The 14th Sessionof theCommittee - UNESCOstarted officiallyThe president of EAFF - European Association of Folklore Festivals,Mr Kaloyan Niklov is part of this year’s meeting of the IntergovernmentalCommittee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage from9th till 14th of December in Bogota, Colombia.Within 6 days, twenty four members of the Intergovernmental Committeewill make balance of recent developments in the 2003 Convention.They should take important decisions for its implementation.The Committee will consider guidelines on how to protect the livingheritage in emergencies in the best possible way and will continue toconsider how to improve the involvement of non-governmental organizationsin the implementation of the Convention.In addition, members of the Committee will examine the status of theelements listed on the Emergency List and the use of international assistanceprovided to States to support their efforts to safeguard the livingheritage.The Committee will also discuss elements for inclusion in the Convention’slists. The status of six elements for inclusion in the List of IntangibleCultural Heritage in Need of Emergency Protection and forty twoelements in the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage ofHumanity will be examined, as well as three selection proposals in theRegister of Good Conservation Practices.Three requests for international assistance will also be submitted tothe Committee.The EAFF’s President is part of the working group on the subject“Information and Communication Technologies”and will be presenting a10-minute lecture on “Multimedia channels and holders of intangible culturalheritage in the world” at the ICH NGO Forum.The ICH NGO Forum will hold an election to the Steering Committeeon December 11, 2019, in which Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov is nominated as amember of the Committee for the Eastern Europe.18
The XII edition ofInterfolk in Russia wasattended by 900 performersfrom 12 countries900 performers took part in the XII InternationalFolklore Festival “INTERFOLK inRussia” from 14th till 17th of November 2019.Saint Petersburg was host of folklore groupsfor authentic folklore, vocal groups for processedfolklore, mixed, dance and instrumentalensembles and orchestras from Belarus, Bulgaria,France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Latvia,Portugal, USA, Turkey, Sri Lanka and Estonia.Festival encouraged the intercultural dialoguein the field of folklore art gatheringgroups and ensembles in Saint Petersburgfrom all over the world.19
