CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
JOWDY WORLD KNOWLEDGE CHALLENGE
This year’s program celebrated 30 years of the Library’s
tradition of hosting the annual challenge between
middle schools. Honoring the years long contributions
from the Jowdy family, Lawrencians of Lebanese
descent, the theme of the challenge was Lebanon. In
attendance on behalf of the Jowdy family was Abe
Beshara, the late Ed Jowdy’s best friend from the Plains
neighborhood and owner of the former Lawrence
restaurant, Bishops. Ten schools participated and this
year’s winner was Bellesini Academy.
