind Attribute, die ihre Aktualität und Professionalität 

maßgeblich unterstreichen und ihre Glaubwürdigkeit fördern.

Every art has its own methods and tools that help its artisans to 

create and deliver excellent works. A very good idea is one thing, 

but you also need the instruments to express and shape it. 

Teachers, speakers or presenters are, to some extent, artists. 

They are people who stand on a stage and convey and receive 

information from there. They skilfully bring this information together 

around a central point, put it in order and make it accessible in a 

clear manner. If this is well done, it is an art. 

And these artists need very good tools for this. Such tools are 

attributes that decisively underline their topicality and professionalism 

and promote their credibility.

In the design + production of the Infinity Wall, we took care to only use the best 

and sustainable materials: e.g. an environmentally friendly e3 Ceramic Steel, which 

is 99.9 % recyclable, was used for the recycled, enamelled surfaces. In addition to 

the ecological aspects, it provides a high level of comfort: the writing surfaces are 

particularly smooth and can be cleaned without leaving a trace. A perfect colour 

contrast improves legibility and protects your eyes from tiredness. The white, 

high-gloss surfaces are sealed with protection against scratches, bacteria and 

even chemicals so that you can enjoy your Infinity Wall for many years.

„Die Kooperation mit magnetoplan ® war zunächst eine 

Rückkehr. Eine geografische, die mich für kurze Zeit wieder 

von Auckland/Neuseeland, wo ich als Dozent einer Designschule 

tätig bin, nach Deutschland zurückbrachte. Und eine 

kreative: evolution plus führte mich zu meinen Anfängen 

als Gestalter zurück. 

Ich bin mehr oder weniger mit der Produktion und Entwicklung 

von Moderationstafeln und Flipcharts aufgewachsen. 

Die ersten Sommerjobs hatte ich in der Metallproduktion 

des väterlichen Unternehmens. Später, während meines 

Studiums der Produktgestaltung, wurde ich auch in die Entwicklung 

dieser Produkte und Objektmöbel eingebunden. 

Das Redesign für magnetoplan ® nahm sich anfänglich eher 

als unspektakuläre Aufgabe aus. Sehr bald zeigte sich aber, 

dass weniger laute Design-Statements als ein wohlüberlegter 

und rücksichtsvoller Umgang mit der gut etablierten 

Marke gefragt waren. 

Die Finesse von evolution plus lag von Anfang bis Ende in 

ausgereiften Details, die sich zu einem schlüssigen Markenbild 

verdichten und die Marke in die Zukunft führen. Eine 

nicht zu unterschätzende Aufgabe, die sich zu einer fruchtbaren 

und erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit entwickelte.”

New Zealand, where I work as a lecturer in a design school, 

to Germany for a short time. And a creative one: evolution 

plus took me back to my beginnings as a designer.

Later, whilst studying Product Design. I was also involved 

in the development of these products and functional

unspectacular task. However, it very soon became apparent 

that what was required was not loud design statements but 

well-considered and thoughtful handling of the well-established 

brand. 

The finesse of evolution plus was found, from start to 

finish, in sophisticated etails that can be consolidated into 

coherent brand image and take the brand into the future. 

A task that should not be underestimated and which developed 

into a fruitful and successful cooperation.“
