DAWN OF A NEW
ASEAN AGE
EXPERIENCE AN UNPRECEDENTED
ERA OF GROWTH IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

SPARKS OF INNOVATION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
PHILIPPINES
With about 70,000 doctors serving 100 million people, a cloud-based platform called
Medifi Medtech Solutions improves healthcare by digitally connecting doctors to
patients wherever they are via video consultations, messaging and medical imaging.
These are just two stories of innovation from Southeast Asia.
VIETNAM
To help over 450,000 fish and shrimp
pond farmers who were mostly isolated
and did manual work, online platform
Tep Bac Co. was set up in 2013 to
enable farmers to learn from experts,
share aqua-cultural knowledge and
view pond data collected from Internetof-Things-enabled
hardware devices.
Fueled by desire for a better future, the economic region with its large, literate and dynamic
young population of over 640 million people is well on its way to becoming the 4th largest global
economy by 2050.
“It’s been years since we had a
show like this, and it is really
what the industry needs. I
saw many new products and
technologies.”
- Visitor Liaw Kee Lim, the
Managing Director of Acoustic
Calibration Service.
FORGING GLOBAL CONNECTIONS
FOR A “SUPER” ECONOMY
Leading the economic charge is the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a regional intergovernmental
organization comprising ten countries
in Southeast Asia. It promotes inter-governmental
cooperation and facilitates economic, political, security,
military, educational, and sociocultural integration
among its members and other countries in Asia.
The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) was formed
in 2015 to develop a single market and potentially lift
Southeast Asia’s economic output by 7 percent by 2025.
ASEAN is also forging ties with six Asia-Pacific states
– including China and India – to create a Regional
Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
Southeast Asian
economies are moving
up in competitiveness
rankings
RCEP
The RCEP “super economy”
will cover 30 percent of
global trade and 48 percent
of the world’s population
GROWING STEADILY AMIDST TURMOIL
Amidst global economic turmoil, Southeast
Asia’s economies are standing strong.
In Swiss business school IMD’s (International
Institute for Management Development) World
Competitiveness Rankings 2019, five Southeast
Asian countries – Singapore, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines – either
retained their spots or jumped ahead.
Even with the Sino-US trade war, ASEAN
countries stand to gain as both US and Chinese
firms shift production bases to ASEAN states to
escape tariffs.

INFOCOMM SOUTHEAST ASIA – A WINNING START
While event organizer InfoCommAsia has run numerous Pro-AV trade shows in Asia, InfoComm Southeast Asia 2019 was the first time
it had held the event for a Southeast Asian audience, attracting visitors from all around the region and beyond.
The Exhibition
Over 150 exhibitors showcased their products and solutions to
a diverse range of visitors. Many visitors were decision-makers
and influencers on the lookout for new supplies.
Many were also keen to adopt the technologies they saw,
which included the latest advances in smart digital displays,
virtual and augmented reality simulations, 3D simulations,
collaborative conferencing, command and control systems and
devices to create multi-sensory experiences.
“The show is very successful
and we had many visitors.
I met professionals from
Cambodia, Malaysia,
Indonesia, Hong Kong and
Korea. Through the show,
we found new partners who
can help us integrate our
solutions.”
- Giuseppe Zaccaria of Wey
Technology, exhibitor
Southeast Asia’s digital economy – a collective
term for all economic transactions that occur
online – will be expanding together with
economic growth.
Many developing ASEAN economies are also
leap-frogging old models. For instance, moving
straight from dollars to mobile payments
(skipping credit cards).
This spirit of entrepreneurship, thirst for
innovation and embracing of new technologies
is powering an unprecedented era of growth in
Southeast Asia.
The Summit
Comprising industry conferences, technology conferences and technical
seminars, experts with global experience in a wide array of Pro-AV solutions
shed insights on the latest developments in the Pro-AV world, addressed AV
applications to specific industries and honed in on specific technologies.
The Summit also featured Tech Tours where participants visited actual installed
sites in Bangkok to study how AV solutions are effectively deployed in real-life
settings.
