NGO “Young Roma”
The NGO Young Roma was established in May 2005. Our vision is equal, educated and active Roma
citizens in the society. Through its dedicated work, this, back in 2006 small, local organization “Young
Roma”, has grown into a credible partner of both national and local institutions, as well as international
organizations in the fields of youth empowerment, training and education, merit-based
scholarship provision and internship placement for young Roma, gender equality, etc.
The aim of “Young Roma” is:
• to facilitate transition of Roma secondary
school students towards tertiary education
through merit-based scholarship and
mentoring and tutoring programme
• to provide secondary school Roma students
with professional school / courses and lifecoaching
to increase their employability
• direct beneficiaries are up to 50 secondary
school students

Medina Ferizi is a 4th
grader at a high school in
Nikšić. She was a beneficiary
of the Mentorship programme
of “Young Roma”under the
EU-funded project.
In addition, Medina performed
a project-based internship at
the local office of the Labor
Bureau in Nikšić.
Jasmin Beriša has graduated
from the secondary school
“Ivan Goran Kovačić” in
Herceg Novi, Montenegro.
He is a beneficiary of “Young
Roma” under the EU-funded
project - during the summer
season he did an internship
as a waiter at the restaurant
“Konoba” in Herceg Novi.
After the summer practice,
Jasmin continued to work in
the restaurant as a full-time
employee.
