31HE EXPLAIN IN HIS OWN WORDS………...The one thing that keeps me going is, I'm not afraid to innovate andinitiate on any new ideas that make sense, like when I started thismagazine me and my woman that I know for thirty years living in a onebedroom rental and only have one fish one tin of milk two pounds ofcorn meal, left as food and I don't know where the next meal comingfrom, she has just lost her telemarketing job so I had to carry all the burdenthat comes with your other half not working. This was no problem cause your woman is your responsibility, but whatshook me most is the graphics skills I developed. Because she was notworking and I needed to save money, I took on a new skill. I had alwaysoutsourced my graphics jobs that I got from my customers. This time, Ihad to learn how I can keep the funds in house.By this, jobs from my customers slowed down. I sat in my office waitingto get a call from any client in regards to a poster aflyer...something. I remembered an idea that I had about creating amagazine to report on black owned businesses worldwide and blackentrepreneurs. I chose a picture of Burning Spear and created a frontpage. I remember I took it to her and very proudly showed her. Shelook at it looked at me and said “you are all over the place you need togo get a job! “What the hell is this foolishness? you need to go get ajob!!!”I laughed and excused myself from the room, because she just insultedme without even knowing. I have not being employed for over thirtyyears. Why do you think its time for me to do that and give up my freedom.I laughed my ass off all the way to my office. As soon as I sat down at my desk , I heard a knock . I quickly answeredcome in, and it was Mr. Nigel Reid from next door. “Say Mr. Guzigar,I would like some graphics done.” While he was showing me what hewanted, his eyes caught the cover on my desk of B.O.B Magazine.Nigel then shouted at me, “who is this? I know him!” I replied, “it’s SirWinston Rodney a.k.a. the Burning Spear. “What's this for?” he asked.I told him that I'm producing a magazine called Bob, coming out nextmonth. He then stated, “I need a quarter page. How much? I said $40. Nigelsaid, “how much is a half page?” I stated, “$60”. He finally asked, “howmuch is a full page?” And I said, “$100 early bird special.” Nigelquickly exclaimed, “give me a full page!” He then left to his office andimmediately returned with a $100 bill.I couldn't wait for him, to get out so I could bring the $100 I just receivedfrom him, to my woman. She obviously didn't believe in myinitiative. I quickly ran to my old car, went straight home, handed herthe hundred and said now you can go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart.She said, “what you did?” I said, “B.O.B Magazine is born.” Shesmiled, not victorious, but like wow. I observed that because she is thekind of woman who likes to be right all the time, if she was wrong, shewill sabotage the idea just to say she was right. She helped with the editing for a while and I would go on with the layoutand story, until she wondered off in life to do her. Now I’m hereworking on my next Album at the Hit Factory studios in Miami. Thething is you must always have a goal to accomplish and you will findinner peace and happiness while reaching for them.. 31EVEN WHEN NO ONE BELIEVES IN YOU, BELIEVE IN YOUR-SELF...DISPITE WHAT THEY PUT YOU THROUGH
