What are LEx GlobalCircles? 

We all share three realities: 

• We all live somewhere we call home. 

• We all share a passion (often more than one). 

• And we all share the same future. 

With LEx LocalCircles, we provide the instruments to impact the breadth, scale and scope 

our communities – where we live. 

With LEx GlobalCircles (GCs), we provide the scaffolding to nurture and leverage our 

passions in 15 spheres-of-impact that in turn define the human experience. 

Together, they are the means through which we will assure that the LEx Tenets prevail. 


What are the 15 spheres-of-impact?

Arts & Culture 

There are those amongst us who seek to 

illustrate, challenge and in the process, shape 

the human narrative. These people are by their 

nature leaders - in their sharing and 

provocation willing to risk all and change the 

world. Are you one of these? 


Business & 

Social Economy 

Today the wealth of the poorest half of the world's population is equal to that 

of the richest 62 individuals, down from 388 as recently as 2010. And over 800 

million jobs may be lost over the next 12 years to the pervasive adoption of AI 

and robotics technologies. These sobering realities have proven fertile ground 

for the rise of populist fortunes around the world. 


Entertainment 

& Sports 

Be it the censure of best-selling rapper Drakes’ behaviour at NBA games, the 

NFL’s Colin Kaepernick bending the knee in protest of systemic racism, Alyssa 

Milano’s popularization of the #MeToo hashtag or Coldplay’s Chris Martin 

donating 10% of his annual income to charity, the power of celebrity has never 

been greater or more impactful – for good and for bad. 


Governance & 

Public Policy 

From neighbourhood activists to municipal, regional and federal politicians to 

the leaders of transnational actors, it is increasingly clear that a new cohort of 

political leaders needs to be connected, empowered and then mobilized that 

is powerful enough to define and provide leadership and leadership solutions 

consistent with the LEx Tenets. 


Health & Wellness 

Whether the challenge is to make access to 

healthcare more equitable, to explore options 

to evidence-based medicine, or to manage the 

inevitable augmentation of man with machine, 

there has never been a greater need for 

enlightened, thoughtful leadership. 


Human 

Development 

There is a space between faith, culture, ideology and the ubiquitous striving to 

be ones impossible best that is being defined by exponential advances in 

science and technology and the new realms they make possible. The very 

definition of what it means to be Human is now open to question. How then 

do we make sense of the reality we face today, and the unknown that we 

know we will face tomorrow?

News Media 

FAKE NEWS! THE REAL ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! These are phrases that have 

recently joined the lexicon in too many countries. They reflect in part the 

diminishing of the contract between the Fifth Estate and the citizenry. In the 

age in which social media is ascendant, it very clearly has reframed that 

contract with profound consequences – almost certainly determining the 

material outcome of elections around the world. 


Law & 

Social Justice 

Few if any social-impact organizations are focused on addressing the rootcause 

that creates the context for their need – an insufficiency of leadership 

that is systemic and global. Imagine the power of harnessing the aggregate 

potential of these organizations and their leaders to reframe and empower 

their relationship with lawmakers and other key stakeholders.

Coaching 

On Amazon.com there are today over 60,000 titles on leadership, over 60,000 

on self-improvement and over 40,000 on coaching (life, performance, 

executive etc.) – with something like 4 new additions every hour. It follows 

that with so many contributions, so many ‘3, 5 and 10 step programs to 

success, wealth, fame and fortune’ that there is no single answer or approach 

to finding and realizing our full potential.

Education 

In this Age of Abundance, exponential advances of technology are today 

transforming the process and structure of education, while the societies they 

are empowering are themselves being remade – from preparing youth for a 

world of ‘fake news’ and MOOCs to preparing workers for the inevitable job 

losses brought about by the disruptive adoption of AI and robotics. 


National 

Security & 

Public Safety 

Humanity remains existentially challenged by violence and insecurity – from 

the threat of nuclear Armageddon to the insidious evil implicit in China’s Social 

Credit program. And though not existential threats, terrorism, regional conflict 

and domestic violence combine to provide fertile ground for the mis-use of 

technologies such as AI, robotics and miniaturization.

Responsibility 

“We live in an Age of Abundance”. This is how the first of our Core 

Values starts. Through the long march of human progress and the 

evolution of civil society, there has simply not been enough resource – 

money, food, water, infrastructure – to go around. At the beginning of 

this century that changed. With new technologies and the 

unprecedented accumulation of post-war wealth, we can address 

virtually every want or need. Which means that It is human factors, 

not scarcity that constrain us. What then, In this new Age of 

Abundance, is the role of the citizen, the corporation and the 

charity/non-profit organization? 


Science & 

Technology 

Ray Kurzweil’s Law of Accelerating Returns posits that exponential advances in 

science and technology are reshaping the context for human potential in 

literally unimagined ways, enabling for the first time in human history, 

solutions to the most intractable of issues – all in the next 20 years. But are we 

up to the challenge of leveraging these awesome advances for good? 


Spirituality & 

Religion 

There are no existential issues being addressed by humanity that are not 

powerfully impacted - even determined - by one's faith, be it in a deity or in 

man. Indeed, technology will continue to push the limits of what it means to 

be human, inevitably reframing ones relationship to his or her creator.

Energy 

Disruption 

Since John Sawyer published Man-made Carbon Dioxide and the 

“Greenhouse” Effect in 1972, the reality of climate change has been 

accepted science for decades and has for some time been described as 

a crisis of existential propositions. But now, 11,000 scientists from 153 

countries have just warned of a ‘climate emergency’ that threatens the life 

of every living creature alive today. From biodiversity to energy disruption, 

there is no greater need for enlightened leadership - within the sphere of 

impact, but also in all of the intersectionalities that exist without. 


What do LEx GlobalCircles do? 

LEx GlobalCircles (GCs) are peer-support communities where each member is as 

committed to the personal, professional and passion development and elevation of 

their peers, as their peers will be to them. 

Thus empowered, each GC is charged with the responsibility to mobilize, define and 

execute MISSIONS that will impact and TRANSFORM their sphere-of-impact. 

They reside on the LEx HUB with their own dedicated space – the GC HUB. 


Why are GlobalCircles important? 

• Each GlobalCircle is the face of LEx – to its members, to prospective members, and to 

each sector. The example it sets should inspire others. 

• It is the human glue that will drive member growth, mobilization and impact 

• It is the organism through which the culture of LEx is incubated, nurtured and shared 

globally 

• It is a COMMUNITY that will endure and strengthen over years, not a series of EVENTS. 

• It is the vehicle to enable community transformation that is consistent with LEx Tenets.

Organizing Meeting 

• Minimum of five members required 

• Confirm the volunteer Host, Co-Host and GC Animator (together, the GC 

Secretariat) 

• Begin rapid recruitment of new GC members by engaging with existing LEx 

members and recruiting new members to LEx.

Mapping the SubCircles 

• First exercise following the Organizing Meeting 

• GC SubCircles (SC’s) will represent the many sub-communities that will exist within - and therefore define and 

frame each GC. SC’s may be branded or themed. Branded SubCircles will be offered by the GC Secretariat to 

any qualifying entity whose mandate is aligned with the LEx Tenets – companies, NGO’s, social enterprises etc. 

Themed SubCircles are created by the GC Secretariat to address specific areas of interest. 

• The new GC is encouraged to undertake a structured mind-mapping exercise as early as possible, imaging all of 

the possible SC’s that might exist within the GC in five or ten years. This process will allow all founding members 

to frame the scale, scope and breadth of the GC in their minds – and make the next steps easier and more 

productive.

Setting the Moonshot 

• Minimum of 25 GC members 

• Define a moonshot consistent with the LEx Moonshot of “one million LEx members in position 

of influence, power and impact by 2030: from the classroom, to the boardroom to the 

legislature” 

• The Moonshot ideation and development exercise should be based on the SubCircle mapping 

exercise noted previously.

Recruiting Thought Leader in Residence (TLiR) 

• Minimum of 50 GC Members 

• Based on the SubCircle mapping exercise and the Moonshot, start a community engagement/mind 

mapping exercise to imagine – and then recruit a Thought Leader in Residence (TLiR) 

• The TLiR should be globally recognized subject matter expert with whom the LEx Tenets strongly 

resonate. 

• Over time, the TLiR will provide strategic direction and oversight to growth and development of the 

GC and will in the aggregate form the LEx Leaders Council.

Setting the 1st Mission 

• Minimum of 100 members 

• Work with TLiR to determine the 1 st GC Mission 

• Missions will be of three different types of projects: 

• Support a LEx member in their initiatives, strategically aligned with the GC Moonshot 

• Support 3 rd party initiatives aligned with GC Moonshot 

• Developing LEx initiatives

LEx GlobalCircle Roles 


LEx GlobalCircle Host 

The LEx GlobalCircle Host (and Co-Host) is a LEx member prepared to leverage their senior-level subject 

matter-expertise to manage the growth and development of a dedicated sub-community within LEx that has the 

capacity to materially impact leadership practices, narratives and cultures within their sphere-of-impact. 

• Responsible for the growth, development and successful operations of their LEx GlobalCircle (GC) 

• Direct and manage the promotion of membership growth in their GC, in turn driving overall LEx membership 

• Direct and manage the development of GC programs that will engage members, promote membership growth 

and further the objectives of their GC 

• Direct and manage the development of the Missions that will be the instruments of impact in their GC 

• GC Hosts and Co-Hosts will be members of a dedicated closed community hosted by LEx Centre so that 

tools, best practices and peer support can be shared. 


LEx GlobalCircle Animator 

• The engagement of all GC members on the LEx HUB is a critical success 

factor. Online community engagement is always a challenge that requires 

persistent, patient and substantive effort. 

• The Circle Animator is responsible for using all of the features of their GC 

HUB to engage existing and new members, as best as they can 

• Circle Animators will be members of a dedicated closed community hosted 

by LEx Centre so that tools, best practices and peer support can be shared. 


Thought Leader in Residence (TLiR) 

• Responsible for leveraging their expertise, resources and personal brand to provide strategic direction 

for the growth and development of a dedicated sub-community within LEx that has the capacity to 

materially impact leadership practices, narratives and cultures within their sphere-of-impact. 

• Provide strategic direction and oversight to the growth and development of their LEx GlobalCircle 

• Enhance Leaders Expedition’s public image 

• Help to identify personal connections that can benefit Leaders Expedition’s fundraising and reputational 

standing, and can influence public policy 

• Work with the GC Secretariat to develop the programs and activities that will engage members, promote 

membership growth and further the objectives of their GC 

• Work with the GC Secretariat to develop and manage the Missions that will be the instruments of 

impact in their GC 


All GC members 

• Be an exemplar of, and be committed to, the Vision, Mission, Charter, Core Values and 

Membership Pledge of Leaders Expedition 

• Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for Leaders Expedition 

• Leverage their connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve 

The Leaders Expedition’s objectives in general, and in their sphere-of-impact specifically 

• Be an active participant in, and contributor to, the online LEx GC Circle
