traditional camps promote

games, craft projects, indoor
swimming, fun field
trips, weekly themes,
weekly all camp events
and camper’s choice activities.
With over 40 camp
programs to choose from,
one is sure to fit your family.

New this year is Y Camp
Director, Ricky Gonzalez
who joins the Y after
working as a Camp Director
with the Evanston Recreation
Department for 14
years.
“For my first summer
at NSYMCA, I am most
excited to get to know and
work with all the families
and campers in the community,”
Gonzalez said. “I
am also looking forward to
introducing everyone to a
wider variety of games and
activities, new specialty
camps, theme days and
events, as well as helping
to make our Y camps the
safest and most fun they
have ever been.”
What sets the Y camps
apart and truly makes them
special is that the YMCA
is a charitable non-profit
organization. While camp
is all about having fun,
the camp community also
embraces helping others.
Many of the campers are
involved in a wide variety
of weekly scheduled
service projects all over
the community that are
embraced with incredible
enthusiasm and kindness.
The Y is a community that
is inclusive, supportive,
and celebrates diversity.
NSYMCA camps offer
unparalleled flexibility
and value that appeals
to parents. Campers can
sign up for sessions by
the week, accommodating
family schedules and allowing
children to explore
a variety of programs. The
Y offers half-day and fullday
camps, three, four or
five-day options, beforeand
after-camp childcare
and transportation
from Northbrook summer
schools for afternoon
camps. Children with special
needs are welcomed
in camp programs with
support and adaptations
provided by experienced
Y staff members. All these
options create a customized
experience to fit any
family’s situation.
