Educating Rita
When married hairdresser Rita enrols on a
university course to expand her horizons,
little does she realise where the journey will
take her.
Her tutor Frank is a frustrated poet, brilliant
academic and dedicated drunk who’s less
than enthusiastic about taking Rita on but
when these two people come together they
soon realise how much they have to teach
each other.
This hilarious and heart-warming comedy won
the Olivier Award when it was first produced
by the RSC and was adapted into the multi
award-winning film which starred Julie Walters
and Michael Caine.
Written by one of our greatest ever
playwrights Willy Russell, Educating Rita
stars one of our best loved actors Stephen
Tompkinson as Frank and introduces Jessica
Johnson as Rita. This production directed by
Max Roberts of Live Theatre has garnered
rave reviews.

Cosi Fan Tutte
A rehearsed reading of a new play by David
Butler.
Two sisters and their male partners attend a
performance of Mozart’s famous opera. But
how, they ask, can such divine music coexist
with this partner-swapping narrative,
more Updike than Mozart? With the help of
an American scholar, Lady, they examine
the opera.
Composer Mozart and Librettist Da Ponte
appear on stage to help the show along.
But then the opera grabs both couples by
the throat, turning their careers and their
love lives upside down and inside out. The
play closes with the same questions as the
opera. Who ends up with who? And why?

Guildford Jazzfest
Guildford Jazzfest 20 is a whole weekend
of music from leading UK jazz, latin and
funk artists plus a Gala concert featuring
internationally renowned artist Iain Ballamy,
a Surrey Young Jazz Musicians of the Year

live music accompaniment, plus brunches,

Giant Houseplant Takeover
Step into a house reclaimed by its plants
long after its human inhabitants have
left. Visitors to RHS Garden Wisley’s
Glasshouse will find a banana plant has
pushed through the roof, carnivorous
plants feasting in the dining room and cacti
playing chess. You may also spot a few
plants have grown rather too large and now
tower over their relatives.
