Thepresenter discusses the historical context of these songs, interspersing theirstories with tunes from Ireland that made their way into New England’smusical repertoire, played on his fiddle or guitar.Bringing fresh energy to Celtic music, Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki is anaward-winning fiddler/singer who grew up playing dances and folk festivalsaround New England. He has toured nationally with bands in variousgenres, performed across Ireland, and released multiple recordings of Celticmusic that can be heard on radio stations around New England and in theBritish Isles. JohnEsposito, who built a similar trashtransfer station for New York City,predicted the town would becomeknown as “the drop off center forNew England.”The town’s Zoning Board ofAppeals has already issued a specialpermit for the transfer station, butis waiting for the Planning Board’sdecision to decide if it will approvethe facility so close to the town’swater resource district. But for Eatonit is only the beginning. “I’m notstopping. This is a multi-yearproject,” she said.“One of the things that I love is Iwill be going for a walk and peoplewill be pointing at Abbie’s house,and they will ask me if I know thestory,” she wrote in an email. “I’llbe interested if that happens withthe map, if people are stopping andtalking about a house or an area andretelling the story.”“That would be fun,” she wrote.“I hope so.”If interested in sharing yourstories about Newburyport’s homesand streets, Eaton would love tohear them.Battle Over Regional Trash Facility RenewedFebruary 27 th 4-8pmBoard of Health, Cashell said.Mello is buying a 14.6-acre sitefrom the East-West Mirra Corp.for the proposed transfer facility.The plan is for Mello to purchaseland for its new facility rather thancontinuing to lease land from thetown.The land, which has long been forsale, is owned by the Mirra familycorporation. State Rep. Lenny Mirra,who represents Georgetown amongother towns in the legislature, is amember of the same family, but hassaid he has no ownership position inthe real estate.The company currently operates a50-ton transfer station, leasing 2 acresfrom the town for $40,000 a year.That facility no longer complies withstate Department of EnvironmentalProtection rules, which requiretransfer stations to be enclosed toreduce pollution, litter, dust andnoise. An enclosed facility can alsobe equipped with fire suppressionequipment.To pay for the new facility itpredicts will be “state-of-the-art,”Mello proposed to build a largerstation.
